ARMIJO -- Danny L. Armijo, 41, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 17, 2007. Danny is survived by his parents, Louie and Rita Armijo; his sister, Yolanda Armijo-Bayles and husband, Troy; two nieces, Sylvia Armijo Bayles and Tiffany Bayles; his nephews, Michael Armijo Bayles and Troy Bayles Jr.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. BARBAROSSA -- Melchior "Omar" Barbarossa, 68, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully Sunday, September 16, 2007 of a long illness. Mr. Barbarossa was preceded in death by his wife who died nineteen years ago. He is survived by one son, Omar Edwards of Glasgow, KY and one daughter. Mr. Barbarossa was best known in New Mexico and nationally for his expertise in organizing and managing major political campaigns. He was well educated and highly ambitious throughout his career. Mr. Barbarossa's keen sense of propriety directed all aspects of his professional and personal life. He loved golfing, traveling, and fully engaging himself in new projects with enthusiasm. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial's Rose Garden, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.

BLOSSOM -- Jeremiah James Blossom, 30, a resident of Albuquerque, died suddenly from complications of a heart attack on Tuesday, September 18, 2007. CLEMMONS -- Woodrow Clemmons, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. Woodrow was born on May 23, 1918 to Joseph and Sarah Clemmons in Lela Lake, TX. Woodrow married his high school sweetheart, Onieta Qualls in 1939 and have been together for 68 years. After graduation in Pampa, TX, he moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1940 to work for the Standard Oil Company as the Assistant Manager for their Sales Department. Woodrow joined the United States Navy in 1944 and was part of the Pacific Theater. After an honorable discharge in 1945, he moved to Roswell, NM leasing a Standard Oil Station for five years. He sold the station in 1951 and joined Malco Refineries and transferred to Albuquerque, NM shortly thereafter. While employed by Malco, he was assigned to a training school at DuPont Corp. to learn and then to present a program called the "Magic Barrel" and did presentations throughout the Southwest for which he received an award from the Governor of NM. In 1960, he bought Pete's Garage in Albuquerque from his father-in-law, Pete Qualls. He sold the shop and retired from the automotive repair business in 1984. Woodrow was very active with the Lions Club in Roswell and Albuquerque and was an Albuquerque Life Member of BPOE # 461, Woody loved his family and sitting on the back porch watching his garden grow, making homemade ice cream and cooking steaks. Woodrow is survived by his wife Onieta; their two children, son, Woody Joe Clemmons and wife, Kay of Hamilton, TX and daughter, Nanette Bolden of Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren, Kim Peterson and husband, Brett, Amy Sellers and husband, Jason and Sara Sterba and husband, Nate; five great-grandchildren, Breely and Jack Peterson, Hannah Sanchez-Sellers and Carlee Sellers and Brian Lucero; one brother, Lester Clemmons; and one sister, Betty Gage. COOK -- Alice Monte Cook, Our beloved wife and mother, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 17, 2007. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Earl Cook; her children, Gina Burkhalter and husband, Mark, Gemma Hermina and husband, Wahid, Jim Cook and wife, Julie, Josephine Flynn and husband, Gregg Flynn; grandchildren, Vanessa, Abbi, Ashley and Kammi Cook, Natalie, Sam and Olivia Burkhalter, Christie and Libby Hermina and Ellie and Emily Cook; her sisters, Mary Vaio and Mildred Monte; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Monte and Peggy Monte; and many loving nieces and nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her children, Mark and Suzy; her parents; and brothers and sisters. Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed. DAWN -- Darlene Harris Dawn, 69, a pianist and longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 7, 2007. She is survived by her husband, David Dawn of Albuquerque; daughters, Rachel Harris Mazzulbo of Phoenix and Jennifer Harris Cassin of Baton Rouge, LA; sons, Jay Harris of Phoenix and Doug Harris of London; her mother, Dorothy Landry of Baton Rouge; sisters, Jan Bonham of Mississippi and Kathy Wang of Houston, TX; brother, Lynden Landry of Florida; grandchildren, Ben and Olivia Cassin; nieces, Karen Johnson, Dorothy Wang, Laura Landry; nephews, Harley and John Bonham, Philip Wang, Hank and Paul Landry. Darlene was a professional pianist and music teacher for 50 years, and was principal keyboardist with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. Her love for life and music touched all who knew her. FRIEDBERG -- Opal Maxine Friedberg, 87, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2007. She was born July 5, 1920 in Dix, NE to William Albert Gunderson and Carrie Louise Kronberg Gunderson. She is survived by two sons, Eugene K. Friedberg and wife, Beth of Wichita, KS and Donald W. Friedberg and wife, Rebecca of Albuquerque. She is survived by grandsons, Michael, Jason, Matthew, David, and Kevin; granddaughters, Laura and Kaylee; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Morton Friedberg in 1982 and son, Robert Allen Friedberg in 2004. Opal graduated from Chadron State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree and from the University of New Mexico with a Master's Degree in Library Science. FUENTES -- BEN SR. Mr. Ben (Scootie) Fuentes Sr., 79, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 21, 2007. Mr. Fuentes is survived by two sons, Ben Fuentes Jr. and wife, Rosa Maria, and Ray Fuentes Sr. and wife, Jene; two sisters, Shelia Marino and Rosalie Tafoya and husband, Mike; two brothers, Jerry Garcia and Leroy Valles and fiance, Chris Armijo; four grandchildren, Ben Fuentes III and wife, Elena, Nitika Fuentes, Ray Fuentes Jr. and wife, Elizabeth and Gabriel Fuentes and fiancee, Gracie Telles; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ray Fuentes and Gabriel Izaak Fuentes; his close friend, Tomas; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Fuentes was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII in Army Air Forces Base Unit. GALLEGOS -- Robert (Bob) P. Gallegos, born June 30, 1941 passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, September 20, 2007. Beloved Son of Onofre and Margaret Gallegos and third eldest of fourteen siblings. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Julia Gallegos, Patricia Gallegos Davis; and his brother, Mark Gallegos; two nephews, Steve Naranjo, and Douglas Davis. He is survived by his sisters, Avelina Gallegos Naranjo and husband, Nick, Rita Gallegos Baca and husband, Mark, Priscilla Gallegos Rael/Toti, and husband, Carl, Lorraine Gallegos Drake and husband, Tony, Loretta Gallegos Chavez and husband, Joseph, MaryAnn Gallegos Carreon; brothers Onofre Gallegos, John Gallegos and wife, Brenda, Michael Gallegos and wife, Rhonda, David Gallegos and wife, Linda. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bob was a loyal, honest, and loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He graduated from Robertson High School in Las Vegas, NM, and from The Engineer Design School of Denver. He worked for several Oil Companies, Engineering Firms, and Pacific Air Industries (aerial photography and photogrammetry) in Long Beach, CA. Bob was a natural, talented and gifted athlete in all sports Baseball, Football, Basketball, Track, Even at marbles, sling shot, bow and arrow and billiards. He never met a person he could not strike up a good conversion with; our loss is heavens gain the Lord is Smiling. We will miss you most dearly Brother. His life will be celebrated first with a viewing at 5-7 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2007 at the French Mortuary Chapel. GENTRY -- Mae Belle Gentry - The best mother in the world! Born September 26, 1914, she passed away Thursday, September 20, 2007. Mae Belle was a long-time employee of the State of New Mexico, retiring from the Insurance Department of the Corporation Commission. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for many years. Mae Belle was preceded in death by her husband, Paul V. Gentry; son-in-law, Don E. Holcomb; and great-grandson, J.V. Gentry. She is survived by her four children, George V. Gentry and wife, Tommy; daughters, Ila Rae Holcomb, Lu Ann Van DeValde and husband, Terry, Jo Lene Gomez and husband, Chris; as well as her sister, Rae Kuykendal of Tres Piedras. Mae Belle is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. GRAY -- Richard Alan (Al) Gray died Wednesday evening, September 19, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital, Albuquerque. Al was born May 6, 1930, in Topeka, KS, to Mary Manrose Gray and Anson L. Gray. He grew up in Hiawatha, KS graduating from Baker University in1953, and from the University of Kansas Medical School in 1957. He interned at Bernalillo County Hospital, Bernalillo, NM. 1958-1959. Al and Shirley A. Gould were married December 19, 1954. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and many friends on December 19, 2004. From 1958 - 1961, Al Gray and Otis Mosley, M.D. were partners in Family Practice, Albuquerque. He did an ophthalmology residency at Denver General Hospital, Denver, CO. from 1961-1965. He and his family returned to Albuquerque where he practiced from 1965 -1998. The Gray's have resided since Al's retirement in their lovely home on the beautiful coast in San Carlos, Mexico. Family and many of the Gray's wonderful friends have had the pleasure of visiting the Grays in San Carlos. Al is survived by the love of his life, Shirley; two sons, Dirk and daughter-in-law, Lois of Santa Fe; and son, Greg of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Derek, Brittney, Kelley, Bianca, and Giovanna; sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Denny Storer of Hastings, NE; and sister-in-law, Sherry Gould. The family is asking, in lieu of flowers, that memorials should be made out to Rescate Services, Inc., a tax exempt organization, and mailed to Greg Gray, 5713 Rio Mimbres, Rio Rancho, NM, 87144. Rescate de San Carlos is the Medical Emergency Rescue Service for San Carlos. Al is the immediate past president of Rescate; both he and Shirley have volunteered many hours to Rescate. HERRERA -- Perfecto Herrera, age 86, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his bedside on Sunday, September 16, 2007. He is survived by a son, George Herrera; daughter, Shawntel Herrera; daughter-in-law, Regina Herrera; granddaughters, Suzanne Herrera and husband, Ralphie Martinez, Julie Glass and husband, Don, JoNell Sanchez and husband, William Duran and JeNee' Chinn and husband, Brian; great-grandchildren, Sammy, Jeremy, Jaselynn, Julianna, Jacob, Victoria, Isabella and Mateo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Herrera on Monday, September 3, 2007 and his wife, Cecelia Herrera in 1996. He was the last living of his nine brothers and five sisters. Perfecto was a loving, kind-hearted man. He will be greatly missed by his family. LUCERO -- JULIAN Mr. Julian Lucero, 78, a former resident of Santa Fe and Alameda, NM for 45 years and was a resident of Moriarty, NM passed away on September 20, 2007, with his loving family at his side. Mr. Lucero is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Veronica; five children, Katie (Catherine) Powers and husband, Ed, Orlando Lucero Sr., JoAnn Garcia and husband, Johnnie, JoAnn Lopez and husband, Ray and a special friend who is considered a daughter, Laree Perez; four brothers, Meraldo Lucero and wife, Lucy, Isidro Lucero and wife, Pat, Bobby Lucero and wife, Pauline, and Clyde Lucero and wife, Margo; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Lucero was a member of the Catholic Church and Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 69 and was employed by Goodrich Roofing for many years. MAESTAS -- Phil V. Maestas entered into rest September 19, 2007 at the age of 87. A resident of La Jara, NM for 37 years. He retired from the Jemez Mountain School District where he was maintenance supervisor for 15 years. He is survived by his wife Shirley; two daughters, Frances Vasquez and Annie Rodarte, both from Los Angeles, CA; son, Leon Maestas of Arizona; grandchildren, Lawrence Rodarte, Daniel Vasquez Jr., Steven Vasquez and Michelle Salcido; great-grandchildren, Justen Vasquez, Laurene Vasquez, Michael Rodarte and Alejandra Salcido; sisters, Agnes Narvaiz, Dora Rivera, Lucy Najera and Beatriz Supnet, all of San Jose, CA. MARTINEZ -- Patricia Martinez, 72, passed away on September 19, 2007 after a long illness. She was widowed twice and is survived by her children, Henrick Wolski of Cherbourg, France, Nora Selenka of Albuquerque, Joseph Simon and wife, Mary of Dover, DE, and Edward Simon and wife ,Carolyn of Albuquerque; her grandchildren, Alice Simonnet, Rene Kabakof, Donna Simon, Louis Hanke, Elissa Hanke, and Rebecca Selenka; and four great-grandchildren. MILLER -- Genevieve (Aine Montoya) Miller, entered into eternal rest on September 20, 2007 in Tucson, AZ. Genevieve was born January 15, 1923 in Casa Colorada, NM to Jose and Octaviana Montoya. Genevieve earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of New Mexico and a Master's Degree from the University of Texas. She taught in the New Mexico Public Schools initially, then entered the convent in the Dominican Order and then became a Franciscan nun and continued her career in the education field for 24 years before leaving the convent to pursue her Doctorate at the University of Texas at Austin. She was employed at the same time by the Texas Education Agency where she was instrumental in developing the bilingual education program throughout the State of Texas. She returned to Albuquerque in 1976 and taught at St. Charles and Queen of Heaven schools, respectively. Genevieve was an inspiration to her students and her family and will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her husbands, Robert Gabriel and Gilbert Lopez; and her brothers, Alfredo, Alfonso, and Eugene; and a sister-in-law, Eliza Montoya. In 1999, she married her loving and devoted husband, Robert Miller, who survives her. She is also survived by her brother, Orie Montoya and his wife, Nellie; her sister, Viola Ekdahl and her husband, Bill; her sisters-in-law, Clorinda and Eloisa Montoya; and numerous nieces and nephews. SCHIER -- Robert Frederick Schier, 84, passed away Monday, September 17, 2007. He is survived by two sons, Daniel and Eric and their wives, Judy and Anne; and four grandchildren, Evan, Caroline, Scott, and Madeline. Also surviving Bob is his Chilean son and daughter-in-law, Luis and Veronica Castro and their three children. He was preceded in death by his first child, Robert and his wife of 46 years, Betty. Bob was born and raised in Beaver Valley, PA as was his family. He was an engineering graduate of Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, and Carnegie Tech. He served three years in the U.S. Army-Air Corps and worked 38 years as a hot mill manager for Babcock and Wilcox Tubular division. Bob lived the last 13 years in Rio Rancho, NM, enjoying the wide open views, fine weather, and long golfing seasons. A testament to persistence, Bob scored his first hole in one at the age of 80 and scored his age at 79. Most of all Bob was a kind, loving, honest man who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. TARANGO -- Jose Tarango, 82, passed away after a long illness on the evening of September 18, 2007, surrounded by his family, relatives and friends. Mr. Tarango was born on December 22, 1924 in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico and had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1949. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Ramona Grajeda de Tarango, who died on January 3, 1984. VAN DOMELEN -- Bruce "Hank" Van Domelen, died peacefully at home, Tuesday, September 18, 2007 surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his children, Laura, John, and Lindy; daughter-in-law, Karen; son-in-law, David; grandson, Daniel; and his sister, Nancie Trombley and her husband, Bob. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Sally, on May 14, 2002; and his daughter, Amy on October 27, 2004. He was born on May 27, 1933 in Shelby, MI to Henry B. and Sylvia Pearl Van Domelen. Bruce attended Kalamazoo College where he met his wife, Sally. They attended the University of Wisconsin and moved to Albuquerque after Bruce received his Ph.D. in Physics. He worked at Sandia Labs for over 40 years until he retired in 1996. He loved to garden and cook where they sometimes doubled as science projects. Bruce enjoyed Saturdays with his friends both at lunch at Eloy's and drinks in the evening.
