Baca -- Jerry E. Baca, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Ramona Baca; children, Diana Zelnio, Jerry de Baca and wife Darlene, Elaine Baca and Priscilla Baca; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Jerry moved to Albuquerque from San Marcial when he was 12 years old. He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School. Jerry was a general contractor for most of his life. Jerry built his first home when he was 19, and he was a master roofer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Jerry had a great sense of humor and was a great support for his family whom he loved unconditionally. Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 27th, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Westside Blvd. Chapel, with Margaret Garcia reciting. Chavez -- Mr. Eddie A. (Lanas) Chavez, 70, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 26, 2003. Mr. Chavez is survived by one daughter, Victoria Chavez-Rascon and husband Johnny; three sons, Edward Chavez and wife, Maxine, Anthony Chavez and wife Elaine, Leroy Chavez and wife Debbie; three sisters, Bessie Armijo, Eluvina Perea, Julia Chacon and husband, Richard; two brothers, Ray Chavez and wife Rachel, Tony Chavez and wife Theresa; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving during Peace Time. A visitation for Mr. Chavez will be Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. by Father Daniel Balizan. Chavez -- Ralph I. Chavez, 90, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family and Priest Monday, February 24, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bess Chavez; two sons, Abe Chavez and wife, Betty of Pueblo, CO and Ralph A. Chavez and wife, Phyllis of Rio Rancho; three daughters, Cathy Chavez, Rose Gilbert and husband, Jim and Gloria Baca and husband, Carlos, all of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Sam, Frank and Pete; sisters, Lucy, Stella and Rita; and a very special family friend, Margaret Olona. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Frank O. and Helen Chavez of Belen. Ralph touched many lives with his humor, riddles, writings and poems. He will be missed by many. His articles have been published in the La Herencia newspaper. For 11 years Ralph was a school teacher in Valencia County. He retired from 33 years of service with the Santa Fe Railroad. After retirement, he went back to work as a bailiff in the Bernalillo County Courts with Judge William Riordan and Judge Gene Franchini. Ralph's memory will be forever cherished in the hearts and minds of his family, as well as those who knew him. A special thank you to Dr. Carla Herman and Sherry Reeder who provided Ralph and his family with compassion and comfort during a most difficult time. Colella -- Pasqua Colella, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Gioacchino Collella; sons, Frank Colella and wife, Isabel and Felice Colella and wife, Maria; brother, Domenico Santoro; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Elisa. Mrs. Colella was a devout parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church for over 30 years. She was a hard working soul who enjoyed helping others. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all those who knew her. Faruki -- Zuhdi T. Faruki, age 86, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on February 25, 2003. He was born in Jerusalem, Palestine. He came to the U.S. in 1951. He was a professor of philosophy at UNM in the 1960s. He also taught at Texas Tech and at Prescott College. He was a respected scholar and educator and traveled extensively. He will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched. He is survived by his brother and nephews and nieces. For those wishing to offer condolences, the family will hold an open house at his nephew, Majed's residence this Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If needed please call 823-2286.

Hatchell -- Dorothy I. Hatchell, 85, a resident of San Juan Capistrano, CA and a former long-time resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, February 21, 2003. Mrs. Hatchell was a member of Mountainside Church of Christ. Hodgson -- Josephine R."Jo" Hodgson, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, died February 4, 2003 at Mission Manor Health Care Center in Albuquerque. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jesse, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Stuart-Barajas. She is survived by her brother, Richard Van Vven; son, Thom J. Hodgson and wife, Grace of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter, Jane Stuart and husband, Bob of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Casey Hodgson and wife, Lara, Cal Hodgson and wife, amy, Laura Stuart, Anne Marble and husband, Patrick, Angie Stuart and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Caleb Hodgson, Tyler and Kelsea Marble and several nieces and nephews. lake -- Marlin Royce Lake, 46, a resident of Belen, New Mexico passed from this life to be with the Lord Jesus on Monday, February 24, 2003. He graduated from Belen High School in May of 1974. He also attended plumbing school at T.V.I. in Albuquerque. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Marlin was an artist in many mediums of art including musician, metal art and chalk artist. He made his profession in the water well drilling business. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, E.G. and Lucille Lake of Belen; his maternal grandparents, Lloyd O. and Neva Ness of Ada, Minnesota; and his nephew, Mark Morerod of Belen. He is survived by his parents, Eppa L. and Lucille (Ness) Lake of the family home in Belen; one sister, Samia Morerod and husband, Boyd of Los Chavez, New Mexico; three brothers, Steve Lake and wife, Peggy of Harpursville, New York, David Lake of Belen and Patrick Lake and wife, Patricia of Los Lunas, NM; nieces and nephews, Samial Morerod and wife, Traci and Aaron Morerod and wife,Tarah both Belen, Benjamin Eppa, Rebecca, Sarah and Rachel Lake of Harpursville, April and Danielle Lake of Minnesota, Tacarra and Kaylin Lake of Los Lunas. Meikle -- William Jackson Meikle, age 82, retired organic chemist, died Friday, February 21, 2003 of heart complications. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, graduated from Lehigh University, and did post graduate work at Iowa State University. During WWII he worked at various powder plants in Sunflower, Kansas, and Baraboo, Wisconsin, later at Olin Mathieson, East Alton, Illinois. He moved to Albuquerque in 1960 to work at Sandia Corporation. He later taught for the Albuquerque Public School System at Community School. He is survived by his wife, Frances; and seven children, son, Andrew Meikle and wife, Dana Renz and grandsons, Alexander and Braeden of McLean, VA; George Meikle of Cary, NC, son, William and wife, Anne Neuenschwander and granddaughter, Irene of Montpellier, France, daughter Susan Meikle of Bethesda, MD, daughter, Catherine Potts and husband, Brian Potts and grandchildren, Nina and Liam of Brookline, MA, Barbara Meikle and husband, Bill Plitt of Tesuque, NM, Maggie Silva and husband, Bill Silva and grandchildren, Simone, Nathan, and Madeline of Albuquerque. Meinen -- Dena Jane Meinen, 83, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1969, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2003. Dena was born January 16, 1920 the daughter of Noah Douglas and Lydia Florence Robins Byrd in Oakdale, Tennessee. Dena had been a waitress before retiring and spending time with her husband, Albert. Dena and Albert came to New Mexico from Toledo, Ohio. Dena was preceded in death bytwo brothers, James and Lawrence Lee Byrd; and two sisters, Reba Headrick and Lois Ruth Smith. Montoya -- Ernest V. Montoya, 78, passed away February 22, 2003. He was born in Santa Fe, NM to the family of Eugenio and Eduvijes Montoya. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired from KAFB. He was preceded in death by both his parents; and brothers, Edward, Eugene, Lee, Sam and Leroy. Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Roma; and their three sons, Michael, and his sons, Nathan and wife, Monica, their children, Antonio, Eloday and Dominic; Ernest Jr. and his children, Katrina, David and his daughter, Jillian and son, Richard; Paul and his wife, Eva and their children, Desiree and Dustin. Mora -- Oracio Mora, age 75, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003. He was born in Cuba, NM, and raised in Bernalillo, NM, where he resided. Oracio was a Veteran, having served in the Army, Army Air Corps, and US Air Force during and following WWII. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eufelia; and two daughters, Gloria and Rita. Oracio is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Corina; son, Martin H. Acosta and wife, Lucille; three sisters, Ruby Valencia, Hoby Griego, and Veva Baldonado; three brothers, Frank Mora, Andrew Mora and wife, Margaret, Henry Mora and wife, Gloria; Seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Paskind -- Martin Benjamin Paskind, son of Harry Arthur Paskind and Lenore Simons Paskind, was born November 24, 1936 in Evanston, IL and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1941. He died February 24, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lenore. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lynn; his daughters, Leah A. Roff and Rebecca L. Paskind; his grandchildren, David M. and Grace L. Roff; and his sons-in-law, Kent R. Roff and Bret Halford. Martin is a graduate of Santa Fe High School. He served in the United States Army from February 1956 to January 1959 and received an Honorable Discharge on January 31, 1962. He held both B.A. and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of New Mexico, he graduated in 1973. For four years, Martin served as a reporter with the Albuquerque Journal, followed by five years as President and part-owner of a local public relations firm. He was admitted to the New Mexico Bar in 1973 and to the courts of the Navajo Nation in 1979. Through out his legal career he continued to pursue his love of writing, serving as a member of the Board ofEditors for the Family Advocate and most recently as columnist for the Albuquerque Journal. Martin was active in community service, serving at various times on the boards of the Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, the New Mexico affiliate of the American Heart Association, Planned Parenthood of New Mexico, and the Rehabilitation Center and as board member and past president of the First Unitarian Church. Martin served in numerous capacities with the New Mexico Bar Association and over the course of his career he received the Outstanding Contribution Award in both 1989 and 1996 and the Distinguished Bar Service Award in 1999. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Martin B. Paskind Memorial Fund at the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union, this fund will be used to encourage high school students around the state to consider careers in law or journalism. Pierce -- Edna Lois Pierce, 81 and a resident of Albuquerque for 33 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 in Albuquerque. Her husband of 59 years, Dwight Pierce; and her brother, Maurice Miller, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sisters, Fern Nilson and Verna May Felts and husband, Roland; two sons, Paul Pierce and wife, Sharon and Jim Pierce and wife, Jan; four grandchildren, Brenda Eatough and husband, Michael, Tamara Labit and husband, Jim, Ted Pierce and wife, Allyson and Katie Jacquez and husband, Ram; five great-grandchildren, Dustin Labit, Dillon Labit, Katherine Eatough, David Eatough, and Cody Pierce; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Edna was born in Stratton, Nebraska on January 25, 1922. She grew up on a farm south of Stratton. She married Dwight on July 19, 1942, and she was very devoted to Dwight and her family. Edna and Dwight worked very hard for 30 years to make their farm and ranch north of Stratton, Nebraska a show place that was very successful. They raised various grains and registered Black Angus cattle that they sold over much of the United States. In 1969 they moved to Albuquerque to be near their sons and their families. Edna had a love for flower gardening, sewing, and playing the organ and piano. Richmann -- Anna"Annie" Richmann, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilhelm. Annie and Wilhelm immigrated to the United States in 1951 from Cologne, Germany. Upon their arrival in the United States with their son, Bernhard and daughter, Monica they settled in Sheboygan, WI until their move to Albuquerque where their second daughter, Maryann was born. She is survived by her son, Bernhard and wife, Carol Richmann of Truth or Consequences; daughters, Monica R. and husband, Ernest E. (Gene) Ortega, and Maryann Richmann of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Renee (Richmann) Arner and husband, Paul of Salt Lake City, UT, Jeannine (Ortega) Arnold and husband, Randy of McIntosh, NM, William Richmann and wife, JoAnn (Perea) of Albuquerque and Dominic Richmann of Truth or Consequences; five great-grandsons, Eric and Aaron Richmann of Albuquerque, Pierce and Kyle Arner of Salt Lake City, UT and Joshua Arnold of McIntosh, NM. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene Grewe; and sisters-in-law, Maria Niklas and Rosal Futterlieb, who live in Germany. Annie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to: Lillian and Francisco Medina with Tender Loving Care and Bernadette Martinez of Zia Hospice for the excellent love and care they extended to Annie, our beloved mother. Sedillo -- Our hero, Justiniano"Justin" Sedillo, 78, passed peacefully at 1:30 a.m., on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at Lovelace Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evangelisto and Domitilia Ramos Sedillo; brothers, Roque, Herman and Anselmo Sedillo. He is survived by his three brothers, Diego, Gavino, both of Albuquerque, and Felix of El Paso, TX; sister, Alfides of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Sedillo was a proud Veteran of WWII. He attended schools at Monticello, Hillsboro and Socorro, NM. He was a farmer and rancher in Monticello prior to moving to Albuquerque, where he worked at Valley Gold Dairies and then for the State Highway Department. Mr. Sedillo suffered a serious accident while employed by the Highway Department, fracturing both of his legs. It was thought that he would never walk again, but through his strength and determination, he did walk. Mr. Sedillo took loving care of his aging parents until their death, and continued caring for his infirmed sister until the day he died. He loved sports, and was a great fan of the U.N.M. Lobos and Notre Dame. Mr. Sedillo was the initiator of the Annual Sierra County Reunion and several family reunions. He was the focal point of his family and many friends regarding events such as funerals, weddings, celebrations, etc. Mr. Sedillo was a very religious man with a strong faith. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, always giving a wonderful example to everyone he touched, especially his nephews and nieces, by the way he lived his life. Rosary will be recited Friday, February 28, 2003, at 7:30 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 10:00 a.m., also at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. West -- Lewis S. West, Sr., 82, was called to his heavenly home Monday, February 24, 2003. He was born in Texas but was raised in Pie Town, NM and moved to Albuquerque in 1947. He is survived by his wife, Joanna; daughter, A'Dana Fowler and husband, Wayne, all of Albuquerque; son, Pastor Sid West and wife, Peggy, of Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren, Jerry Edmond Welch, Amy Welch and fiancée, Justin Wittosch; Kandy Behn and husband, Dr. Kevin Behn; Cindy Fletcher and husband, Brian Fletcher and Christina West and fiancée, Steven Bentley; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Weldon West and wife, Bonnie; Curtis West, Herschel West and wife, Joy, and Otho West and wife, Virginia; sisters, Inez Moore and Vivian Vaughn; sister-in-law, Bobbi West; and many, many relatives and friends and his church family at Sandia Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Ada West; sisters, Shirley Campbell and Zona Gish and brother, Elmo West. Mr. West was a Veteran of WWII and retired from the motor pool at Sandia National Labs after 34 years. Services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2003, 1:00 p.m. at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. NE with Dr. Robert Butler and Pastor Sid West officiating. Interment will take place Monday, March 3, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Dr. Kevin Behn, Ed Welch, Steven Bentley, Justin Wittosch, Tad West and Truman West.
