CHACON -- Officer Philip H. Chacon 05/22/1943 - 09/10/1980 A PART OF AMERICA DIED Somebody killed a policeman today, and a part of America died. A piece of our country he swore to protect, will be buried with him at his side. The suspect that shot him will stand up in court, with counsel demanding his rights. While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long, lonely nights. The beat that he walked was a battle field too, just as if he'd gone off to war. Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold start. Yes, somebody killed a policeman today in your town or mine. While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line. Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street, and he stands at each rookie's side. He answered the call, of himself gave his all, and a part of America died.

JACKSON -- Tracy (Scott) Jackson passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 5, 2010. She was a miracle when she came into this world on July 30, 1980. She was six weeks early and weighed only four lbs 11oz. She began her life as a fighter and carried that attitude through her journey. She graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1998 with honors as a Royal Blue and top 50 of her class. She attended NMSU and received a Nursing degree from Santa Fe Community College. She was a Registered Nurse working at the VA Medical Center. She was always the first person to help people in any way. She always put other people before herself. She loved many things like making wedding cakes, weekends at the lake, being outdoors, and she had become an avid huntress. She was so graceful on a water ski, but a true klutz on land. Her greatest joy came from her "bubba love" Daniel Ray Jackson who was also a miracle when she delivered him to us on February 12th of this year. She relayed that he had taught her what it truly meant to love. She taught all of those whom she touched how to love, even more because she made us all better for knowing her. She was married to Matt in April of 2008. The love they shared was truly special and their time together however short was a blessing for him. She will be sorely missed; the world is a lesser place without her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald Scott, Joy Neie and Oliver Neie. She is survived by her husband, Matthew Jackson; son, Daniel Ray Jackson; parents, Michael and Gail Scott; brother, Curtis Scott; nephews, Riley Scott and Dustin Scott; grandmother, Betty Jo Scott; mother-in-law, Clara Jackson; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends that are also considered immediate family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010, New Life City church, 4830 Pan American Freeway NE, Albuquerque, NM, 505-323-3900. SLADE -- Jo Heyer Slade, born March 27, 1925, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a grand one at that, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2010. She was 85. She was born Billie Jo Ellis in Chandler, Arizona, one of five children of Horace and Henrietta Ellis. Her father's depression-era electrician's work brought her to New Mexico, where she graduated from Carlsbad High School. She was married to Charles Nowell Heyer, Pat Maxwell, and Ernest Slade. In her final years, her companion was her beloved Lhasa Apso, Saki. Jo Slade was a consummate executive secretary, working at Sandia Labs, GE Tempo, Kaman Sciences, and for Dean Fitz of the UNM School of Medicine in its earliest days. She was an accomplished cook, painter and poet laureate of her family's personal greeting cards. She brought humor and grace to whatever she did and never forgot the lyrics to her favorite 40's songs. Her greatest skill and dearest love was caring for and nurturing her children, grandchildren, and great - grandchildren, always accepting and treasuring their unique, even eccentric, qualities. She is survived by her sons, Lynn Slade (Susan Zimmerman), Stephen Heyer, and Barton Slade (Natalie); her daughter, Sheron Criswell (Bill); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members. She will be greatly missed, but never replaced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local PBS affiliate, her link to the world, KNME: http://www.knme.org/support/index.php.
