MARTINEZ -- Mabel R. Martinez was a life-long resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, residing in Albuquerque for the past three years. Mabel is survived by daughters; Anita Sanchez and husband; Manuel, Julie Lucero and husband; Horace; Easther (Bonnie) Martinez; sons, Alfonso (Ponchito) Martinez and wife, Solie, and Joseph Martinez and wife, Lorraine. Rosary will be held on Monday evening, April 7, 2008, at 7:00 at Immaculate Conception Church, 811 6th St., in Las Vegas. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 a.m., burial following. MCDONNELL -- John Francis McDonnell, age 78, a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 3, 2008, while surrounded by his loving family. John fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School. John served as a Military Police at the Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. He was employed with ACF for 14 years as a Lieutenant, and retired after 15 years with General Electric. After retiring John enjoyed attending daily mass at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin March Church where he served as an Usher for many years. He also enjoyed landscaping and gardening, spending time with his family, and going to breakfast with his friends. John will always be remembered as a giving man of faith, and a man who loved his family. Wherever he went he was known for his friendly personality, always a gentleman, and his great Irish smile. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deanna Doyle; his parents, brothers and a sister. John is survived by his loving and devoted wife Agnes of 58 years; his wonderful daughters, Patricia Gallegos and husband Gil, and Margie Ortiz and husband Randy; four precious grandchildren, Patrick, Candace, Gabrielle, and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Jim McDonnell; and many more relatives and friends. John will be greatly missed and our lives will never be the same without him. We love you always and we'll miss you forever. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Amber Care Hospice, and a special thank you to Mary Bouquet. Visitations will be Monday, April 7, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Monday evening, April 7, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. MONTANO -- Esther R. Montano, 53, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2008, with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Montano was born on May 27, 1954, to Alex and Annabell (Griego) Romero of Albuquerque, NM. She graduated from Albuquerque High School. She married her husband, Joe F. Montano, on May 27, 1980, in Albuquerque. She taught at West Mesa High School and Carlos Rey Elementary School. Mrs. Montano will be remembered for her deep love of her family, arts and crafts, collecting Native American arts and jewelry, and her collection of Beanie Babies. She is preceded in death by her father, Alex Romero. She is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Joe F. Montano; their daughter, Dianna Montano; her mother, Annabell Romero; sisters, Cynthia Schade, Darlene Romero, and Marlene Romero; special nephew, Dustin Schade; and special niece, Montana Romero; beloved Uncle Eddie Garcia; and numerous friends, fellow teachers and students who will mourn her passing. OYLER -- Leo Edwin Oyler, Jr., 76, of Albuquerque, died on March 24, 2008, at the University of NM Hospital from complications of lymphoma. Leo was born in Denver, CO on May 17, 1931, son of Leo E. Oyler and Mabel Harris. His early years were spent in eastern Colorado, where his father served as a County Extension Agent. Leo, a great story teller, told tales of the dust bowl days and the Depression years. His high school years were spent in Colorado Springs where he also attended Colorado College. He spent one year at the West Point Military Academy in New York State as part of his education. Stories of his college days included tales of his summer job driving tourists to the top of Pike's Peak in touring cars. Following college, Leo joined the Army and served in El Paso and Germany, where he manned a Nike missile site during the Cold War. After eight years in the Army, he worked for several communications and cellular companies. His passion for more than 50 years was Amatuer Radio, which linked him to friends locally and around the world. In Albuquerque, he was an active amateur radio operator with the current call sign of W5GOW, a member of the DX Association Club, a member of the Upper Rio FM Society Club, and a director of the annual Duke City Hamfest. Leo's parents and two brothers, Paul and David, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of six years, Carol Pond, of Albuquerque. A cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle Blvd. S.E., Albuquerque, NM, 87108 on April 28, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Interfaith Hospitality Network - a group helping homeless families - in care of Immanuel Presbyterian Church at the above address, or to a charity of your choice.

PADILLA -- Melcor Padilla, 88, of Albuquerque went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Elsie, of 61 years; a daughter, Irene Chavez and husband, Henry; three sons, Sylvester Padilla and wife, Maria, Robert Padilla, Stanley Padilla and wife, Lillian; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Maggie Olguin and husband, Faustino. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a life long member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at the Daniels Family Funeral Services, Garcia Mortuary Chapel, 8th and Stover. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 7, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery.
