A generous philanthropist to democratic campaigns, educational institutions and the needy, Mr. Tishman was honored for his philanthropic work by the Christian Brothers who donned him an honorary member. Mr. Tishman respected the Christian Brothers' educational mission and enjoyed being jokingly referred to as their first Jewish member.
