CLEAVINGER -- Phillip "Herb" Cleavinger passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM, at the age of 78. Herb was a well known Albuquerque business leader who worked many years in department store management. He was born in Denver, Colorado in 1925, the son of Morris E. Cleavinger and Ethel Baumberger Cleavinger. After many youthful adventures, he moved permanently to Albuquerque in 1945, when he met his cherished wife of 58 years, Cordelia "Pat" Cleavinger, who survives him. He is also survived by his five children, Diana, Deborah and her husband, Dennis, and Denise, of Albuquerque, Daniel of Farmington, NM, and David and his wife, Sue, of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by three grand children, Micalene, Karissa, and Tara and her husband, Souheil, and great grandson, Abdul Hakim. He is also survived by his sisters, Pat and her husband, Tom, of Albuquerque, and Mary Lou of Denver, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Herb was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Known for his great sense of humor, elegance, friendliness and integrity, he was much loved and respected by his family, colleagues and many friends, all of whom looked to him for understanding and a gentle word. An afternoon Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. FLEMINS -- Lucille S. Flemins passed away on October 20, 2003 in Mountainair, NM, at the age of 84. She was retired from the Mountainair Public School System after 34 years. She is survived by her son, Gerald and wife, Darla of Albuquerque; and two daughters, Lynne Hemminway and husband, Bill of Socorro, NM and Myra Britton and husband, Dave of El Paso, TX; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.; cousins, nieces, and an aunt. She was active in P.E.O., the Coronado Club and Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D.; brother, Clerence Shaw; granddaughter, Brenda Jolene; and son-in-law, James McNeil. Cremation has taken place and the family has had private services.

KOSTELECKY -- Ray August Kostelecky, 71, a longtime resident of Albuquerque died Thursday, October 30, 2003, from a lingering heart condition. He is survived by his wife of 47 years and 11 months, Pamela Margaret Kostelecky; a sister, Janet and husband, Al; step-daughter, Wendy; sons, Steven and wife, Diana and Derek and wife, Becky; grandchildren, Duane, David, Sarah, Kate, Drew, Matthew, Lucy and Emma; and two cats, Sammy and Sophie. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny. Ray was born in Sargent, Nebraska on September 23, 1932 to August and Gertrude (Peters) Kostelecky. He graduated from Sargent High School in 1949 and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He retired from the Air Force in 1977. Ray worked at the Risk Management Division of the General Services Division of the State of New Mexico from 1977 until retiring in 1995. He enjoyed music, especially country, movies and was a loyal Cornhusker and Cub fan. Services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. MAES -- Melecia M. Maes, a former resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away in Albuquerque, Saturday, November 1, 2003. She was born in Maes, NM on December 10, 1913, into the family of Manuel D.A. and Margarita (Griego) Maes, who precede her. For the past 15 years she has been under the loving care of her sister, Peggy and brother-in-law, Calvin C. Wright. She is survived by her sisters, Peggy Wright and Eloisa Ortega of Albuquerque, Virginia Wildenstein of Colorado Springs, CO, Grace Mammina of St. Joseph, MI and Consuelo Dowler of Rio Rancho; two brothers, Manuel Maes of Albuquerque and Alfredo Maes of Navajo Dam, NM; and numerous nephews and nieces. The loving assistance given to Melecia by Martha Bungart is greatly appreciated. A prayer service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Deacon Ubaldo Chavez presiding. MCCUTCHEON -- Lillian Louise McCutcheon, age 88, of Las Cruces and formerly of Albuquerque entered eternal life Sunday November 2, 2003 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 23, 1915 in Bridgeport, Connecticut and had lived in Las Cruces for the past ten years. Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, James H. McCutcheon of the family home; two daughters, Loye Hardee and husband Harry of Las Cruces and Margie Crump and husband, Rick of Houston, Texas. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Dr. James Hardee (Pam) of Denver, Colorado, Suzanne Halvorson (Tom) of Tucson, Arizona, Nicole Gabel (Brandon) of Santa Fe, Richelle Birdsall (Gabe) of Houston, Texas and Andrea Streight (Zach) of Los Angeles, California, as well as three great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Aaron Hardee and Ethan Birdsall. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Edgel. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels and Baca's Mimbres Crematory, Las Cruces.

MCGHIN -- Daniel McGhin, 17, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Friday, October 31, 2003. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Jo McGhin; and brother, Thomas McGhin. OTERO -- Domonic Paul Otero, 22, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, November 2, 2003. He is survived by his daughter, Makayla Amira Otero; fiance, Patricia Rivas; parents, Paul and Cecilia Otero; sister, Melissa Otero; aunt, Andrea Otero Cordova; grandparents, Margaret and Eloy Trujillo; great-grandfather, Manuel Trujillo; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of Albuquerque. Domonic was a graduate of Highland High School. He was a wonderful son and a great dad. He was always a hard worker. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, November 4, 2003, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Deacon Byron Wicker reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003, 9:00 a.m., at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Father William McCarren, Celebrant. PERCHAK -- Edward Perchak, aged 87, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, October 3l, 2003, after a long illness. He was one of five children of Harry and Apolonia Perchak. He is survived by his sister, Helen Sames of Conklin, NY. He served in World War II as an officer in the Army Air Force and remained with the Air Force until 1950. One of his accomplishments was flying the first jet plane into the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre airport. He was discharged from active duty at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque and remained in Albuquerque the remainder of his life. His major business interest was as the owner of "Eddie's Inferno", a tavern on Central Avenue (Route 66) on the east side of the city. He was one of the ten original founders of the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival". Interment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum. PERCIFIELD -- Ret. Lt. Colonel James D. Percifield, 88, died on Saturday, November 1, 2003. He served in the Army during the Korean War and World War II. He retired as an Administrator for the Lovelace Foundation. James is survived by his wife, Frances L. Percifield, who resides at the Village at Alameda; children, Robert Pulaski and wife, Sarah, of Plano, Texas; Donna L. Zellner and husband, Wayne, of Albuquerque; Jerry Percifield and wife, Judy Hammack, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Barbara Velarde and Glenn Hilgedick, of Longmont, Colorado; eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Percifield and wife, Inda, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and sister Lois Jean Ursiny of Carmel, Indiana. He will be missed by all. Services will be held Thursday, November 6, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Cremation will follow services. PETERSON -- Charles L. Peterson, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for the last 13 years and former resident of Los Alamos, passed away November 1, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary L. Peterson of Albuquerque; three sons, Norman C. Peterson and wife, Donna of Fallon, NV, Dana W. Peterson and wife, Anne-Marie of Albuquerque and John L. Peterson and wife, Kay of Greensboro, NC; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Peterson retired from Los Alamos National Labs after 30 years of employment.
