PUTMAN, FORREST "PUT' Forrest, age 89, passed away on February 14, 2015. He was born on September 12, 1925 in Clarksville, GA and spent his childhood in Georgia, Ohio and Arizona. He graduated from Litchfield Park High School in Arizona and entered the Army Air Corps in 1943. He later graduated from Kirtland Air Force Base Bombardier School as a Second Lieutenant. Following his discharge, he attended the University of Arizona where he played and lettered in baseball. He graduated in 1950 with a Juris Doctorate Degree. He was admitted to the Bar of Arizona and also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. In October 1950, he entered the FBI and was assigned in New Haven, CT, New York City, Washington D.C. and Albuquerque where he served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge and later as Agent in Charge for the State of New Mexico. He retired in 1980 and formed a private investigation firm, Maximum Security Agency until 2009. Forrest, fondly known as "Put" was active in the Albuquerque community, serving on the following boards: Crimestoppers, the One Hundred Club, Albuquerque Sports Hall of Fame; was a member of Rotary, ASIS and the Lobo Club and was a Shriner, a Royal Jester and was instrumental in establishing many charity golf tournaments. He leaves behind these families who loved him dearly. Beverly Southard, Steve (Shelia) Southard, Paula (Mark) Glaser, Christopher (Kuhi) Southard, Cori (Daniel) Luquet, Nathan (Sarah) Southard, Derick Southard, Kaci (Michael) Disney and four great grandchildren. Gary (Glenda) Fichtner, Garrett Fichtner and two grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015 at FRENCH - Wyoming with a reception following. GRIFFO, DOUGLAS J. SR. Age 48, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since September 1976, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He is survived by his children, Amber Griffo and Douglas Griffo Jr.; mother Mildred Griffo; sister Deborah Gallegos; brothers Donald Griffo Jr. and Dominic Griffo Sr.; nieces Rebecca "chicken" McClain, Susan and Samantha Griffo; nephews Beau Woodward, Dominic Griffo Jr., Dustin Newsom, and Max Gallegos III. Mr. Griffo was preceded in death by his father Donald J. Griffo Sr. Douglas was a loving, compassionate, caring, funny, generous, and kind father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed, and forever remembered within our hearts. Service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at FRENCH - Lomas. HAIRSTON, MYRTLE FAY Age 67, was born in Roswell, NM September 10, 1947 to Fridge and Ruth Molett. She passed away peacefully February 10, 2015 with her devoted loving husband Clarence Hairston of fifty years, family and friend's by her side. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth King; sisters Ruth L. Hall and Jean McDowell; a brother Rev. Kirk Molett. She is survived by two loving daughters Ruby L. Graves and her husband John Graves of Litchfield Park, Az. and Patricia Green of Albuquerque, NM; one sister Maylee King of Phoenix, Az. and six grandchildren Troy Hairston, Ke-Ani Hairston, Clarence Hairston, Chloe Graves Jeffrey Green, Shai Green and five great-grand children. Fay will be greatly missed by her loving family members and by those whose lives she touched. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11:00a.m. All services will be held at God's House Church 2335 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112, where she was a longtime member. CHAVEZ, LUCIANO Luciano Chavez, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, February 9, 2015. Luciano was a longtime resident of Belen. He was born on September 27, 1924 to Fermin and Adela (Tafoya) Chavez. Luciano loved the outdoors; gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. Luciano is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred and Guillermo Chavez; sisters, Teodorita, Estella and Carmelita Chavez, Lucy Guerrera, Lena Liquari, Helen Mitchener; grandson, Phillip Silva. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Naomi Chavez; daughter, Dolores Gurule of Belen, and two sons, Michael Chavez, (Jenny) of Peralta, LeRoy Chavez, (Eunice) of Belen; step-children, Lyrlene Lake, Lequice Juckes, Clifton Rice, Davita Paul and LaVonda McWhorter; two brothers, Adam Chavez, (Mary Ellen) and George Chavez of Belen; four sisters, Stella Fuentes, Margaret Gallegos, (Fred) of Albuquerque, Susie Barela and Rita Romero of Belen; son-in-law, Louie Gurule; daughter-in-law, Christine Chavez; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel beginning with a public viewing at 9:00am, followed by the funeral service at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens with a potluck reception afterward at Noblin Funeral Service Reception Room. REED, JOHN H., SR. Formerly of Zanesville, OH passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at Woodmark at Uptown Assisted Living Facility, Albuquerque, NM. He was born on September 2, 1920 in Renrock, Noble County, OH and attended the Morgan county schools and Ohio State University prior to serving in the military. A veteran of World War II John served in the Air Force. He Retired in 1981 from the Zanesville Postal Office after serving as a letter carrier for 37 years. John was a member of the Trinity Untied Presbyterian Church in Zanesville, OH and the National Association of Letter Carriers. His wife of 65 years, Esther Mullen Reed, of Meigs County, OH and a son, John H. (JR) Reed, Jr. of Orient, OH, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis and husband Robert Moore of Albuquerque, NM; one grandson, Matthew J. Reed and wife Robin of Grove City, OH and their three children, Jack, Simon, and Annie; a brother, Robert and his wife Beverly Reed, of Zanesville, OH and several nieces and nephews in Ohio, a nephew in North Carolina and a niece in Florida. John is preceded in death by his parents J. Lynn and Roxie Caldwell Reed and sisters, Dortha Gerlach and Esther Secrest. YSTESUND, IDA Z. Ida Z. Ystesund, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born in Pennsylvania on October 18, 1921, Ida was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth A. Ystesund, and her grandson, Alex J. Ystesund. Ida is survived by her sons, Kenneth J. Ystesund and his wife Cindy of Albuquerque, and Keith A. Ystesund of Dolores, Colorado; daughter, Karen Y. Clement and her husband John; grandchildren, Joshua Ystesund, and Amanda Ystesund; her brother Elmer Zern; and numerous nieces and nephews. Born Ida Zern, she grew up on the family farm in Pennsylvania. Ida joined the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps on November 17th, 1942 in Philadelphia. In August 1943, that service was terminated at Camp Polk, Louisiana upon her enlistment in the Women's Army Corps. She served in the Women's Army Corps during WWII in North Africa (Algeria) and Italy until her honorable discharge on September 4th, 1945 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Ida met Ken Ystesund during her service in North Africa, and they married in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania on November 26th, 1947. Ken's job with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service took them to Albuquerque in 1970. Ida enjoyed her children and grandchildren, hiking in the Sandia Mountains, XC skiing, and made the best pies west of the Mississippi. Ida will be deeply missed by her friends and family. A family memorial gathering for the interment of ashes at the Santa Fe National Cemetery is planned for a later date.
