Paskind -- Martin Benjamin Paskind, son of Harry Arthur Paskind and Lenore Simons Paskind, was born November 24, 1936 in Evanston, IL and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1941. He died February 24, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lenore. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lynn;ť his daughters, Leah A. Roff and Rebecca L. Paskind; his grandchildren, David M. and Grace L. Roff; and his sons-in-law, Kent R. Roff and Bret Halford. Martin is a graduate of Santa Fe High School. He served in the United States Army from February 1956 to January 1959 and received an Honorable Discharge on January 31, 1962. He held both B.A. and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of New Mexico, he graduated in 1973. For four years, Martin served as a reporter with the Albuquerque Journal, followed byť five years as President and part-owner of a local public relations firm. He was admitted to the New Mexico Bar in 1973 and to the courts of the Navajo Nation in 1979. Through out his legal career he continued to pursue his love of writing, serving as a member of the Board ofťEditors for the Family Advocate and most recently as columnist for the Albuquerque Journal. Martin was active in community service, serving at various times on the boards of the Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, the New Mexico affiliate of the American Heart Association, Planned Parenthood of New Mexico, and the Rehabilitation Center and as board member and past president of the First Unitarian Church. Martin served in numerous capacities with the New Mexico Bar Association and over the course of his career he received the Outstanding Contribution Award in both 1989 and 1996 and the Distinguished Bar Service Award in 1999. In lieuť of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Martin B. Paskind Memorial Fund at the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union, this fund will be used to encourage high school students around the state to consider careers in law or journalism. Memorial Service will be held at the First Unitarian Church, Friday February 28, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. Family visitation: Friday evening following the service and Saturday afternoon from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the family home at 1605 Morningside N.E.
