ATKINSON -- Rosemary Joan Atkinson, age 84, died Wednesday December 10, 2008. She lived her final 41 years in Albuquerque. She was born in Eden Valley, Minnesota, April 14, 1924, daughter of Herman and Pauline Humbert. She lived and traveled extensively through the country as a nurse for The Santa Fe Railroad, plus Yosemite, and as a wife and mother residing on both coasts. Rosemary was also an artist, gardener, devoted Catholic, and a WWII veteran. Rosemary is survived by her husband, Lewis Francis (Bud) Atkinson Jr.; son, Donald Aldo Atkinson; daughter, Diane Marie DeLuca; and sister, Lucille Raeker. She is surrounded by 24 additional relatives and their families. Rosary will be recited Monday, December 15, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd Chapel with Deacon Kenn Sinatra reciting. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday December 16, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, with the Pastor Monsg. Richard Olona, Celebrant. BAYNE -- William Bayne, February 10, 1929 - November 26, 2008. William "Bill" Bayne, a resident of Albuquerque for the last 34 years, went to "Meet his Maker" peacefully at home on November 26, 2008 after a long illness. His wife and daughter had been with him constantly for his last ten days. Bill was born on February 10, 1929 in Boston, MA. He was the son of the late William Bayne and Margaret Magill Bayne of Dedham, MA and Brookville, NY. He graduated from St. George's School in Newport, RI. and attended Yale University. In 1952 he married Martha "Pat" Gibb of Glen Head, NY. He and his wife moved to Charleston, SC where he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. Following his service he worked for F.S. Moseley & Co. and Bankers Trust in New York. In 1961 he and his family moved to Denver, CO where he worked for Dictaphone and Standard & Poor's. In 1968 he opened his own investment advisory firm, Performance Associates - Registered Investment Counsel. In 1972 he met and married Elizabeth (Betsy) Shellabarger. In 1973 he sold Performance Associates to First Pennsylvania Bank and with his new bride moved to Albuquerque, NM. In Albuquerque Bill was a consultant to regional brokerage firm Quinn & Co. and was a Senior Trust Officer with Albuquerque National Bank. In 1978 Bill opened Asset Management-Consultant Service, Inc. and built a very successful Registered Investment Counsel firm. In 2001 he sold Asset Management to Reliance Trust Company of Atlanta, GA. He continued to work for the firm retiring December 2005. Bill loved sports with his favorite teams being the Boston Red Sox and the Denver Broncos. He loved his dogs - especially dachshunds - he had a passion for his business and his clients - he truly enjoyed traveling, both for business and for pleasure. He participated in civic activities (ACI & NFIB) and was involved in local political circles. He served as the Chairman of the Ushers Guild at the Cathedral Church of St. John for many years. Preceding him in death were his sisters Patricia Bayne Harvey and Carroll Bayne Spence of New York and his nephew, Nicholas Charles Harvey of Charleston, South Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Shellabarger Bayne; his daughter Cynthia Pease Bayne of Chandler, AZ, his son William Bayne Jr. of Tucson, AZ; his sister Margaret Bayne Wall of Vero Beach, FL; and his first wife, Martha "Pat" Gibb Bayne of Denver, CO. He also leaves five nieces and nephews and nine grand-nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 10 a.m., at the Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver SW, Albuquerque, NM. FLAKE -- Mary M. Flake, 88, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born March 31, 1920 in Yonkers, NY. She was married December 25, 1942 to William L. Flake who retired from the USMC in 1967 and preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Ransom and her husband Jerry of Albuquerque, NM; Marcia Uhl and her husband Lee of Blaine, TN; one son, David Flake and wife Dianna of Summerville, SC; two granddaughters, Lindsey Garcia and her husband Danny of Chaparral, NM; and Tara Ransom of Cheney, WA; one grandson, William Flake of Clemson, SC; and one great-grandson, Noah Daniel Garcia of Chaparral, NM. Mary was raised in Troy and Lagrangeville, NY, and attended the University of Maryland where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. GONZALES -- Gilbert A. Gonzales "Gilly", 86, a lifelong resident of Pecos and Albuquerque, went to be among the angels on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ester; children, Eva Lujan of Albuquerque, Captain Anthony J. Gonzales (USN Retired) and wife, Julie of San Diego, CA, and Angeline Maldonado and husband, Kenneth of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Lisa Guevara, Luke Smith, Loyd Smith and wife, Terri , Markus Lujan, Michael Gonzales, AJ Gonzales, Adriana Maldonado, and Mia Maldonado; great-grandchild, Tessa Hernandez; sister, Mary Darr of Mission Viejo, CA; and numerous extended family and friends including Joyce Armijo, Annabell Silva, Juanita Martinez, Tanya Hernandez, Julie Duran, Pat, Tanya, Mark, and Matthew Maldonado, Theresa Giron-Garcia and John Ullom. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura E. Smith of Albuquerque; grandson, Jonathan Gonzales; and sister, Sally King of Santa Fe. Born in Pecos to Jose and Guadalupe Gonzales on June 11, 1922, Gilbert was raised in Pecos and Rowe Mesa. In 1940, he joined the CCC in Santa Fe and was stationed at Conchas Dam and then worked in Colorado and Arizona performing defense work. He joined the Navy in 1942 and proudly served during World War II with the Naval Armed Guard located in the South Pacific, Caribbean, North Atlantic, and Mediterranean Seas. After World War II, he married Ester Mondragon of Denver, CO, and worked in Albuquerque as a plumbing and paint contractor. He then joined Civil Services with Sandia Base Engineers only to return back to the Navy to bravely serve in the Korean War while on the USS Los Angeles. Once his service was completed, he returned to Albuquerque to work again with Sandia Base Engineers and paint contracting. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing his guitar, and was an active member of the VFW Chapter 401 and DAV. In 1975, he retired to Pecos to enjoy his wife, ranch, and animals. He returned to Albuquerque in 2005 to spend his last years surrounded by his family. Gilbert was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandpa. He never met a stranger and had many friends. He was loved and will be greatly missed. The Rosary will be recited Sunday, December 14, 2008, 7:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr SW. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, December 15, 2008, 9:00 a.m., also at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father Gino Correa, Celebrant. KIVITZ -- Benjamin Kivitz, died peacefully on Saturday morning, December 14. His short life was lived fully with laughter, compassion and friendship. In his fight against cancer, Ben's true character was revealed. He took on the battle with humor, strength and rarely complained. He will be truly missed and always loved. MARTIN -- Philip J. Martin, 73, passed away on December 11, 2008. He was born May 26, 1935 to Diana and Clarence Martin, in Gallup, NM. Philip is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy Louise Martin; two children, Philip J. Martin Jr. and his wife Daphany, and Diane Martin, all of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren, Tyler, Larissa, Philip, and Samantha; two siblings, Jean and Tony. He was a generous husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. Philip was very devoted to his family and was loved by all who met him. He was an avid hunter, loved snow skiing, playing cards with friends, and was a member of Plumbers Local No. 412. MORRIS -- Rose Ann Morris, 97, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Morris. Rose Ann taught in a one room school house in Oklahoma where she and her husband also farmed. After moving to Albuquerque, they owned businesses and managed their properties. Rose Ann was a wonderful woman loved by all who knew her. MOYA -- Anthony F. "Tony" Moya, 66, lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, December 11, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Ramona; his children, Michelle and Jason Moya all of Albuquerque; two sisters, Lucy Romero of Albuquerque, and Evelyn Jaramillo of California; two brothers, Wilfred Moya and Chris Moya, both of California; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and a very special aunt. Tony graduated from Las Cruces High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force having seen duty during the Vietnam War. Tony worked for the United States Post Office 40 years, retiring in 2007. PROCTOR -- Floyd Earl Proctor, was born in Corona, NM on August 2, 1936 to Floyd and Loretta Proctor. He was the first of eight children. Growing up on the family ranch in Corona he epitomized the role of big brother to Bo, Dee, Sissy, Radna, Veda, Sandy and Alma. In 1956 he ventured to Farmington, NM seeking his fortune in the developing oil and gas industries. Floyd Earl soon became a skilled welder. With hopes of returning to ranch life his inherent work ethic and dedication to quality served him well and he was quickly accepted into the industry. While in Farmington he met and married Gwendell Jones. The couple began a family with the birth of their first three children: Veronica, Fred and Meridee. After five years with El Paso Natural Gas Co. the lure of the range drove him to purchase a small farm in southern Missouri. Ranch life in New Mexico had not prepared Floyd Earl for farming in the Midwest, Soon he was compelled to enter the work force again, but not before a fourth child, Martha was born. Floyd was attracted to the industrialized area of Northwestern Indiana, just outside of Chicago. Floyd Earl's never changing charisma and western flair overtook all that he met. It's safe to say that while in Indiana, Yankees learned to speak fluent New Mexican dialect while Floyd Earl never wore bell bottom britches. In Indiana the fifth of Floyd Earl's first five children, Tracie was born. After 13 years the call of home and open skies were to overwhelming so Floyd Earl move his family back to New Mexico. First settling in Albuquerque area then returning to Farmington as a welder. In the mid 1980's Floyd Earl returned to Corona and the family ranch helping to care for his father and ranching. In the early 1990's he resumed welding and pipeline, this time in the Permian basin, living in Eunice, NM. While living in the Southern part of the state, he reacquainted himself with Peggy Bussey from the Corona area. Floyd Earl and Peggy were married on September 5th, 1998, and soon made their home in Corona, NM. This union doubled the size of Floyd Earl's family, a true source of pride in his life. As the years, miles and rigors of life began to overtake Floyd Earl, he and Peggy relocated to Artesia, NM. Floyd Earl passed away from this world on December 13, 2008. Floyd Earl is preceded in death by his father Dee Floyd Proctor and brother Dee Proctor. He is survived by his wife Peggy, mother; Loretta, Sons; Jimmy, Fred and Chad, Daughters; Veronica, Denise, Meridee, Martha, Sam, Tracie, Edna, 27 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. His brothers Bo and Sandy, Sisters; Sissy, Radna, Veda, and Alma, numerous nieces and nephews, and a world of friends. Pallbearers will be Todd Proctor, Tim Proctor, Jimmy Maxwell, Clint Leary Sultemeier, Melvin Sultemeier and Anthony Gallegos. PURR -- Elizabeth M. Purr, 76 of Hamilton passed away December 12, 2008 after a series of unfortunate illnesses. This truly unique woman was a big sports fan and especially enjoyed watching hockey, football and NASCAR. She loved difficult crossword puzzles and was fascinated with the study of UFOs. Betty was born in Ogdensburg NY on June 26, 1932, and has resided in Hamilton for almost 50 years. She was a retired Administrative Assistant with the State of New Jersey Dept. of Health and was a member of the St. Raphael's Church. Preceded in death by her parents Francis S. and Mary E. Murray Measaw, her husband Adam Purr Jr, and son Dr. Ron Purr, Betty is survived by her daughter Kathy Purr Newlon and son-in-law Evan Newlon of Albuquerque N.M., her daughter-in-law Teri Purr of Columbus OH, a sister and brother-in-law Pat and Bruce Barr of Bradenton FL and several nieces and nephews. Betty will be especially missed by her special friends Glenn Maslowski and Jean Fell. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. from the Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home 260 White Horse Ave. in Hamilton. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Raphael Church 3500 S. Broad St. in Hamilton. SCHLEY -- Deidre L Schley, of Corrales, NM, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, December 11, 2008, after a courageous and inspiring two year battle with cancer. Dee was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and sister. Words are not adequate enough to commemorate her time with us on this earth. She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched. Dee was preceded in death by her father, Joe Stewart, Jr. and her brother, Joseph Lance Stewart. SCHOCH -- Doris Eloise Schoch of Albuquerque, New Mexico died December 9th at 12:45 pm. Her twin daughters Lynn Schoch Varshneya and Lee Schoch were by her side. She was born October 8th 1922 in Mt.Vernon, Illinois. She was the widow of Claude Schoch and preceded in death by her son Russell Schoch and her mother Ella Lowery. Survivors include her son Don Bond of Las Vegas Nevada and brother Duane (Betty) Lowery of Albuquerque, son-in-law Deepak Varshneya of Falls Church, VA, grandsons Neil and A.J. Varshneya, Scot Bond and granddaughter Cyndi Bond. A memorial will take place in Albuquerque, N.M. in the spring. Rest in Peace sweet Mother you are dearly loved.

STABLEFORD -- Vernon Guy Stableford, 57, a resident of Tijeras, lost his battle with brain cancer on Thursday, December 11, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy Stableford; son, Adam Stableford and wife Kristina; daughter, Amber Brokaw and husband Josh; mother, Barbara Erwin and husband Bill; brother, William Stableford; sister, Patricia L'Amie and husband Bill; nephew, Bryan Benson.; and numerous other loving family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Vernon was born in Kingman, AZ, on February 1, 1951, and was raised in Arizona, Louisiana, and Texas, before moving to Albuquerque in 1971. He was an automation engineer with Intel, working many years in the computer industry, previously with Singer, Modcomp, Kemtah, and Hewlett Packard. Vernon's hobbies included computers, bowling, and his model airplanes and trains. He was a longtime member of Mountainside Church of Christ, where he served many years as a deacon and teacher. Vernon was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. STOUT -- Margaret J. Stout, 81, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward D. Stout; daughter, Linda L. Haney and husband, Frank of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Michelle Myers; grandsons, Steve and Kevin Haney; great-grandchildren, Brandyn Myers, Logan Haney, Kaden Haney, Hailey Haney; brothers, John Fitzsimmons and wife, Kay, and Merle Fitzsimmons and wife, Jackie of FL; and sister-in-law, Joyce Fitzsimmons. Margaret was born in Woodland, ME and moved to NM where she worked in the finance office at White Sands Missile Range for several years. She was a girl scout leader and avid bowler. VELASQUEZ -- Delores D. Velasquez, 93, of East Carbon, Utah went to be with her heavenly Father December 13, 2008 after a long life spent in service with her family and her Lord. Born in Gallina, NM on March 18, 1915, Mrs. Velasquez is survived by her ten children, Mike N. Velasquez and wife, Delores, Eduardo C. Velasquez and wife, Sara, Ruth E. Limas and husband, Robert, David Velasquez and wife, Connie, Anita Cummings, Julie A. Davis and husband, Ken, Aurelia L. Chavez and husband, Sam, Rosemary Alderete and husband, Frank, Eli L. Velasquez and wife, Susan, Robert D. Velasquez and wife, Teresa; sister, Josefita Jacquez Vigil from Farmington, NM; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Velasquez is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Eduardo; infant son, Federico; her parents, Carmen and Aurelia (Martinez) Jacquez; two sisters; seven brothers. Eduardo and Delores enjoyed 70 years of marriage and faithfully raised their ten children. WINBURN -- Claudette Winburn, age 76, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2008. Claudette "Dette" was born on January 15, 1932 to John and Opal Richardson. She was a resident of New Mexico since 1952 residing in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Claudette was a voracious reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Oscar Winburn, her sons Roger Tyler and wife Paulette of Madison, AL; Pete Winburn and wife Betsy, Michael Winburn and wife Lynn and daughter, Kathy Freeman and husband Bernie all of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; Rachelle (Tyler) Johnson and husband James, Travis Tyler and wife Ashley, Stacy Winburn and wife Laura, Justin Winburn and wife Dena, Lesley (Gray) Ratliff and husband Robert, Tracey (Daniel) Neal and husband Taylor, Travis Daniel, Matthew Winburn and wife Shauna, Haley Winburn, Conner Winburn, Nicole (Freeman) and husband Doug, and Brent Freeman; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, John Richardson and wife Betty, sisters Shirley Shubert and Linda Gaston. Claudette was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Mary Ward and Joyce Thomas. The family would like to especially thank the personnel of Zia Hospice and Teno and Yami Vazquez of a New Day Assisted Living for the loving and compassionate care provided to Claudette. Memorial service will be Tuesday, December 16, 2008 3:00 p.m. at French Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
