MANUEL -- Wayne Omar Manuel Jr., Ret. TSgt., USAF, age 58, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2007. He was born in Galax, VA. He served his country in the United States Air Force, where he served in several deployments, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Honduras; he retired after 20 years of military service. He was a man of few words, a very giving person with an enormously big heart. Wayne enjoyed traveling, movies, photography and had a huge interest in collecting music. He is survived by his wife, Rose Manuel; his children, Geraldine, Mary Jo, Eddie and their spouses; his sisters, Carolyn G. Manuel, Karen Lukenich and husband Tom, and Wanda O'Neil; nephew, Shane O'Neil; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wayne will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services Alameda Mortuary. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Casket bearers and Military Honors will be accorded by the Kirtland Air Force Base Honor Guard. MARQUEZ -- Yvonne Lorraine Duran Marquez, 50, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2007. She was born on March 8, 1956 to Joe A. Jr.and Adela Duran of Las Vegas, NM. Yvonne was a graduate of West Las Vegas High School Class of "74" and received her LPN license from Luna Vocational Technical Institute. She continued her education at the University of Albuquerque where she graduated with her RN and then the University of Phoenix where she graduated with her BA. She graduated with top honors with each of her degrees. Yvonne worked for thirty years in the nursing profession, helping and healing others. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister and mother, whose family came first before all else. She had a deep faith in God, and lived to serve and honor Him with her life. Yvonne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Yvonne was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jose A. and Mary Duran; her maternal grandparents, Frank and Senaida Griego; special uncle and aunt, Robert and Eppie Duran. Yvonne is survived by her husband, Eddie Marquez; mother-in-law, Helen Marquez of the loving family home with her three sons, Keith Crespin, Kevin Marquez, Kenneth Marquez, all of Albuquerque; a grandmother to four beautiful little girls who are the joys of her heart, Makayla, Shayann, Ashley, Antonia; her parents, Joe A. Jr. and Adela Duran of Rio Rancho, NM; brother, Ralph Duran, and his wife, Shalene, of Farmington, NM, Jimmy Duran of Farmington, NM, Sam Duran, and his wife, Sarah, of Albuquerque; and sister, Barbara Duran Urioste and husband, Ruben, of Rio Rancho; numerous aunts and uncles from Pueblo, CO and Las Vegas, NM; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 2400 Southern Blvd, Rio Rancho. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. MENDOZA -- Maryann Mendoza, age 89, a lifelong resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in Albuquerque. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007 from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, followed by a Vigil Service at 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Los Lentes Cemetery. MILLAR -- Charles Andrew Millar, 44, a resident of Durham, NC, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mihaly Millar; and daughter, Charlotte Mihaly Millar, of Durham, NC; his mother, Sylvia Bass Levy and husband, Phil Levy of Estancia, NM; his father, Charles Anson Millar and partner, Helen Brasfeild of Socorro, NM; his brother, William Millar of Los Lunas, NM; his nieces, Miranda and Shannon Millar of Estancia, NM; his niece, Kyralia Hill of Akron, OH; as well as other family. Charles was born in Reno, NV, on May 31, 1962, and spent most of his early years in New Mexico and California. He lived for 20 years in the Synanon communities of California. After leaving Synanon, he worked for an environmental group, where he met his wife, Elizabeth. Charles and Elizabeth moved from Akron, OH to Durham, NC in 1993. Charles subsequently entered the computer field and became a Certified Novell Engineer. Charles had a great love for his family, both near and far. He enjoyed gaming with family and friends. He also loved the wilderness and the great open spaces of the West. Charles will be remembered for his easygoing nature, kindheartedness, and willingness to always help those in need. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness to everyone who knew him. Charles will be greatly missed by family and friends in North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, and California. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 2:30 p.m., at the Estancia United Methodist Church, Estancia, NM.

OYDNA -- Ludmilla Maria Oydna, 80, a resident of Rio Rancho from 1973 until mid-2006 when she moved to California, passed away on December 18, 2006. She was born April 26, 1926 the daughter of Philipp and Maria Modl Woelfelschneider in Darmstadt, Germany. Ludmilla is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Tunney Oydna of San Diego, CA; two children, Arne Oydna of Juneau, AK, and Ben Oydna of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Ethan, and Olivia. The Service for Ludmilla will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services at Vista Verde, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Chaplain Lemuel Boyes officiating. SIMEONE -- Lorraine Florence Simeone, 78, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on January 11, 2007, with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband, Donald; sons, Paul, Phil and his wife, Teresa, Chris and his wife, Tami, Pete, daughter, Theresa and her boyfriend, Deron Coleman; and six grandchildren. She had a young, energetic soul, and enjoyed outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and gardening. VIGIL -- RODERICK Sol, 33, began his journey to be with our Heavenly Father on the 9th day of January 2007. He is survived by his loving mother, Lanette Frazzini; two brothers, Nathan Vigil and wife, Liana, Wil Griego and wife, Vanessa. Rod shared his life with his fiancee, Amanda Howell and their son, Rodrick Thomas Vigil Jr.; he is also survived by his beautiful daughter, Mia Alari Vigil of California. He enjoyed spending time with his nephew and five nieces. He will be greatly missed by his aunt, Liz Garcia and grandparents, Mella Gallegos and Augustine Garcia. Rod brought love and laughter to his many friends. He was blessed with many talents including playing the drums, his love of art and playing golf. Rod will be in our hearts always and forever until we are reunited in heaven. Our greatest appreciation goes out to the Heartland Hospice staff and the many caretakers who helped Rod during his illness. VON ACKERMANN -- Kirk von Ackermann was killed October 9, 2003 while acting as a contractor in Iraq. Kirk served his country with distinction, first as a Russian linguist in the army, then as an intelligence officer in the air force. He earned numerous awards including Army, Air Force, and joint service commendation medals. Kirk was passionate about his family and devoted to them and to his many friends. He pursued many activities, and taught his children his personal philosophy: live life, don't watch it. He is survived by his wife, Megan; his children, Hilary, Katja, and Alexander; his father, Warner Newberger; sisters, Sherrie Dalton and Gina Tidwell; brother, Scott Newberger; and many nieces and nephews.
