ARROYOS, TONY Of Rio Rancho, NM, completed his earthly journey and is now free from pain and suffering. He now resides in his Father's home with family and friends that preceded him. Tony will be missed by many friends of all walks of life. He was a very strong man and was always there when people needed him. His loving heart and great smile made it difficult to forget him. Tony is survived by his loving, devoted, faithful, caring wife Veronica; his daughter Lisa, the love of his life; his amazing grandson Vinzent, who cherished his Papa; his grandson Micah, who was Papa's ray of sunshine; Walter, who took on the role of caregiver; and Maria Louisa, his goddaughter, who made him smile when she walked into the room. AVERY, NANCY J. Nancy J. Avery became an angel on the morning of February 15th. She is survived by her husband Keith; her daughters: Nicole and husband Alex, Rebecca and fiance Corey; and her mother Jean. She loved spending time with her family and friends, walking the dog, and swimming in her pool. She will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she touched. Nancy had an incredible gift for giving until she had nothing else to give. A celebration of her life will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd (7834 Tennyson St. NE, Albuquerque NM 87122) on Tuesday, Feb 24th at 6PM. BEST, MARJORIE LOUISE Marjorie Best, 89, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed peacefully on February 12, 2015. Marjorie was the first baby born on New Year's Day in 1926, born to William and Mary Easterday. She grew up and raised her own family with the Sandias as her back drop. She married the love of her life, Robert H. Best in 1945. Family was her focus in life and the kitchen always smelled of fresh baked bread. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and son, Charles R. Best of Albuquerque. She is survived by her children, Jimmy Best, Barbara Gilbert and husband, Ray; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Best all of Albuquerque. With precious memories of popcorn and cookies she is survived by her grandchildren, John Best, Chip (Skye) Best, and Aimee (Craig) Sigmon all of NC, Jennifer Best of IL, Danny (Sasha) Gilbert of KS, Debbie (Rene) Luis of FL, Steve (Nicole) Gilbert of WA; seven great-grandchildren, Charles, Henry, Audrey, Rene, Cora, Ziva, and Joseph. BROWN, RYO O. Age 84, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 14, 2015. She was born in Tagajo, Japan and lived in Sendai before coming to the States. CARRIAGA, EMILIO Emilio Carriaga, 80, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Mr. Carriaga was a proud veteran of the United States Army and he retired from the Albuquerque Fire Department. CHAVES, JERRY ALFONSO I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith; all there is to come now is the crown of righteousness reserved for me. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Age 73, resident of Belen, NM passed away on February 15, 2015 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Jerry was born to Alfonso and Dora Romero Chaves on May 28, 1941 in San Francisco, CA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sandy; his parents; in-laws, John and Opel Moses; brother in-law, Maurice Moses. He is survived by his children, Lee Chaves (Melissa) of Los Lunas, NM; Chantel Chaves Carrete of Bosque Farms, NM; his grandchildren, Mikayla, Amanda, Clay, Chloe, Aiden, Xyler and Lianna; siblings, Janice Chaves Rubi (Isidro), Tom Chaves (Carol); nephews, JJ Moses, Eddie Stilwell, Mark, Adam, Devlin and Daniel Rubi, Tommy and Mathew Chaves; nieces, Laura Rubi Harris, Joanna Rubi and Danielle Chaves; sister-in-law Lee Ann Moses Fusco (Stephan); brother-in-law Greg (Sue) Moses of Medford, OR; uncle Andy Chavez of Albuquerque, NM and aunt Dorothy Chavez of San Mateo, CA. Jerry grew up in Ogden, Utah where he attended St. Joseph's High School and was a member of the wrestling team. As a young man, he raised show pigeons, and loved to deer hunt with his father and brother. Jerry joined the U.S. Navy in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. He moved to Ventura, CA where he met and married wife Sandy in 1967. Jerry worked at Point Mugu Naval Base for ten years. In 1977 he moved his family to Medford, OR and worked as a welder for Global Marine aboard the Glomar Challenger. In 1986 Jerry and his family moved to Belen, NM where he served as on-site manager and co-owner for South Main Mobile Home Park in Belen for 30 years. Jerry also worked at the Plaza Inn as Maintenance Foreman until he retired to care for Sandy for the last ten years of her life. Jerry was Roman Catholic and attended Mass at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He loved to fish for salmon, gather Pinon nuts, breed Chihuahuas, and cook for family and friends. Jerry was a jack of all trades, there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and remain his lasting legacy. On Friday, February 20, 2015 a Rosary will be recited at 10am followed by Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel NE, Albuquerque, NM with Fr. Michael Shae as celebrant. COOK, MARY N. Mary N. Cook died February 11, 2015 in Rio Rancho. She was born to John and Mary on October 26, 1921, in Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas where she met the love of her life, E. T. (Tom) Cook. She was a loving wife and mother and a dedicated homemaker. After her children were older, she taught science at Jackson Middle School for a number of years. She was a loyal United Methodist and at her death was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. She had great zest for life, joy in being outdoors, and an enduring commitment to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband and granddaughter Mary Karen. She is survived by her daughters, Karen and husband Bob, Jeanne, Nancy, Melly and husband Brian; grandchildren Sara, Amy and husband Phil, Jennifer, Shannon and husband Grant, Holly and husband Matt, Cory and wife Hannah, MaryHeather and husband Aaron, Rebecca, and Kyle; an increasing number of great-grandchildren; three nephews; and numerous friends .The family thanks the wonderful people who helped care for her during her final illness. GURULE, ADRIAN Age 43, resident of Albuquerque, joined his beloved brother Patrick, in heaven on February 16, 2015. HALE, BRUCE WADE Bruce Wade Hale, 65, a well-known balloonist and Albuquerque businessman, passed away February 12, 2015. Bruce was a successful businessman, a New Mexico contractor, and an avid outdoorsman and adventurer. He served on the Board of Directors of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta from 1990 to 2009. He went further to serve as President of the Fiesta in 1995 and 1996, as well as numerous related commissions and boards to perpetuate the sport of ballooning in Albuquerque and around the World. He was a recipient of the Sid Cutter Award in 1997 and a Bronze Medal in the World Air Games in Seville Spain in 2001. He was a lifetime member of the Montgolfier Society as well as the Albuquerque Aerostat Ascension Association. His love for the art and sport of ballooning is carried on by so many people who he taught, mentored and touched in his life. His passion was contagious and his love for people was paramount in his life. He is survived by daughter, Katie, and husband, Kevin Riley, of Albuquerque; their son, Noah Altamirano; his son, Joe Hale, and wife, Kendra, of Bosque Farms, NM; their children, Colton Hale, James Hale and Stephanie Hale; his daughter, Jenny, and husband, Julian MacDonough, of Bellingham, WA; their daughter, Mia MacDonough; his son, Nathan Hale, and wife, Alex Hale, of Colorado Springs, CO, and their sons, Patrick Hale and Theodore Hale. He is also survived by his Mother, Marilyn V. Hale, of Albuquerque, NM; his brother, Lee Hale, of Snowflake, AZ, and his brother, John Hale, of Albuquerque, NM. He also leaves many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also touching Bruce's life were his wife, Marcie Neville, his wife, Glynnette Hale, and countless close friends and loved ones. Bruce was preceded in death by his Father, James R. Hale. HINO, PETER JOSEPH Peter Joseph Hino, Colonel US Army retired, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2015. He was born on July 29, 1927 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania to Peter and Veronica Hino. He grew up in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. Pete, as he was known to his friends, graduated from Mahanoy City High School at the age of sixteen and joined the Merchant Marine as a Radio Officer. In the fall of 1945 he joined the Navy and entered Submarine School. He was assigned to Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Blackfin in the forward torpedo room and then later served aboard the USS Sealion II. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy in August 1949. Pete then entered the College of William and Mary and was active in the ROTC and was president of his fraternity Theta Delta Chi. Summers working in the coal mines further fueled his desire for an education. He graduated in 1953 and received an appointment to the Regular Army Field Artillery. During an assignment at Fort Sill, Oklahoma he met the love of his life Margaret "Peggy" Calvert Donnelly. They were married October 4, 1958 at Fort Meyer Virginia. During his career in the Army he had two tours of duty to Korea and one to Viet Nam. He attended the United States Army War College and during that time earned a Masters Degree at Dickinson College. He had a distinguished service record and rose to the rank of full Colonel, culminating as Commander of the 25th Division Artillery at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Pete retired from the Army in 1975. He was awarded numerous decorations and awards including the Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Bronze Star Medal with a "V" for Heroism and three Oak Leaf Clusters. He retired to Albuquerque, New Mexico and had a second career in commercial real estate. He and Peggy resided in Albuquerque for twenty eight years. Twelve years ago they decided to move to Dallas to be closer to their grandchildren. He was always one to share a story, tell a joke, perform a magic trick, stump you with a riddle or amaze you with by his astonishing memory. He will be missed. Pete Hino is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Peggy; his son Peter D. Hino and wife Barenda; grandchildren Preston and Dorothy; his brother Edward; and sister Terri. He was preceded in death by their daughter Dorothy Calvert who died at the age of two and a half. He will have a service with military honors at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. New Mexico. MASON, EC EC Mason was born in Montgomery, AL on July 21, 1929 and passed away on February 16, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence C. Mason and Nettie Mason; three brothers, and one sister. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Maryalon "Janie" Mason, who passed in 2010. EC attended Hacklebury High School in Hacklebury, AL, where he graduated in 1948. EC then served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1973, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He was stationed in Korea for a period of time. He is survived by his nephew, David Farley, and wife, Diane, of McAllen, Texas; niece, Patti Farley, and her family, of Albuquerque; his grand-nephew, David Zach Farley, and his family, of Albuquerque; and his niece, Missie Jones, and her family, of Owensboro, KY. EC and Maryalon moved to Albuquerque in 1969 and had previously lived in many different cities while EC served in the Air Force. ORTIZ, FRANCES LACASSAGNE LUCERO 103 - a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, NM, passed away on February 13, 2015. Born to Paul and Melinda Delgado Lacassagne on August 14, 1911, she was a granddaughter of Etienne Lacassagne, a French artisan recruited by Archbishop Jean-Baptiste Lamy to help construct the St. Francis Cathedral and Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Osmundo Lucero and Ambrosio F. Ortiz, and her sisters, Adelina Rivera Fresquez, Isabel Ortiz, Josina Romero, Lucy McCachren, Teresa Romero, Consuelo Lacassagne, a brother, Edward Lacassagne, son-in-law state Sen. Edward J. Lopez and granddaughters Elizabeth Anne Lopez and Karen Ortiz. She is survived by children, Rozella Lopez (widow of Sen. Lopez), Alicia Pino (Gilbert), Gloria Wells (Brian), Terry Lopez (Ted), Patrick T. Ortiz (Judy); grandchildren, Melinda Robbins, Edward J. Lopez, Jr. (Tara), Karen Walker (Corey), Kenneth J. Pino (Ryszard), Thomas J. She was a member Our Lady of Guadalupe (Santa Fe) Parish Council, the Catholic Daughters of America, Little Flower Reading Circle, Our Lady of Guadalupe Ladies Society, Holy Family Society, Altar Society, Perpetual Adoration Society, La Sociedad Folklorica and she taught CCD. Frances worked at the Santa Fe County Clerk's Office and the U.S. District Court as deputy clerk and later as personal secretary to Judge H. Vearle Payne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 417 Agua Fria St., 87501, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015. Pallbearers are: Edward J. PUTMAN, FORREST "PUT' Forrest, age 89, passed away on February 14, 2015. He was born on September 12, 1925 in Clarksville, GA and spent his childhood in Georgia, Ohio and Arizona. He graduated from Litchfield Park High School in Arizona and entered the Army Air Corps in 1943. He later graduated from Kirtland Air Force Base Bombardier School as a Second Lieutenant. Following his discharge, he attended the University of Arizona where he played and lettered in baseball. He graduated in 1950 with a Juris Doctorate Degree. He was admitted to the Bar of Arizona and also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. In October 1950, he entered the FBI and was assigned in New Haven, CT, New York City, Washington D.C. and Albuquerque where he served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge and later as Agent in Charge for the State of New Mexico. He retired in 1980 and formed a private investigation firm, Maximum Security Agency until 2009. Forrest, fondly known as "Put" was active in the Albuquerque community, serving on the following boards: Crimestoppers, the One Hundred Club, Albuquerque Sports Hall of Fame; was a member of Rotary, ASIS and the Lobo Club and was a Shriner, a Royal Jester and was instrumental in establishing many charity golf tournaments. He leaves behind these families who loved him dearly. Beverly Southard, Steve (Shelia) Southard, Paula (Mark) Glaser, Christopher (Kuhi) Southard, Cori (Daniel) Luquet, Nathan (Sarah) Southard, Derick Southard, Kaci (Michael) Disney and four great grandchildren. ROBISON, MAGDA L. Magda L. Robison, 94, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Howard H. Robison, stepson Robert Robison, parents Magda and Paul Reinke and her sister Paula Follis. As a nurse, Magda moved to New Mexico from Germany in 1952 after serving as a nurse to US and allied soldiers during WW II. She continued her nursing career in Grants and Albuquerque until she married in 1960. She enjoyed many talents such as, needle work, painting, photography, and sewing. She enjoyed many hobbies but none more than reading. She is survived by three sons, John Robison (Deborah), Tom Robison (Patti) and Jeff Robison (Rita); six grandchildren Renee Robison, Cheryl Kramer, Cecili Robison, Porsche Robison, Ian Robison and Sydney Robison.

STONE, MIKEL KENTON Age 51, a resident of Wolforth, Texas passed away very unexpectedly on February 6th, 2015. Mikel was a graduate of Belen High School and Texas Tech University with a degree in Sports Medicine where he played football and ran track. He earned his Masters Degree in Sports Physiology from The University of New Mexico and a teaching certificate at Joliet Jr. College. Mikel excelled in many areas including management of Pro Gym in Albuquerque and Norseman Bone and Joint in Lubbock and formed his own company, Norseman Construction in Wolforth, Texas where he was also a Certified Welding Inspector. Mikel enjoyed Bodybuilding, Rugby, playing and coaching Football including coaching for the Lubbock Renagaids, a semi-pro football team. He especially enjoyed hunting with close friends and was a hunting guide in New Mexico, Colorado and Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, William Taylor Stone; grandparents, William and Dorothy Stone, Ralph Leslie and Nora Bell Chilton. He is survived by his Mother, Jean Stone; son, Erek Stone, daughter, Whitley Stone; his kids mother; Sue Stiniker; sister, Debi Gardner (husband Mack); nephew, Dakota Gardner; niece, Mackenzie Gardner. Services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel beginning at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at Noblin Funeral Service reception room. WILSON, BEVERLY JEAN Age 71, passed away on February 15, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was born on January 30, 1944 to Herman and Mary Wilson in Denver, Colorado. Beverly was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother Kenneth. Beverly was survived by her three children, Michael, Roger and Jennifer; her brother, Tom and wife Linda Wilson; and five grandchildren, Buck, Edward, Eric, Matthew and Ashley.
