Obituary for TABOR

Roy Lee Tabor, 86, of Lubbock, passed away on December 14, 2008. Celebration of Life services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in Broadway Church of Christ Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Roy was born on April 14, 1922, in Colgate, Oklahoma, to Robert and Lillie (Young) Tabor. He married Ruth Nickel on May 5, 1946, in Weather-ford, Oklahoma. Roy graduated from Hobart High School. From there he went and joined the Navy during World War II. Upon re-turning from the Navy, he became a DPS Officer. Roy retired from Johns-Mansville Corporation after 26 years of service with them. He loved to fish and was an avid left handed golfer. Roy was a very devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 62 years, Ruth Nickel Tabor of Lubbock; a son, Gary Tabor and wife, Linda of Fredericksburg, Texas; three daughters: Teresa Nielsen and husband, Nels of Mesa, Arizona, Susan Dodson and husband, Dennis of Edmonds, Washington, and Rhonda Woodard of Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren: Erin Williams and husband, Jasen of Orting, Washington, Nels C. Nielsen of Walnut Creek, California, Toby Tabor of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cody Dodson and wife, Susan of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tarence Tabor and wife, Lucia of Dallas, Texas, Evan Dodson of Edmonds, Washington, Tonya Tabor of Denton, Texas, Robert Woodard of Lubbock, Texas, and Katie Woodard of Lubbock, Texas; two great-grandchildren: Zayne McKernan and Rhihann Williams both of Orting, Washington; two brothers: Robert Tabor and wife, Jan of Florida, and Jay Tabor and wife, Pat of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Roy was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Tabor; a brother, Ed Tabor; and a sister, Oleta Leflett. Memorials may be sent to: Health Talents International, P.O.
