CHAVEZ -- Isidro Chavez Sr., 89, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2010, after a long illness. He was born February 26, 1921. He retired from General Electric and served his country during WWII. He loved his music and was the oldest living Mariachi in New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicki T. Chavez, daughter, Barbara Calderon, son, Edward Chavez, granddaughter, Victoria Quintana, parents, Estanislado and Julianita Chavez, and four brothers. He is survived by his children, Patricia Quintana and husband, George, Cathy Martinez and husband, Herman Sr., Arlene Portillo, Isidro Chavez Jr., Doris Sedillo and husband, Gilbert, Charlie Chavez; 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was a member of San Jose Parish for many years. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Parish with viewing one hour prior. COLE -- Louise Cole passed away on March 6, 2010. She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Harrison and husband, Russ, and Nina Infante and husband, Paul of Houston, TX; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cole. Louise was born in La Junta, Colorado in 1918. She had a love of gardening and needlework. She was a former resident of Amarillo, Texas and currently resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Louise was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of Paramount Christian Church in Amarillo, Texas. DECKER -- James Eric Decker, 37, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Mr. Decker was born on July 13, 1972 in Decatur, IL. He graduated from Cibola High School in 1991. He worked for over ten years with the Honeywell Corporation and was most recently employed as a computer technician with C.V.I. In his free time, Mr. Decker, loved to fish and race motorcycles. He is preceded in death by his father, Rollin Decker. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cathy and John Salls; sister, Kelli Maestas; his half-siblings, Tammy Salls and Nicholas Decker; grandfather, James Hauck; aunt and uncle, Teri and Fred Salls, and uncle, Robert Hauck; nephews, Richie and Ronnie Salls, Robert Maestas; and niece, Jada Michelle Vadilla. DORCAS -- Kathleen "Kay" Dorcas, 88, was born September 1, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio and was a long-time resident of Albuquerque. She passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2010. Her loving family and caregivers were there to comfort her and nourish her spirit. She is survived by her four daughters: Sandra Peterson and husband David of Sturgis, SD, Karen Kerns and husband Harry of Albuquerque, Jennifer MacDonald and husband Leonard of Albuquerque, Kathy Murphy Prenevost and husband Leo of Santa Fe, NM; and also her brothers, Buddy and Danny McVicker. She devoted much of her time and energy to being the beloved grandmother of 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Charlie; brother Jimmy McVicker; and sister Doris Ann Ridings. Kay and Charlie were involved in thoroughbred horse racing for many years and she was an avid bowler, loved playing blackjack, and was an expert at Scrabble. She was loved and respected by everyone that had the privilege of knowing her and she will always be in our hearts. MCLEOD -- Duncan Andrew McLeod, 40, passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2010 in Ventura,CA. He was born and raised in Albuq., NM and moved to CA eight years ago. He had a heart of gold and is loved and will be missed by sister Kathy Schwarting and husband Dave; brother Matthew McLeod and wife Karen; sister Charlotte McLeod; and twin brother Jimmy McLeod and wife Valerie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews John (26), Brandon (nine), Kaitlyn (eight), Noah (five), and Hannah (three). He will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Duncan touched the hearts of many friends he made throughout his life in New Mexico and California and will be deeply missed. Duncan graduated from Sandia High School in 1988. Born July 31, 2003 in Glynn County Georgia to Robert Kyle and Jennifer Thomas Mitchell, Seth was a student at Glyndale Elementary School. He was a member of St. Simons Community Church and was an avid motor cross and NASCAR fan. Seth also enjoyed UGA Football and Transformers. MONTOYA -- Amelia, 75, wife, mother, sister and grandmother passed away on March 4, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Polvadera, NM on November 2, 1934 to Teodoro and Rose Chavez Jiron. Amelia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gerald Montoya; children, Geri Moya and husband, Alfred of Albuquerque, Cia Arias and husband, Robert of Placitas, Margaret Brandt and husband, Jim of Mesa, AZ, Ed Montoya and wife, Jennifer of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Dan Montoya of Tempe, AZ. Amelia has nine grandchildren, Paul Feery, Alec and Amanda Brandt, Nick, Mark, Will and Joann Montoya, Sarah and Amy Jo Montoya; her loving sister, Lucille Montoya; nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Lillie and Lovella Montoya; and numerous relatives and friends. Amelia loved the Lord and spent her time praising God. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren. Amelia was a hardworking wife, mother and homemaker to her family. MYERS -- Victor Vern Myers, Jr., 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, is at peace with the Lord as of Sunday, March 7, 2010. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Ginger Newton Myers; three children, Mark Myers and wife, Cathy of Scottsdale, AZ, Vicki Fraker and husband, Todd of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Vee Ann Miller and husband, Mark of Aurora, CO; step-daughters, Shari McKinney and husband, Matthew of Colstrip, MT, Shelby Morris and husband, Terry of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; ten grandchildren, Dylan, Bethany, Jonathan, Jordan, Anna, Nathan, Colton, Caitlyn, Tyler and Haley; one great-grandchild, Carter; and numerous other relatives and friends. Victor was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Beth Myers in 2002; and one brother, Dwight Myers. He was born on January 10, 1927 in Sheridan, WY and attended high school in WY and CA. Vic also attended Northern Arizona University and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. Vic established Vic Myers Associates, an electronics sales business in 1980, in which he was active up until his death. His employees felt fortunate to work with him. He was an avid trout fisherman and was involved in wildlife conservation. Vic also loved to sing and play his trumpet. He was very light-hearted and had a great sense of humor. Victor had high standards of integrity and was well liked by the variety of people he knew and kind to those he didn't know. In the words of Vic, "Thank God we are all different!" He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. ROMERO DE CABRERA -- Zoila Eugenia Romero de Cabrera, 93, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Elsie Cabrera, Marta E. Iorio and husband, Frank all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Brian, Cherie, Jose Luis, Benjamin, Alejandro, Elsie Maria, and Ana Eugenia; great-granddaughters, Janeen and Valentina; nephew, Raul Smith and wife, Lucky; sister, Esperanza Estrada of Guatemala; nieces; and many other family members abroad. SCHLEGEL -- Catherine "Cathy" L. Schlegel, 61, joined the Lord March 7, 2010. She is survived by her daughter Alex L. Schlegel of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, Dr. Douglas Brutlag and wife Simone of Menlo Park, CA; nephew Benjamin; and niece Pauline; and several other family including her cousins Paul, Larry, Alan, Bernadine Brutlag; and many friends. To all those that knew her, Cathy was a generous, loving, passionate, artistic, and exuberant woman. She was a loyal friend and loving mother who possessed an infectious laugh and a shining smile. She lived most of her life in Albuquerque, moved to Fort Worth, Texas several years ago and recently returned to Albuquerque. SMALL -- Warren D. Small, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Warren is survived by Frances, his wife of 60 years; sisters, Gloria Morgero of Brooksville, FL, Margaret Eschmann of New York; and his German Shepherd, Annie. He was born in Queens, NY and served in the Coast Guard for six years. Prior to retiring in Albuquerque, Warren lived in Upstate New York, where he was employed as a representative of a technical company. He retired in 1983. After traveling the U.S. with his wife, he fell in love with Albuquerque. He enjoyed building model ships and carved beautiful pieces of art. He had a passion for electronics, and could repair anything from a TV to a computer. His love for animals was well-known. His garage was the gathering place for his veteran neighbors. The open garage door was a sign that "Warren was there" and they would chat for hours. Cremation has taken place and a private Military funeral was held in Santa Fe National Cemetery. VENN -- Ethel Allene Boroughs Venn, 69, has gone home to be with the Lord. She passed Saturday, March 6, 2010. She was born May 21, 1940 in Asheboro, North Carolina, the daughter of James B. and Lorraine Clifford Boroughs. She married Oliver Venn, June 27, 1959 in Albuquerque. Survivors include three daughters and two sons; Stephanie and husband, Danny Hernandez, Edinburg, TX; Virginia Venn, Albuquerque, NM; Donald and wife, Dina Venn, Albuquerque, NM; Brian and wife, Yosuko Venn of Japan; Mary Venn, Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; one brother, Oliver Boroughs, Sacramento, CA; three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded by her parents and two infant brothers. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, March 13, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Alameda Bible Church, 220 El Pueblo Rd. NW, Albuquerque 87114 with Pastor Malcom Bicker officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Victory Christian School Building Fund (Same Address as the Church). WAGONER -- Phil Wagoner, 60, of Hampstead, NC, died Friday, March 5, 2010. He was born on November 13, 1949, the son of June Marie Justice and the late Otis Gray Wagoner. Also remembered is his brother, Tim Wagoner, who preceded him in death. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, poppy, son, brother and uncle. He was also a friend to many others and animals too. Phil always took time to look after neighbors, widows, the lonely, veterans and the elderly. Surviving is his mother and stepfather, June and Arthur Justice; his wife, Laura; three children, Bryan, Karla and Katie; three grandchildren, Alissa, Ashlyn and Alan; a brother, Tom; several nieces and a nephew; and a great-niece and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel. WALKER -- Ennis Walker died March 6, 2010, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born November 3, 1922, in Heidenheimer, Texas. Ennis was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, and after going back on active duty in the U.S. Army, served with distinction for over 33 years with overseas tours in Europe, Viet Nam, and Taiwan as a liaison with the Chinese National Army, before retiring in 1977. He is survived by Peggy, his beloved wife of 67 years; daughter Joel Anne and husband Richard Courtney; son, Dennis, and wife Suzan; grandson Lieutenant Christopher Courtney of the U.S. Coast Guard, and wife Erica; granddaughter, Erin, and husband Jonathan Cwanek; and three great-grandsons, Noah and Ayden Courtney, and Ethan Cwanek. A celebration of his life will be held at Northeast Church of Christ, 11000 Paseo del Norte, N.E., Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Friday March 12, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
