BRIDWELL -- Mary Frances Bridwell, 81, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 7, 2004, following an extended illness. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jim; and is survived by their children, Judith Sanders of Quitman, TX, Ginger Huntley of the family home, and son, David and his wife, Natalie, of Albuquerque; as well as six grandchildren, Michael Sanders, Kimberly Crawford, Grant Huntley, Jessica Bridwell, Ryan Bridwell, and Mark Bridwell; and seven great-grandchildren. Mary was born in Anniston, AL and continued throughout her life to have deep roots in her Alabama heritage. When she was nine years old, she and her family moved to Dallas, TX where she later met her husband, Jim, when they were both working for an insurance company. Due to World War II, Mary spent the early years of her married life caring for a child while her husband was away in the Army. After the War, Jim and Mary moved to Oklahoma for a new employment opportunity with General Foods, thus beginning their life of raising children and job transfers, ultimately ending in a permanent home in Albuquerque in 1966 and remaining here after Jim's retirement in 1986. Mary loved the desert splendor of Albuquerque and always enjoyed returning home after their many retirement travels across the country. As a helpmate to Jim and a mother for Judith, Ginger & David, she exhibited all of the love and caring of a true "Steel Magnolia." Mary and Jim welcomed and nurtured all people who came into their lives, and she is loved and will be missed by all. The Bridwell family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Presbyterian Hospice Services for their excellent care and support during the last months of her life. They were faithful and supportive and always went the extra mile. Services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd., NE, from 3:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2004.
