 MARES, CATALINA "KATE" Age 90, went with her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2013. She was embraced into heaven by Jesus, and her beloved sons James and Stan Mares. Her peaceful journey ended in her loving home in Rio Rancho. Kate was born on May 15, 1923, to Abel and Beatrice Zamora. She is survived by her "lifetime" husband of 72 years, Epifanio. Epifanio's reflection of his Kate is, "LA MARIPOSA DE MI FLOR". Besides her sons she was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Celina Navarro and Angel Apodaca; brother, Abel Zamora; sister, Mercedes Archibeque; son-in-law, Rodger Urioste. Our godly, gentle natured Kate is survived by her children, Tomasita and George Navarro, Patricia Urioste, Elizabeth Mares, Elizabeth DeVargas and Kathy and Kevin Castillo; 19 grandchildren; 51 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Kate lived a life of love, integrity and faith. She was an ideal role model who gave consejos to her family. She was quiet but when she spoke, everyone listened to her words of wisdom. A Rosary will be recited on June 5, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows (Bernalillo) Celebrant Monsignor Bolman with Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. a celebration of her life will directly follow after the Mass in the Social Center of Our Lady of Sorrows. Interment was at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Pallbearers will be, Joshua Apodaca, Paul James Mares II, Chris Urioste, Sean Vargas. Honorary pallbearers are, Rick Barreras, Ron Carrion, Kevin Castillo, Damien-Patrick-John Navarro, Matthew Urioste and Thadd Vargas. A special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their heartfelt compassion especially Maria and Kat. Kate will be missed tremendously, but most especially by her devoted husband Epifanio, they lived a married life filled with "amor y carino". Faithfulness and prayerfulness are some of her greatest lessons she leaves with each of us. She had a special devotion to St. Anthony. We love you and know you are now in our Lord's perfect peace and joy, lovingly smiling at us with Stan and James at your side.
