QUINTANA -- Ernestina Torres Quintana (91) March 23, 1917 - April 4, 2008 Daughter of Juan Antonio Torres Sr. and Francisquita Trujillo Torres of Raton, New Mexico. Ernestina was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and baptized on April 10, 1917, at the San Felipe Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ernestina is the granddaughter of Jose Luis Torres and Sara A. Torres of Southeastern Colorado. Ernestina has two brothers, Juan A. Torres Jr. living in Raton, New Mexico and Joe V. Torres (deceased); and one sister, Francis Torres (deceased). Ernestina is survived by her two sons, Joe F. Quintana from Albuquerque, New Mexico and Eddie E. Quintana from Santa Fe, New Mexico; whose father was Eddie G. Quintana (deceased). Ernestina has three grandsons, Brian, Eddie, Justen; and two step-grandchildren, Noland and Marisa. Ernestina graduated from Raton High School in 1937 then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico after going to school in El Rito, New Mexico for cosmetology and graduated in 1940. She was employed by the El Fidel Hotel and later owned her own business on Rosario Blvd in Santa Fe until she retired in 1998, then moved to Albuquerque to be cared for by her son, Joe. Ernestina married Patricio A. Quintana of Santa Fe, New Mexico on August 11, 1941, at the Sacred Heart Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Patricio A. Quintana died as a prisoner of war in the Battann prisoner camp on July 16, 1942. Ernestina and Patricio had one child named Pat Quintana Jr. who passed away on the family ranch near Chico, New Mexico when he was six years old. In 1951, Ernestina married Eddie G. Quintana and divorced in 1960. In lieu of flowers, the Quintana family would like donations to go to the Carmelite Monastery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

ROSS -- Mavine Verna Ross March 1, 1938 - March 27, 2008. Mavine was born in Fort Thompson, SD to Verna Chase and Charles Ross. Survived by Mavine are her children, Allen, Leon, Roger aka "Dino," Joy Mace, Kayleen, Connie, Rochelle, and Rhonda Melk. Mavine's grandchildren include, Amanda, Isaac, Isaiah, Dakota, and Sheyenne Melk, Shey Taylor-Ramsey, and Kaitlyn Mace. Mavine, also known as "Mom" or "Mama Bear" was a member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. Mavine moved to Albuquerque in 1997 where she had since been a resident. Mavine loved animals and was a good friend to many. She will be greatly missed.

RUIZ -- Eulalia Louisa Acosta-Ruiz "Lala", was born August 28, 1947, in T or C, New Mexico. She passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Albuquerque. Lala was preceded in death by her father, Luis G. Acosta. She is survived by her mother, Louisa H. Acosta; brother, Henry Acosta and wife, Louisa M.; sisters, Rose Valencia, Theresa Garcia and husband, Andres; nephews, Raymond Acosta and wife, Veronica, Robert and Lorenzo Acosta; nieces, Lori Ann Urban and husband, David, Carrie, Elizabeth, Brenda, Melissa and Victoria; uncles, Pete Acosta and wife, Annie, and Rudy Acosta; aunts, Sista Gonzales, Lola Dominguez, Virginia Torres, Mickey Chavez and husband, Manuel; many grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Lala worked in the Medical Field for 17 years. She enjoyed bowling, which she did for over 20 years, as well as dancing, teaching and playing the guitar. Lala was also a participant with the San Lorenzo, Patron of Bernalillo, for many years. Lala wrote "I would like to extend a very special thank you to the Helen Urquidez who cared for me in the last part of my life. May God bless her and keep her in His arms. Many thanks to Tim Fresquez who gave me encouragement and communion every Sunday; Debra Lang with Unidas; Marla Muniz, personal caretaker and friend; Angelia Bryant my hospice nurse and friend; Aricelie Hernandez and daughter Celia for their love and care; my special thanks to Debra Neari for all of her support and lotion she sent me for my beauty; my special friend, Amelia Martinez "Grand ma" for her love and prayers. Thank you to Frank Rivera for always preparing the best food in the world. Thank you Isaac from Zia Hospice and also Carmen Chavez for being a wonder friend and neighbor. Thank you to the UNM Cancer Center Doctors and Staff, Zia Hospice Doctors and staff for everything. I love you all- take care of each other until we meet again." SANCHEZ -- Margaret C. Sanchez, 82, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born April 3, 1926, in La Joya, NM to Frank and Ascension (Barela) Castillo. She was raised in La Joya and graduated from La Joya High School. Margaret retired after 40 years of service to the Socorro County Health Office. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Sanchez; her brother, Fulgencio Castillo; her parents; and her nieces, Lynette Gutierrez and Darlene Knabe. She is survived by her sisters, Emily Chavez and husband, Amado, of Albuquerque; and Lorena Castillo of Albuquerque; nieces and nephews, Antoinette Sisneros, Melanie Sisneros, Francesca Sisneros, Jared Sisneros, Francine Gutierrez and husband, Louis, Frank Chavez and wife, Kathy, Jolynne Vigil and husband, Don, and Tina Chavez and husband, Pete; and many cousins. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 6, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Mass of Ressurection will be celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Andy Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will be in the San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearers are Danny Trujillo, Bob Irelan, Jared Sisneros, Louis Sisneros, Frank Chavez, and Pete Barros. THOMSON -- Florence I. Thomson, 87, of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008, after a prolonged illness. She was born August 25, 1920, in Charles City, IA to the late Marion and Rose Page. She graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Marshalltown, IA in 1943. She married John D. Thomson on May 19, 1943, in New Orleans, LA. Florence was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Heasty and Esther Murray; a brother, LaVerne Page; her grandson, Colin Larkin-Thomson. She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, John Thomson; three children, Irene Rose Cooper, Robert Thomson, and Greg Thomson, all of Albuquerque; a daughter-in-law, Adrienne Larkin; and three grandsons, David Larkin-Thomson, John and William Thomson; her brother-in law, Wilbur Heasty, and family; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. Interment will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. TORREZ -- Amelia B. Torrez, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday morning, April 05, 2008. She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all. VIGIL -- Luciano Vigil, 81, a long-term resident of Albuquerque, NM, died April 2, 2008. He is survived by children, Cynthia Duran and Lucian "Wally" Vigil, residents of Albuquerque, and Andrea Charlene Hooker, resident of Rio Rancho; two grandchildren, Jason Duran, resident of Las Vegas, Nevada and Bob Hooker, resident of Rio Rancho; two step-grandchildren; and sisters, Gloria Garcia and Eloisa Perea, residents of Albuquerque. Mr. Vigil was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Vigil, October 8, 2003. WESBROOK -- David Wesbrook, a former resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Easter Sunday at his home in Denver. David was retired. He enjoyed his hobbies of motorcycling, flyfishing, stamp collecting, and was a talented woodworker. David is survived by his children; Jen and Chris; his brother, Joe; and his sister, Ann.
