BACA -- Consuelo , age 85, resident of Tome/Adelino, NM, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 after a long battle with dementia. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish for her entire life and was a member of the Parish choir for 50 years. Consuelo was born prematurely and grew up in Tome plaza. Some of her fondest childhood memories were going to visit her maternal grandfather, Meliton Ortiz, in Casa Colorada, attending the Tome Fiestas, preparing for Semana Santa and other church holidays. One of her biggest joys in life was her flower garden where she raised many types of flowers year after year, but the greatest joy of her life was her daughter, Janice and then her grandchildren, Olivia, Bianca and Daniel Torres. Consuelo was also a terrific home maker, cook and baker. She made the best jelly rolls, pies and cakes. Consuelo enjoyed baking so much that her daughter and other family members jokingly said that she had caused her husbands heart problems by "plugging" his arteries. In 2000, she underwent a hip replacement surgery and subsequently was never able to return to her previous state of health. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gladio I. Baca, in 2007; her parents, Luis and Eloisa (Ortiz) Padilla; four brothers, infant Gabriel, Vicente, Placido and Anastacio Padilla; and four sisters, Dora Silva, Josefita Chavez, Dolores Montoya and Victoria Zamora. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church beginning with a public viewing on Tuesday, December 16, at 5:30 p.m. with the recitation of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jose Hernandez presiding. TAMMARO -- Frances Tammaro, 81, returned to the Lord on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 while in the company of her daughter, Donna and loving family in Oregon City, OR. Frances was born February 19, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, married her beloved Michael in 1955 and began raising a family and later moved to Rio Rancho, NM in March 1971. Frances was a devoted wife and mother. She was always nurturing to her family and friends. She was an expert seamstress, wonderful cook, and loving homemaker. Frances endured many hardships in her life on earth and overcame a stroke, Hodgkin's disease, Cancer, Heart disease, and dementia throughout her years in Rio Rancho. Despite those hardships, Frances always had a loving smile and took care of those around her. She had a warm, jovial and nurturing personality, and never showed the pain and discomfort that she endured each day. The world is full of "Unsung Heroes" and Frances was the matriarch - always doing things to take care of her family, supporting her husband and shunning the spotlight without regard to being appreciated. God has a special place for Frances and those like her whose efforts tirelessly go without being noticed. Frances was a devout and spiritual Catholic and was a longtime parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She dedicated herself to the Lord and his works each and every day. Frances and her husband Mike supported local seminarians on their way towards becoming priests in the Catholic faith. She gave of herself and sacrificed her needs for others, was a truly humble servant and an example to us all. In her departure, Frances joins her loving husband Michael to longingly be in Heaven together. The two, separated from each other almost 2 years ago, can finally be at peace together in the Lords embrace. Frances and Mike were inseparable and were truly partners together before and after Mike's death in 2006. Their marriage of 52 years was a testament to devotion and only death separated them over the last two years. They were spiritual soul-mates. Frances will be greatly missed by all, but will never be forgotten by anyone who knew her. While we are saddened in her death, we find comfort that she is at peace and is with Mike again. We find comfort that she is free of the physical ravages placed upon her and is in the loving presence of the Lord. We know that our parents will both look upon us each day and be in our hearts forever. Frances is survived by her son Michael Tammaro and wife, Rebecca; her daughter, Donna Garcia and husband, Robert; her son, Joseph Tammaro and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Steven, Robert and wife, Wendy, Francesca, Michael, Brianna and Lauren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho. Entombment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the "Seminarian fund", c/o Fr. Michael DePalma, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
