PALMER -- JOHN ROBERT Of Albuquerque, quietly passed Friday morning, December 30th, 2011, after a quick battle with cancer. John was born March 15, 1941 in Warren OH., to Warren A. and June C. Palmer. John had nine brothers and seven sisters. John was the director of the AARP Information Center, here in Albuquerque. During his 12 years of service, John was awarded the AARP Andrus Award and is a member of the Senior Hall of Fame. He was also awarded the Henrietta J. Smith Volunteer Service award in 2007 and 2008 and would have continued to receive the award given to the volunteer with the most volunteer hours annually, but the rules of the award were changed to allow others to be recognized. John was also an honorary lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and was President of local Moose Lodge , 2241. John's true love and passion in this world were, his honey, Kathryn his loving wife and best friend of 27 years; his six grandchildren; his family and his wonderful cooking. John is survived by his wife Kathryn; his daughter Pam and fiance Frank and her son; his son Lance and fiance Vanessa and their children Zack, Roman, Feliz and Ashley; son, Robert Palmer; son Robert Harvey and wife Carol Lynn and their children, Kyle and Kaitlynn; daughter Leslie Ranalli and boyfriend John Matteucci and many members of the Palmer and Armenta families. John was a loving husband, father, grandpa, friend and volunteer. His door and his kitchen were always open. WE LOVE YOU HUN, GRANDPA, POP! YOU ARE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS! A celebration of John's life will be held Monday, January 2nd at John XXIII. Address: 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE 87111. Pallbearers will be Lance Palmer, Robert Palmer, Robert Harvey, Matt Armenta Sr., Mattie Armenta, and Bobby Armenta. Honorary Pallbearers are Zach Palmer, Roman Sanchez, Kyle Harvey, Gilbert Torres and John Matteaucci. Viewing begins at 10:00am. Services begin at 11:00am and a reception is to follow. John will be laid to rest at Tijeras Cementary.

POLLOCK -- NANCY age 87, a longtime resident of Albuquerque and Corrales, died December 22, 2011. She was born in Oak Park, IL on August 6, 1924. She grew up in Elmhurst, IL and after graduating from Colorado College she passed the National Medical Technology Registry exam and worked as a med tech in the pathology department of Chicago Medical School. She moved to Albuquerque in 1956 and became the chief technologist in the blood bank laboratory at Albuquerque VA Hospital. Shortly after moving to Albuquerque, Nancy became an AKC Dog show obedience judge and continued judging shows until 2010. Her popularity among exhibitors, fellow judges and show-giving clubs was legend and her assignments took her all over the US including Hawaii and Alaska. She was known and respected for her ability to put exhibitors at ease when they entered her ring and was loved by many for her sense of humor and her strong devotion to the sport of dog obedience. She trained her own dogs and through the years put a number of obedience titles on many of her own dogs, all of whom were much loved pets who slept on her bed at night. She was a very active member of Sandia Dog Obedience Club and at one time or other held every office in the club. She was also a participating member of Rio Grande Kennel Club. She will be greatly missed by her many friends from coast to coast and by her family and her longtime friend, Vita Zodin. Nancy is survived by a sister, Joanne Pringle of Burr Ridge, IL; and by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and by her dear friend, Vita. RAEL -- RICHARD A. Age 82. A loving, caring supportive, devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away December 29, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita; six children: Deborah Rael-Buckley and her husband, Thomas. Valerie Compton and her husband Woody. Lorraine Lewis and fiance Erin Gavin. Richard G. Rael and fiance Tonya Mixon, John Rael and his wife Colleen and Irene Rael-Ramirez and her husband Christopher. Five grandchildren; Justin Lawrence, Joshua and Jordan Rael, and Mateo and Annaleise Rael. Richard is also survived by his sisters; EmmaJean Helling, Dolly Harris, Doris McGrew and brother; Adolph Rael. Richard worked as an order analyst at the Sandia National Laboratories for 35 years and also served as a Chief Union Steward. After retirement, he worked as a Mediator at the Albuquerque Metropolitan Courts. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Parish and had a strong spiritual belief. Richard's passion for many years was running and he had often said, "When I get to heaven, I will run again". Richard was a man of faith, a man of knowledge, a man of strength, a man of guidance, a man of humor and a man of unconditional love. As time allows our hearts to heal, his memory of all mentioned will forever be our shining light. Though lives are limited, we must all remember, it is not how long the flower blooms, but for how brightly. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Our Lady of Fatima Parish. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 4020 Lomas Boulevard, NE with a reception following at the family home. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will follow at a later date. SALISBURY -- CARNIS HIGHTOWER Departed this world on December 23, 2011 at the age of 97. She will be remembered as wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and community activist. Carnis was preceded in death by Oliver, her husband of 51 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia and Olivia Salisbury; two grandsons, Brandon Bailey and Sean Harris, all of Albuquerque; special niece, Janice Hightower of San Jose, NM; two great grandchildren, Dontrell and A'isha Bailey; sister, Vivian Wiley of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers William and Edward Hightower of Washington D. C.; as well as a host of other family, and many, many friends who love and will miss her. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 3715 Silver SE, Albuquerque NM. Carnis' ashes will be committed on Monday, January 16, 2011 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. SANCHEZ -- MARSHELL ANTHONY Age, 40, of Mountainair, NM passed away suddenly at his home on December 27, 2011. Marshall was born October 12, 1971 in Fresno, CA to Marshall Sanchez and Anna Valles. Marshall had lived in Mountainair, NM for the past four years having previously lived in Fresno, CA. Marshall was preceded in death by his brothers, Eric Daniel Foster and Shannon Sanchez; and grandmother, Viola Lopez.
