Ray August Kostelecky, 71, a longtime resident of Albuquerque died Thursday, October 30, 2003, from a lingering heart condition. He is survived by his wife of 47 years and 11 months, Pamela Margaret Kostelecky; a sister, Janet and husband, Al; step-daughter, Wendy; sons, Steven and wife, Diana and Derek and wife, Becky; grandchildren, Duane, David, Sarah, Kate, Drew, Matthew, Lucy and Emma; and two cats, Sammy and Sophie. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny. Ray was born in Sargent, Nebraska on September 23, 1932 to August and Gertrude (Peters) Kostelecky. He graduated from Sargent High School in 1949 and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He retired from the Air Force in 1977. Ray worked at the Risk Management Division of the General Services Division of the State of New Mexico from 1977 until retiring in 1995. He enjoyed music, especially country, movies and was a loyal Cornhusker and Cub fan. Services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Encryptment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
