AVERY -- Mary Dell Avery, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for 58 years, died on Saturday, March 6, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Centers and husband, Carl; son, Bob Avery and wife, Maxine, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Lucille Garcia, Jeff Centers and wife, Lori all of Albuquerque, Chris Centers and wife, Melanie of Phoenix, AZ, Carol Lee Johns and husband, Jeremy of Houston, TX, and Ryan Avery of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Aaron Johns, Alyssa Johns, and Avery Centers; sisters, Sibyl Slocomb of Texas, and Dorothy Hayman of Albuquerque; brother, Warren Graybill of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ray Avery on September 16, 1977, two brothers and a sister. Mary Dell worked at Lovelace Hospital for 27 years and was a long time active member of Grace Church. BACA -- Bennie F. Baca, age 77, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on September 8, 1926 to Polo and Anita (Fajardo) Baca in Socorro, NM. Bennie was a Veteran of World War II and retired from White Sands Missile Range in 1992 after 33 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Josie (Lopez) Baca of the family home in Socorro, NM; his daughter, Ann Baca of Socorro; and other relatives and many friends. Rosary was recited on Sunday, March 7, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 8, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father John C. Daniel as Celebrant. Burial will be in the San Miguel Cemetery with the Socorro DAV providing military honors on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Steadman-Hall Funeral Home, 309 Garfield, Socorro, NM.

BORDER -- Anna Belle Border, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, died Friday, March 5, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Patty Vasquez of Albuquerque; son, Ronnie Tobias of Reading, PA; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister. She was a member of Northdale Baptist Church. Anna Belle was a state employee for 19 years and a prominent member of the American Business Women's Association and Mountain View Rebekah Lodge # 36. Anna Belle loved making friends with anyone she met and collecting things. Services will be Wednesday, time pending, at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. BRESSAN -- Leo H. Bressan, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, March 7, 2004. He is survived by his sons, Richard Bressan and wife, Karla of Albuquerque; and Thomas Bressan of San Francisco, CA; two granddaughters, Katie and Krissy Bressan of Albuquerque; aunt, Anne Calabrese of Erie, PA; a sisters-in-law, Gerri Bressan of Erie, PA; Ruth Stewart and husband, Clint of Erie, PA; Eli Sebring of Paradise, CA; brothers-in-law, Bob Gardner and wife, Charlotte of Albuquerque; Ed Gardner of Las Vegas, NV; a cousin, Michael DiMonaco; and wife Patte of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn in 1995, and a son, William Bressan and his wife, Diana Sanchez Bressan and his brother, Joseph. Leo was born at home May 23, 1921 in Crosby, Pennsylvania. He graduated from high school in Bradford, PA. He moved to Erie where he worked for General Electric. In 1953 he moved to Albuquerque with his family to work for Sandia National Labs from where he retired. He enjoyed being with his family, his church, hunting, fishing, bowling, horseshoes, and golf. He was active at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for over 50 years where he volunteered for Saint Vincent de Paul. He was dedicated to the Boys Scouts of America and was honored for decades of service. Leo was an amateur radio operator (WD5HCB) and spent much of his retirement years working with New Mexico Search and Rescue, American Red Cross and RACES. BRIGGS -- Madeleine P. (Mimi) Briggs, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, died at 100 years old on March 4, 2004 in Albuquerque. Mimi was born in Paris, France in 1903. Her first husband, Philip Spink, whom she married in 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, preceded her in death in 1967. Her second husband, Roger Briggs, preceded her in death in 1976. Mimi was an avid contract bridge player, lifetime member of National Contract Bridge Association, and a member of Duke City Bridge Club. She is survived by daughters, Dorothy McMahon of Albuquerque, and Phyllis Page of San Jose, CA; grandchildren, Lance and Gregg Tenney, Lynne Healer, Phyllis Lynne, and Robert and Marc Pendergrast; great grandchildren, Matthew and Kristin Healer, Heather and Alexander Tenney, and Karon Sedillo; and great great grandchildren, Leo Sedillo, Zebediah and Abraham Healer. COLLINS -- Thomas V. Collins, 84 went home to be with the Lord, March 5, 2004. A resident of Albuquerque since 1962, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Collins, son Steven Collins and wife Danette of Albuquerque, and daughters Cheryl Eckart and husband J. Michael Eckart of Albuquerque, and Janice Houle and husband Andre' Houle of Belen; grandchildren Scot Collins, Danielle and Elyse Eckart and Timothy Houle; sisters Flo Baldridge of Yucaipa, CA and Lucille Honea of Waco, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents W. T. and Katherine Collins, brother Gene Collins, sisters Naomi Schmedthorst, Hazel Bertrand and Vickie Barnes. Tom was born November 19, 1919 in Waco, TX leaving there in 1939 for Los Angeles, CA. From there, he served in Special Forces entertaining the troops before enlisting in the Air Force during WWII. It was while he was stationed at Chanute Field, IL that he met his wife. They were married in Danville, IL and moved to Los Angeles where he began a career in the insurance business. After 15 years in California, he was transferred to Albuquerque as the District Manager for Woodman Accident and Life Insurance Co. In 1972, he opened his own independent casualty agency. When that was sold in 1979, he was ordained to the ministry and served as pastor and interim pastor of several Albuquerque churches. The last few years it was his joy to perform services in several retirement homes, volunteering in many different ministries serving the Lord wherever he was needed. Tom was the co-founder of Trinity Southwest University with his son, Dr. Steven Collins. He was a loving caring husband, father and grandfather, encouraging and delighting in his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He treasured his many friends and will always be remembered for his tremendous generosity of spirit, kindness and cheerful, loving nature. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution, NE with Dr. Robert Butler and Dr. Steven Collins officiating. CREWS -- Bryan Millen Crews of Las Vegas, NM. Father, brother, friend left this world on February 23, 2004. Bryan was in constant search for peace, and he is at peace right now. Bryan was preceded in death by his father, Charlie E. Crews, III, survived by his mother, Trudie Jo Jordan of Pottsboro, Tx, and brother Charles E. Crews, IV (Chas) of Pottsboro, TX and Ruidoso, NM. Son, Michael and daughter Brione of Lubbock, TX. Daugher, Raven of Lubbock, TX. Grandmothers, Frances Helen Crews of Lubbock,Tx., and Fannie G. Jordan of Willis, Texas. Companion, Barbara Cabrera, and dear friend, Tasha Vigil. Aunt - Carol Crews Covington Bryan had a life of opportunity attending school in Scottsdale, Az, at the famous Judson School, Enjoying the pleasures of ranching and cattle on the family Crews Ranch, snow skiing at Angel Fire, and the beauty and water of Conchas Lake. He loved hunting in Northern New Mexico and fishing with his father on Eagle Nest Lake. Bryan was a gold medal snow skier on the Red River Racing Team, champion water skier and an artist of metal arts. Bryan had many talents in welding. When his mind was set, he could accomplish anything. Many fond memories were created with the friends he made and kept through the Blue Ribbon Wranglers 4-H Club, and his participation in the San Miguel County Fairs and the New Mexico State Fairs in Albuquerque. He loved Charles and Kay Burk as well as "Flash" the show steer. He also enjoyed the company of Bob, Dolores, and Denise Gerhardt also, Major Tom and Marion Woods. Bryan loved his children immensely and although not the perfect father his heart was in the right place, sometimes not at the right time. Bryan dearly loved his mother and her talents in cooking. He loved sharing the pleasure of cooking with her the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner for his family. We ask that you remember Bryan and his smile and the times when he was at his best, and not for the challenges he has had in the last years. Remember his laughter and his fun. Our family would request that you hold these thoughts in rememberance of Bryan. Love is Truth and the truth shall set him free. Some things we hold in our hands, but we will always hold Bryan in our hearts. We thank God for our every rememberance of him. A private memorial will be held at Conchas Lake at a future date. DICKMAN -- Eric John Dickman, Sr., 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Saturday, March 6, 2004. He is survived by sons, Eric John Dickman, Jr., Eugene Lee Dickman and wife Patricia, all of Albuquerque and Dannie Wendall Dickman and wife Lois of Soquel CA; daughter, Sharon Gail Gilchrist and husband Gil of Los Angeles CA; brother Paul Dickman of Roswell NM; 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. His wife Mildred Margaret Mitchell Dickman, his daughter Doris Beverly Bruskas, parents Lucy and Max Dickman, preceded him in death. Rev. Dickman graduated from LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles in 1932. He was a traveling evangelist for 2 years when he met and married Mildred in 1935. He then pastored in Capulin NM, Monte Vista CO, Chappell NE, Boonville MO, Lamar CO and Albuquerque NM. He was a licensed minister for the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel for 72 years. Upon retirement he became Pastor Emeritus at the Eastgate Foursquare Church, where he taught an adult Bible class. His greatest joy was reading, studying and teaching the Word of God. Today he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His great Love and Faith were a tower of strength to those about him. GARNER -- Lucile (Lucy) Marie Garner, born March 6, 1916, in Albuquerque died March 6, 2004. She was a faithful and devout Catholic and a founding member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish. Lucile was preceded in death by her parents Florenzina and Frednando Tagliaferro, sisters Stella Semrau, Louise Tagliaferro, Frances Pearce and Irene Chiado, husband Alton Garner and daughter K. Dianne Katz. She is survived by her brother Tony Tagliaferro and wife Billie of Albuquerque and sister Jennie McNeil of Farmington, N.M. and many nieces and nephews. Lucy graduated from Albuquerque High School and Western School of Business. She was employed as a civil servant for more than 40 years. Lucy and her beloved husband Al traveled extensively during his tour of duty with the Navy and later during their retirement. They were avid fishermen and she would often go with Al on his hunting trips. They loved their dogs especially Tojo who was her faithful companion after Al's death. Lucy loved to garden and won many first place ribbons for her roses. Lucy was a loyal friend and will be missed by all her friends and family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Casa Angelica. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday March 9, 2004, 7:00 pm at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors. HOOPER -- Louisa May Hooper passed away on March 4, 2004 at Monzano Del Sol here in Albuquerque. She was 92. Louisa was a resident of Albuquerque for over 50 years, and was best known for her fabulous garden of iris and dahlias. She won numerous awards at the State Fair for her flowers, and was quite active in several local garden clubs. Louisa is survived by her daughter, Linda Ward; her four grandchildren, Greg, Beth, Stephanie and Steve Herlein; her two younger sisters, Grace and Paula Sapier, and thier children Candy and Gigi, and Mark. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Road N.E. on Saturday March 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Louisa suffered from dementia for the last years of her life and lost her husband and son to cancer. KIRCHER -- John A. Kircher, 82, passed away on March 2, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Albany, NY to Louis and Elsie Sheehan Kircher. He married Mary Hunsberger on November 19, 1923. John was a chemical engineer at Los Alamos National Labs, retiring after 40 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, C. Paul Kircher. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; five children, Monica Campbell and husband, Cecil, Ann Risinger and husband, Randy, Mike Kircher and wife, Victoria, Dorcas Boerner and husband, Brian, and Chessy Davidson and husband Chris; brother Donald Kircher and wife, Dorothy; and ten grandchildren. LASLO -- Lt. Col. Alexander J. Laslo passed away March 1, 2004, at the age of 63. He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer M. Laslo and Nancy Laslo; and family and friends, Jeanette Laslo, Anathea Griego, David Byroad, Vince Rodriquez, and others. Lt. Col. Laslo served his country in the Air Force for 22 years. NICHOLSON -- George Homer Nicholson, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, March 8, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mavis Nicholson of Albuquerque, Patricia Shrinkle and husband, Lou of San Diego, CA, Rhonda Capps and husband, Mike of Wichita Falls, TX, Robert Nicholson and wife, Cynthia of Austin, TX, and Katie Sanders and husband, Darryl of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren, Tina, Scott, Shiela, Susan, Steven, Sydney, Spencer, and Sarah; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Nicholson in 1987 and daughter, Georganne in 1986. He was retired from the Federal Government working for the BIA. Mr. Nicholson was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He had a great love of cars and loved fishing, boating, and traveling. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria NE, with Rev. Roland McGregor officiating. RADOVICH -- Glenda C. Radovich, 55, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, March 8, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Gerald C. Radovich; and sister, Shirley Cordell. Glenda was a volunteer at the VA Hospital. She was a wonderful, loving, beautiful, and devoted wife. RICE -- Jessie M. Rice, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died on Saturday, March 6, 2004. She is survived by her children, Beverly Nelson of Nucla, CO; William Rice of Bella Vista, AR and Betsi Garner of Wimberley, TX; she is also survived by four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger B. Rice, in 2003. Jessie was born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1914. Jessie graduated from Marshall University in 1936 and taught school at Man High School from 1936 to 1939 in Man, West Virginia. She married Roger in 1939. From 1965 to 1968, she was a substitute teacher at Plainfield High School in Plainfield, Illinois. She and Roger ran their own business in Albuquerque from 1968 to retirement. ROMERO -- Mr. Isidro J. Romero, 79, a resident of Pastura (Santa Rosa), New Mexico passed away on March 7, 2004. Mr. Romero is the beloved husband of 54 years to Mrs. Stella Romero. Mr. Romero is also survived by his three daughters, Veronica L. Degady and husband, Sonny, Pauline DeBasa and husband, Jose and Rosemarie Mendonca and husband, Charlie; four sons, Tito D. Romero and wife, Rosemarie, Henry R. Romero and wife, Helen S., Dr. Bazan J. Romero and wife, Paula, Rigo E. Romero and wife, Barbara; four sisters, Rita Muniz and husband Leo, Dora Garnand and husband, George, Soledad Saiz and husband, Enrique, Susie Candelaria and husband, Samuel; five brothers, Paublin Romero and wife, Emma, Pete Romero, Trinidad Romero and wife, Christine, Gregorio Romero, Wilfred Romero and wife, Rhonda; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Romero was preceded in death by two sisters, Veneranda (Bennie) Tapia and Lydia Encinias; a grandson, Tito Joaquin Romero. Mr. Romero was a member of the Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War I I. A visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Eileen Montoya. A final visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, N.M. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Irby Nichols. SAIS -- Mary Sais, age 83, passed away on March 4, 2004. She is survived by her loving husband, Greg Sais; her children, David Sais and wife, Terri of Cheyenne, WY, Barbara Mares and husband, Frank of Albuquerque, NM; Dolores Sais-Miera and husband, Joe Miera of Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Clara White; her grandchildren, Annette Sais-Suloff, Cristina Mares, Andrea Mares, Arianna Miera, Michael Greg Miera, and Raquel Miera; and two nieces, Mary Tafoya and Pat Abeyta. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, and a gentle and caring person who always thought of others. She loved to cook, sew, and work in her garden. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. SALAS -- John Salas, age 82, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home by our Heavenly Father, Sunday, March 7, 2004. John was born in Pena Blanca to the late Nicholas and Candelaria Salas; he was a resident of Alameda; and a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. John was the owner and operator of the Five Points Barber Shop for over 50 years; he was a proud Honorable Veteran of the United States Army who served our country during World War II; and was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post #13. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Thomas Salas. John is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Erlinda Salas of the family home; his wonderful children, Nick Salas and Josie, Juanita Trujillo and husband Henry; his precious grandchildren, Nicole, Jonathan, Natasha, Nathaniel and Jason. Also surviving are one sister, Lena Chavez; sister-in-law, Martha Garcia; other beloved relatives and a host of friends. John will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Final viewing will be Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. TENBROECK -- Della B. Tenbroeck, age 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 82 years died on March 7, 2004. She was born on January 25, 1914 in Verona, New York. Della moved to Albuquerque with her family in 1922, and worked for Valliant Printing Co. for many years. She met and married Hugh Tenbroeck in 1935. She is preceded in death by her husband Hugh Tenbroeck in 1970. She is survived by three sons, Donald Tenbroeck and wife Louise, Charles Tenbroeck and wife Sue, Lawrence Tenbroeck and wife Adela; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. The most important thing in her life was her family. VIZCAINO -- Henry P. Vizcaino, born August 1918, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away January 30, 2004, in Thousand Oaks, California. He is survived by his wife, Esther; a daughter, Maria Elena and her husband, Rick Taylor of Thousand Oaks, California; son, Rick Vizcaino; son, Carlos Vizcaino and his wife, Kathy of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur "Buddy" Vizcaino. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Wright, and is survived by her sons: Tracy Wright and wife Claire of Santa Fe; Eric Wright and wife Pam of Ben Lomond, CA; grandchildren: Casey Wright, Sidney Wright, and Matthew Wright of CA, Richard Wright and Aurora Wright of Santa Fe; brother-in-law, Gregory and wife Phyllis of Youngtown, AZ; and many other relatives and friends.
