JOHN ROBERT Of Albuquerque, quietly passed Friday morning, December 30th, 2011, after a quick battle with cancer. John was born March 15, 1941 in Warren OH., to Warren A. and June C. Palmer. John had nine brothers and seven sisters. John was the director of the AARP Information Center, here in Albuquerque. During his 12 years of service, John was awarded the AARP Andrus Award and is a member of the Senior Hall of Fame. He was also awarded the Henrietta J. Smith Volunteer Service award in 2007 and 2008 and would have continued to receive the award given to the volunteer with the most volunteer hours annually, but the rules of the award were changed to allow others to be recognized. John was also an honorary lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and was President of local Moose Lodge , 2241. John's true love and passion in this world were, his honey, Kathryn his loving wife and best friend of 27 years; his six grandchildren; his family and his wonderful cooking. John is survived by his wife Kathryn; his daughter Pam and fiance Frank and her son; his son Lance and fiance Vanessa and their children Zack, Roman, Feliz and Ashley; son, Robert Palmer; son Robert Harvey and wife Carol Lynn and their children, Kyle and Kaitlynn; daughter Leslie Ranalli and boyfriend John Matteucci and many members of the Palmer and Armenta families. John was a loving husband, father, grandpa, friend and volunteer. His door and his kitchen were always open. WE LOVE YOU HUN, GRANDPA, POP! YOU ARE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS! A celebration of John's life will be held Monday, January 2nd at John XXIII. Address: 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE 87111. Pallbearers will be Lance Palmer, Robert Palmer, Robert Harvey, Matt Armenta Sr., Mattie Armenta, and Bobby Armenta. Honorary Pallbearers are Zach Palmer, Roman Sanchez, Kyle Harvey, Gilbert Torres and John Matteaucci. Viewing begins at 10:00am. Services begin at 11:00am and a reception is to follow. John will be laid to rest at Tijeras Cementary.
