CARROLL -- CATHY LYNN December 19, 1949-May 29, 2012 In loving memory of "Cat" Carroll, friend and shepherd to all who crossed her path. Cathy is now with her Lord and Savior, taken by metastatic melanoma and brain tumors. Cat was born in Hempstead, NY. When she moved here to Albuquerque she fell in love with the New Mexico landscapes and rocks, vowing never to leave. Her testimony about the work of Christ her Savior reached far and wide. She changed the outlook of all who came in contact with her as she shared her amazement of all the natural wonders this world holds. She never shied from a good discussion about archaeology, astronomy, paleontology, history and the Scriptures. She was a marvelously intelligent woman who felt blessed with the adventurous experiences she was afforded in life. Cathy was preceded in death by her loving mother and father, Frank and Elsie Carroll. She is survived by her brother, Frank Carroll, Jr. and one aunt, Mary Bernhardt. Her special family includes her caretakers, Bob and Faye Valdiviez; and friends Sarah Marie Franklin, Chris and Jane Tegard, Joseph Baglio, German Benitez, Ray and Nancy Mechenbier, Carol Hammans, Daisy Williams, Mike and Winnie Wright of Omaha, Melissa Rowlett of Orlando,Fl., and Marcie Wynn of Casselberry, Fl. CLARK -- ROBERT P. Age 76, passed away May 23, 2012 surrounded by his family after a courageous 21 year battle with cancer. Bob was born July 19, 1935 in Jackson, Michigan, to Paul and Ruth Clark. He attended high school in Ypsilanti, Michigan where he was an accomplished tennis player, winning the state championship. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1957 with a Chemistry degree, played varsity tennis, and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. In 1959 he married the love of his life, Peggy Mahoney. After earning his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Illinois in 1961, they moved to Albuquerque, NM, where they raised four children. Bob was employed at Sandia National Laboratories for 35 years where he received multiple patents for his work on advanced batteries. For seventeen years he was a coach and mentor to many young baseball players at Altamont Little League, winning multiple state championships. Over the years he enjoyed golf, tennis, playing guitar, bowling, running, traveling with his family, watching his children and grandchildren's activities and performances, and researching genealogy. He was very active at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, Elder and the Clerk of Session. Bob served on the board of the Martineztown House of Neighborly Service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Charles Clark. He is survived by: his loving wife of 53 years, Peggy Clark; son Robert Clark, Jr. and his children Ryan, Samantha, and Kaitlyn, of Albuquerque; daughter Penny Mack and husband Michael, and daughter Kyara Casillas of Albuquerque; son Kerry Clark and wife Nadine and their triplet children Paul, Brendan, and Katie of Albuquerque; and daughter Susan Pearson and children Aubrey and Macey of Amarillo, TX. The family would like to express their profound gratitude to the staff of Hospice de la Luz, who made the last days of Bob's life as peaceful as possible; and to Dr Clark Haskins and his staff at NMCC. A celebration of life will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, located at Carlisle and Silver, SE on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Sandia Memorial Gardens. DEBRINE -- EMERLINDA G. longtime resident of Socorro County, died peacefully at her home in Lemitar on May 28, 2012 surrounded by her precious grandchildren and family members. She was 80. Emerlinda Griselda Gallegos was born in Socorro, New Mexico on May 26, 1932, the oldest child of Pete and Gloria Gallegos. Her parents and brothers, Raymond, Frankie and Pete Jr. all preceded her in death. She was further preceded in death in 1987 by her husband, Earl DeBrine, a handsome New Yorker from Rochester who came to Socorro to attend the New Mexico School of Mines and promptly fell for a captivating beauty and started a family and business in Socorro and never left. They had four children, all of whom survive her, daughters Stephanie DeBrine (Irion) and her husband Tom Irion, Elaine DeBrine Howell and her husband Kent both residents of Socorro; son Earl DeBrine, Jr. and his wife Joanna of Albuquerque, and son Peter DeBrine and his partner Ken Hartzell, of Paris, France. She is further survived by five grandchildren for whom she lived and who fulfilled her later years, Earl (Trey) DeBrine III, Jordan DeBrine and Joseph DeBrine of Albuquerque and Zoe Howell and James Howell of Socorro. She is also survived by eight nieces and four nephews, five daughters of her beloved brother Raymond; the daughter of her sister-in-law Elaine DeBrine Gates who predeceased her; the six children of her brother-in-law Bruce DeBrine and his wife Georgia, of Broomfield, Colorado, who also survive her together with extended family and friends. Known to everyone as "Mernie," Emerlinda was an FDR Democrat and political trailblazer. She was the first woman chair of the Socorro County Democratic party, serving for many years supporting many local and national candidates. Mernie was the first woman appointed to the New Mexico Highway Commission by governors of both political parties and was also a Ted Kennedy delegate to the 1980 national convention. She was persuaded to run for political office and served two terms as Socorro County Treasurer in the 1980s but retreated from the political scene in 1987 to run the family's farm and business, the Capitol Bar, upon her husband's death. She sold the Capitol to her son and daughter-in-law in 1999 so she could spend time with her grandchildren but continued to run her farm in Lemitar until her death. A Holy Rosary will be held June 3, 2012 7:00 pm at the San Miguel Parish Hall, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, NM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 4, 2012 9:00 am at San Miguel Parish Hall, with interment immediately following at the Lemitar, NM Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Earl DeBrine III, Joseph DeBrine, James Howell, Tom Irion, James Kent Howell, Ken Hartzell and Luis Garibay. DENNIS -- BETTY JO Of Albuquerque, NM, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the age of 80. She was surrounded by her family. Betty Jo was a native of Dayton, OH. She moved to Albuquerque in 1964. She was a long-time member of the choir at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church and spent much of her time at Bear Canyon Senior Center. She loved classical music and bird watching as well as traveling and spending time with her many close friends and family. She was a woman of strong faith and a loving mother and wife. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob Dennis. Betty Jo is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Dorr and husband, Michael of Colorado Springs, CO and her son, Paul Dennis and wife Christine of Albuquerque, NM. She also leaves three brothers, John, Jimmy, and Joe Harrison; and five beautiful grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. There will be a private interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 10:00am with a Rosary immediately before at 9:30am. FRYE -- JAMES ALANSON Born June 12, 1930 to James F. and Claudia L. Frye in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Greta Frye; and his second wife, just 5 months ago, Dani Frye. Jim is survived by his brother Charles Russ Frye(June) and nephew Michael; sister Patricia Carol Wilding-White (Fred) and nephew James; his children, Calvin Craig Hall (Polly), Danitsa Leah Neumann (Vinny), and Micah Woodul (Chris); his grandchildren Michelle Garcia, Ann Padilla, Ondrea Barber, Calvin Beavers, KylerWoodul and Grady Woodul; and five great-grandchildren. Jim was a graduate of New Mexico State University and Cameron University. He also attended Georgia Tech. He played Varsity football at all three colleges and earned his BSME from New Mexico State. He truly loved the sport of football and was fortunate to play professionally in the early stages of the NFL. He was a Senior Engineer at Halliburton, Chief Mechanical Engineer at Cabot in Pampa, TX, and Senior Project Manager for Kerr McGee Nuclear Division. Next, he created his own Engineering Firm, EDC Engineering which he owned and operated for over 40 years in both Oklahoma and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Jim implemented many successful projects and created many successful patents in his life. Jim served his country through the U.S. Maritime Service, U.S. Naval Reserve (Active Duty), and U.S. Air Force. He received a Bronze Star. Because of his military service and engineering career, Jim was able to travel the world. He loved telling stories about his travels and especially loved reminiscing about the delicious meals he had. GELLER -- PATRICIA GLASSCOCK Cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully on May 29, 2012 after a courageous four year fight with cancer. Patti was born on August 9, 1944 in Tucson, Arizona (a birthdate she shared with her beloved father) and spent her early childhood years on the family farm in Muleshoe, Texas. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1950. Patti graduated from Sandia High School and attended UNM before moving to Southern California where she had a successful career in human resources. She returned to Albuquerque in 2006 to be close to her family. Patti is survived by her mate, Jack Klassy; her family: mother, Minnie Glasscock of Albuquerque; her brother, Gary Glasscock and his wife, Barbara of Renton, Washington; her sisters, Jeanne Hertz of Santa Fe, NM and Janelle Stamper of Albuquerque; one niece, Ashley Stamper of Albuquerque and Ashely's son, Christopher James Judson II, Patti's beloved great nephew. Patti is also survived by one aunt and an extended group of cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow W. Glasscock; her best friend for 50 years, Sally Battershell Swanson, and her brother in law, Verne H. Stamper III. Patti was the type of person who never met a stranger. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her humor, and her kindness and generosity to all of her many friends and family. She will be dearly missed by all of us who love her. GONZALES -- LARRY M. was born July 17, 1956 and found peace on May 28, 2012. Larry was a beloved son, partner, brother, uncle, grandfather, father and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruben and Corrine Mora, and Benjamin Gonzales; and grandparents Fermin and Casiana Mora. He is survived by his mother Mary Gonzales; domestic partners Ismael "Izzy" Delgado and Owen Dennis Evans; daughter Rene Gonzales and Manuel; sisters Diane and husband Michael, Debbie and husband Manuel, Tina and family, Cheryl and family; nieces Felicia and Michael, Nadine and Judah; great nephew and nieces Diego, Avea, and Arianna; step-sons Justin, Sean, and Matthew; grandchildren Justin, Isabella, Kenneth, Liberty, Adam, and Alex; as well as many other nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; family and friends. HOFF -- LEE J. Age 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away peacefully May 29, 2012. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years V. Nadine; three daughters Sherry Hoff of Belen, NM, Terry White and husband Steve of Greeley, CO, Lou Ann Linder and husband Doug of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Hoff was retired from PPG Industries after 33 years of loyal and devoted service. He was a long time member of Sombra Del Monte Christian Church, Ballut Abyad Chanters, Albert Pike Lodge No. 303, La Mesa Court No. 3 Order of the Amaranth, Desert Rose Order of the Eastern Star, and the Bernalillo County Citizens Unit. Mr. Hoff refereed basketball, umpired city league and little league baseball and was a tenor in the Sun Liners barbershop quartet. Mr. Hoff loved attending to his various rose gardens and was known to all as an avid animal lover. Visitation will be at French University Chapel June 1, 2012 5pm to 7pm and the funeral service will be at French University Chapel June 2, 2012 at 10am with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park. KARNES -- JAMES ROBERT Of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Born in Stuttgart, Germany on May 2, 1964, the fifth child of Robert and Esther Karnes. James was a gifted athlete, respected executive in the construction industry, entertaining karaoke singer, and accomplished entrepreneur. He was also a loving husband, father and brother with a gentle, caring and compassionate spirit. James is survived by his wife, Renee; his son, Rosendo; his daughter, Ariana; and his son Christopher from a previous marriage. He is also survived by two brothers, Michael Karnes and Thomas Karnes; five sisters, Barbara Karnes, Monica Stahlhut, Mary Markham, Angela Hayes, and Katherine Foster. James is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces in New Mexico, Indiana and Massachusetts. His marriage to Renee Varela introduced him to a loving family of in-laws from northern New Mexico. His entire family will miss him very much. A Rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. MARTINEZ -- ANTONIO (TONY) SIMON age 80, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at his residence with his loving family at his bedside. Antonio was born on January 5, 1932 to Jose Antonio and Isaria Martinez in Moses, NM. MONTOYA -- MARTHA LOUISE HENNIGAN Age 82, passed away Monday morning, May 28th in her hometown of Albuquerque, NM. Martha was one of nine children born to Henry and Elise Hennigan. She was born on January 17, 1930 in Muenster, TX. Years later her family moved to Albuquerque where Martha graduated from St. Vincent Academy in 1948. Martha married Bennie Montoya in 1957 and raised a family of two boys and three girls. She was active in the Roman Catholic church and served as church organist and choir director at a number of Albuquerque churches including, Queen of Heaven, Our Lady of Assumption and Our Lady of the Annunciation Parishes. She also worked many years as staff organist at Fitzgerald and Sons Mortuary. Martha's ability to bring to life Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor or Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy on the pipe organ was well known around Albuquerque. Martha and Bennie lived most of their lives in the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque and in retirement settled in Rio Rancho, NM. Martha is survived by four of her children, Paul Montoya (Buford, WY), Elaine Montoya (Albuquerque, NM), Melinda Ralston (Houston, TX) and Lisa Ellis (Dodson, TX). She is also survived by three sisters, Rose Johnston (Danville, CA), Therese Neil (Grass Valley, CA) and Rita Baca (Albuquerque, NM). She also has five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Bennie; son David; brother Joseph; brother Pat; sister Mary; sister Alma; and brother Frank. Rosary will be held Tuesday, June 5th at 10:30am with Mass to follow at St Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW.

STOUT -- M. KENT Age 82, resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, after a sudden bout of pneumonia. One of six children, Kent was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 4, 1930 to Myron Stout and Helen Gardner. He served in the Utah National Guard and the U.S. Army and graduated from the University of Utah with a BFA in architecture. After moving to Albuquerque in 1964, he worked for several architectural firms before establishing his own practice. Kent was pre-deceased by his two brothers, Jan and Mason, and his youngest sister, Jean Stout-Cooper. He is survived by his three children - Carla Thompson (and her husband, David, and children, Kevin [Lauren Elizabeth] and Lauren Gail), Erik Stout (and his children, Rosa [Carlos], Antonia, and Lily), and Paula Slavin (and her husband, Adam, and children, Jason and Dalia); his friend and ex-wife, Carol Condie; and his sisters, Lorraine Pepper and Shirley Stroh. WALTER -- GRIFFEN LEE Age 15, a resident of Sandia Park, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Lee Walter; father, Terry Lee Walter; brother, Jordan Lee Walter; and many other loving family members and friends. Griffen loved God and always strived to do what was right. He was adventurous, outgoing, and very mischievous at times. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, baseball, camping and animals. Services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, 10:00 a.m., at French - Lomas Chapel. YEAGER -- AILEEN Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on May 30, 2012 in her adopted home of Albuquerque, NM. Aileen was 80 years young and lived her life fully until she passed. A fancy dresser and style maven Aileen loved going shopping to second hand stores with her beloved and dedicated daughter Kathleen. Aileen Florence Landsberg was raised in Cleveland where she married Donald Yeager and started a family. After her husband died, she raised and supported her daughter and two sons, Kim and Scott, by working in as a secretary for the Cleveland Newspaper Publishers Association and at the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper. After she retired from the Plain Dealer, she and her daughter opened a resale-consignment clothing store called Ritzy Rags in Lakewood, OH. When she closed that business, she moved to Albuquerque to be with her daughter. She became enchanted by the New Mexico style and adapted to it with new Southwestern and Indian styles. She was a regular at Kraemer family volleyball and was a dedicated fan of the Shysters softball team. She was a valued member of the Highland Harmonizers singing group and the Red Hats. She was the eldest Buffalo Gal and was cherished by that gang of women. Aileen is survived by her son Kim Yeager, Scott and Cindy Yeager; grandson Christopher Yeager and wife Angela; granddaughter Rochelle; and Kathleen Yeager and husband J. Brent Ricks of Albuquerque. Grateful thanks are given to the AmberCare group for their assistance to Aileen and to her dearest family and friends who were with her when she needed them the most. A private memorial service will be held on Sunday and then a celebration of Aileen's long and fruitful life will be held at the Ricks home at 2835 Trellis NW on Saturday June 9th from 2 to 5 pm.
