PERCHAK -- Edward Perchak, aged 87, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, October 3l, 2003, after a long illness. He was one of five children of Harry and Apolonia Perchak. He is survived by his sister, Helen Sames of Conklin, NY. He served in World War II as an officer in the Army Air Force and remained with the Air Force until 1950. One of his accomplishments was flying the first jet plane into the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre airport. He was discharged from active duty at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque and remained in Albuquerque the remainder of his life. His major business interest was as the owner of "Eddie's Inferno", a tavern on Central Avenue (Route 66) on the east side of the city. He was one of the ten original founders of the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival". Interment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum.
