Ames -- Ruth M. Ames, age 86, a 24-year resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, December 25, 2002 in her home. Her daughter, Denise Ames of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Dennis Beurskens and Mia Beurskens both of Tempe, Arizona were present. The family previously resided in Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil L. Ames. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Apodaca -- Juanita"Mina" Apodaca, 90, went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2002. She was born on January 27, 1912 in Trementina, NM. Mrs. Apodaca is preceded in death by her husband Juan Jimenez, sister Tomasita Johnson, brothers Aurelio Apodaca, Celedon Apodaca, Isidoro Apodaca, Simon Apodaca, Julian Apodaca, and Eugenio Apodaca. She is survived by one son, Frank Jimenez and wife Ida, three daughters, Ida Padilla and husband Gilbert, Yvonne Estrada and husband Jose, Maria Elena Chacon, and one sister Carolina Apodaca. She has nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Juanita was a Harvey Girl in the 30's and waitress at Desert Sands for several years. She was also a member of The Guadalupanos at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and a member of the North Valley Senior Center. Juanita will be deeply missed by her loving family. A rosary will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Monday, December 30 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Tuesday, December 31 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mt. Avila -- Tony A. Avila, was born October 2, 1924, and passed away December 27, 2002. Tony is survived by his wife, Isabel Avila; sons, Ray Avila and wife Kina, Robert Avila and wife Feliz, and Eddie Avila; daughters, Linda Buckner and husband Henry, Priscilla Mullins and husband Rick; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; many other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Tony served proudly in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Saratoga. Services will be held at San Jose Catholic Parish, 2401 Broadway SE. Bachmann -- Arthur Lewis"Bachy" Bachmann Sr., 79, a long time resident of New Mexico, passed away Monday, December 23, 2002. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the US Army where he served in the European and Pacific Theaters during World War II. Mr. Bachmann was, at one time, a stonecutter and bricklayer, but he pursued his love of music, playing in many local establishments including Sandia and Kirtland Air Force Base. He was considered one of the finest jazz guitarist in Albuquerque, and many families will remember him as the kindly banjo player at Shakey's Pizza Parlor at Louisiana and Central for 15 years. He was member of the musician union locals 142 and 618 since 1941, resigning recently. Mr. Bachmann was married to Madelon Hammer in 1943. They celebrated their 59th anniversary on Sunday, December 22, 2002. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Madelon, his daughter Linda L. Smith; six grandchildren and spouses, Deanna and Bill Hoak, Julie Yearout and Bryan, Billy G. Smith, Arthur L. Bachmann III and Kari, Matthew Bachmann and Melissa, Jamie Jordan and Shawn; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Caitlin, Blaine, Kaylee, Jordyn and Sadie; daughter-in-law, Mary Bachmann; two sisters, and his many friends in Albuquerque and Las Vegas, NM, where he lived for 13 years. In later years ¯Bachy¯ enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with his wife. In his spare time he enjoyed his hobby of woodworking. He was preceded in death by his only son Arthur L. Bachmann Jr. in November 2001, and his son in law Bill G. Smith in July 2002. His talent, kindness, humor and wonderful smile will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held sometime in January 2003. A private burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Barrera -- Mrs. Sara M. Barrera, 75, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 24, 2002. Mrs. Barrera is survived by six daughters, Emma Chavira and husband, Raul, Silvia Chavez and husband, Gilberto, Gloria Gallardo and husband, Jose, Monica Segovia and husband, Alvaro, Adriana Ribota and husband, Jose, Veronica Valverde and husband, Jesus; one sister, Alicia Crispin and husband, Monico; three brothers, Gilberto Terrazas, Humberto Terrazas and Enoc Terrazas and wife, Bertha; seventeen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Barrera was a member of the Catholic Church. Brickle -- Anna Louise Brickle Anna Louise Brickle, age 88 years, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2002. She was born December 2, 1914 to John Pihlak and Lena Weikman in Gillette, Wyoming. After receiving her Diploma in Nursing from Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County, Wyoming; Anna served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The family wishes to express their thanks to Pastor Randy Walquist of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Coppock -- Don L. Coppock, Sr., 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Friday, December 27, 2002. He is survived by his sons, Don L. Coppock, Jr. of Belen and Vern C. Coppock of Albuquerque; daughters, Janet Chavez and husband, Henry of Bosque Farms, Beatrice Miles, Esther Evans and husband, Don, all of Albuquerque, Laverna McCloskey and husband, David of Bosque Farms and Ruth Soflin and husband, Craig of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Richards of Goleta, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and brothers, Keith and Fred Coppock. Don was Labor Commissioner of New Mexico from 1959-1962. He was a life member of B.P.O.E. #408 in Las Vegas, NM, and a Santa Fe Railroad conductor for 21 years. Corey -- William Lindley Corey, 94, was born December 8, 1908, in Leedy-Trail, Oklahoma. The son of Albert C. and Nora Belle Corey. A resident of Albuquerque for 69 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary L. Corey; his son, William R. Corey; and daughter, Myrna Lea Corey. He will be deeply missed by all his sons, Robert L. Corey of Albuquerque, Thomas A. Corey and wife Joann of Kentucky; his daughters, Lucille Guempel and husband, Grover of Florida, Ruth Klingaman, Mary Lou Beckman and husband Kenneth, Lois Turnage and husband O¯Neal of Albuquerque; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; extended family; and countless friends. Denney -- Gladys M. Denney, 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died Thursday, December 26, 2002. Duran -- Orlando"Red" C. Duran, a lifelong resident of Alameda (Albuq. North Valley), passed on to be with our Lord early Friday, December 27, 2002. Red was born on January 27, 1946, to Ernesto and Flora Ortega Duran that preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his wife Rose Trujillo-Duran and two brothers-Ernest Duran Jr. and Daniel A. Duran. He is survived by his brother Dr. Levi I. Duran and wife Loretta Sekot-Duran, of Albuquerque; sisters Georgia Duran and husband Joe Castillo of Albuquerque, Orlinda and husband Ray Faini of Wenatchee, WA, Vivian and husband Jim Jungbauer of Pullman, WA., Norma Jean Duran of Phoenix:, AZ., and Isabel Tapia of Albuquerque. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces including Brian and Max Duran that lived and cared for him at his home in the North Valley. Red served in the US Army from 1965-67. He received his Bachelors of Science from Washington State University with the Class of 1977. He taught Industrial Arts in the Cuba and Los Lunas Schools. He also worked at TVI and UNM. Red was a generous, kind and quite person. A rosary will be recited on Monday, December 30, 2002 at 7:00p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 9502 4th St. NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00a.m on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with Father Juan Mendez celebrant. Johnson -- Jim C. Johnson, Jr., 48, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, died on Friday, December 27, 2002. Jim was a beloved husband, father and friend. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carol Johnson; son, David Johnson; daughter, Rebecca Johnson, all of Albuquerque; nephews, Jeremy and Colin Johnson and niece, Nicole Johnson and her daughter, Isabelle. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy, father, Jim, Sr, and both brothers, Steve and Greg Johnson. Jim worked for Petroleum Development Corporation for 25 years, specializing in oil and gas exploration. Much of his work had been in Southeastern NM, West Texas and as far north as Wyoming. Jim enjoyed many hobbies with his family including running, boxing, camping, boating, fishing and skiing. He boxed Golden Gloves for many years and was the light-heavyweight Toughman Champion in 1985. He was known as"Gentleman Jim" in the Albuquerque boxing community. After retiring from fighting he coached boxing at the South San Jose Community Center. He graduated from Sandia High School in 1973 and UNM in 1977. He was a longtime member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy NE, with Pastor Larry Moss officiating. Jones -- David Reese Jones, born and raised in Havre de Grace, MD, a resident of Placitas, and a longtime resident of Kingman, AZ, passed away the morning of December 26, 2002. David was born on April 1, 1921 to Davis and Mildred Jones. Despite being struck deaf by an Independence Day prank at age 18 while in the CCC, David overcame his challenges and became a very successful producer of travelogue films. He was also one of the premiere workers of desert ironwood in the country. David added furniture design and finishing/refinishing, silversmithing and photography to his repertoire, and enjoyed steam and model trains of all kinds. He also attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Albuquerque. David will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his precious children, Darlene Muth and her husband, Steve of Placitas, Dennis Jones and his wife, Patricia of Rio Rancho, and Donna Garner and her husband, Bill of Kingman AZ. He is also survived by his sister, Marceline Stephens and her husband, Malcom of Havre de Grace MD; and his brother, Rodney B. Jones of Pikesville MD; his nine grandchildren, Sarah, Brandon, Molly, David, Amy, Travis, Rebekka, Dorothy, Sally; and his six great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Maisy, Ariana, Mallory, Elias and Conner. Kelly -- Robert P. Kelly. The Kelly family is saddened to announce the death of Robert P. Kelly, beloved husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. Bob's gifts to us have been many. His virtue and generosity, his consistency and skill, his profound love of God, wife, family, and friends--through these Bob has inspired us all. Those of us who looked to Bob as a source of strength know how his presence will be missed and how his spirit will continue to thrive in everything we do. Robert Parker Kelly was born on July 17, 1929 in Highland Park, IL. A resident of Albuquerque since 1943, Bob graduated from St. Mary's High School and attended The University of New Mexico. For over 40 years, he worked at Sandia National Laboratories, where his duties included department manager of both labor relations and security; he retired in January 1992. Bob was an avid Notre Dame football fan and an avid golfer who once won the Kelly Golf Invitational, an annual event he relished. He was a respected member of Annunciation Parish for over 40 years, where he acted as a lector, a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of both the Social Concerns Ministry and of the Companions on the Journey. The great joy of Bob's life was his large and devoted family, which includes his wife Dolly, his seven children and their spouses (Bob and Barbara Kelly; Jane and Jim Blankenship; Mike and Marianne Kelly; Pat Kelly and Lori Hunt; Brian and Julie Kelly; Dan and Suzanne Kelly; Matt and Marianthe Kelly) his fifteen grandchildren (Jennifer and husband Phil Lewis; Crystal, David, and Jonathan Kelly; Sarah, Sam, Mary, and Leah Blankenship; Meghan Kelly; Sophie, Aidan, and Catherine Kelly; Camille Kelly; Jane and Claire Kelly), and his two great-grandchildren (Arwyn and Alhana Lewis). To his wife Dolly, Bob was a loving husband and friend for over 52 years; to his children and grandchildren, he was a model of warmth and integrity; and to all who knew him, Bob Kelly was a man of intelligence, sensitivity, and fine company. Bob is also survived by his brother Jim and his wife Theresa, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Tom. Koehler -- Rev. Robert L. Koehler Jr., 84, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, passed away December 24, 2002. His wife of 60 years, Florence C. Koehler, passed away in November, 2002. He is survived by daughter, Kristin Koehler of Brooklyn NY; sons, Robert, III of Buffalo NY, John of Noble Ok, and Richard of Aurora CO; and seven grandchildren. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of their Father's friends for the many kindnesses shown to him over the past months. They would also like to thank Mr. Scott Porter of Zia Hospice for the care and compasion he showed to Robert and his children in his final days. Rev. Koehler was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Lutheran Seminary at Philadelphia. He served calls in Harrisburg PA, Buffalo NY, New York City, and Denver CO, before coming to the Albuquerque area in 1977. He was an active member of All Saints' Lutheran Church and of the Sandoval County Historical Society. A Memorial Service will be held early in 2003. Lopez -- Aladino J."Al" Lopez, 82, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 26, 2002. Lutkenhouse -- Henry E. Lutkenhouse, Col. USAF, (Ret.), 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, died Thursday, December 26, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Lutkenhouse of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Buchanan and husband, John of Burke, VA; son, Richard Lutkenhouse of Albuquerque; grandson, Matthew Buchanan of Burke, VA; niece, Anne Lutkenhouse of Staten Island, NY; and numerous cousins. Col. Lutkenhouse was born April 20, 1922 in New York City to Henry A. Lutkenhouse and Lucienne Becard. He was educated in Staten Island, NY and attended 2 years in college. Col Lutkenhouse was with the 456th Bombardment Group (H) in Italy and 99th Bombardment Group, a distinguished B-17 Flying Fortress Group (H) where he completed 50 missions. He was also on the 1st shuttle mission to Russia. Col. Lutkenhouse served at Yuma AAB, AZ, Marfa AAB, TX, Bryan AAB, TX and Pittsburgh Flight Services Center. Future assignments were at Kindley AB, Bermuda, Maxwell AFB, AL, Kadena AB, Okinawa, Sandia AB, NM, Pentagon and Forrestal buildings, DC and Gunter AFB, AL. Col. Lutkenhouse retired April 1, 1973 as Director of Logistics Systems, AFDSDC, after 31 years of service. He received Legion of Merit, Air Medal w/3/OLC, Joint Service Commendation Medal, AF Commendation Medal w/1/OLC, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/6/BSS, WWII Victory Medal, National Defense Medal w/1/BSS, Presidential Unit Citation, AF Outstanding Unit Award, American Campaign Medal, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/6/OLC, Armed Forces Reserved Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. Lynch -- Joseph I. Lynch, 39, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 25, 2002. Joseph is survived by his loving mother, Eileen G. Lynch; a brother, John B. Lynch and wife Chris; one niece, Ashley Lynch; two nephews, Derek and John David Lynch; Godparents, Ray and Barbara Zimmer; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Lynch and his father, Thomas W. Lynch. Joseph was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy currently with the U.S. Navy Reserve. Joseph is employed with Albuquerque Ambulance and was an emergency medical technician for 14 years, Joseph attended St. Francis Seminary High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduating in 1981 from St. Pius High School. Maestas -- Mr. Flavio Maestas, 80, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 27, 2002 at home with his loving family at his side. Sharp -- Leland A."Lee" Sharp born November 11, 1922 passed away December 5, 2002 after a long illness. He joined the US Army Air Force from February 1943 to October 1945, flying 25 combat missions with the 398th Bombardment Group in the ETO. He married Yvonne Brown of Amarillo, TX in 1945. In 1959, they moved to Albuquerque where he operated Lee Sharp 4-Wheel Drive Center, retiring in 1984. Lee will be remembered fondly by both family and friends for his positive attitude, warm smile and quick wit. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Best. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Gail Oliver and her husband, Scott, Kimberlee Ratto and her husband, Terry; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Lowell E. Sharp and his wife, Bettye; numerous nieces and nephews. Tillman -- Harriet Belle Tillman, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947 died December 25, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Celeste Forster; two brothers, Fred and Mark; and husbands, Edward Charles (Mac) McNeely and John E. Tillman. She is survived by her daughter, Therese Moore and her husband, Douglas Moore; and grandsons, Timothy and Peter of Albuquerque; cousins, Celeste Lemke of Silver City, Ada Jane Cross and husband, Ben of Mesa, AZ Don Forster and wife, Doris and Fern Courtney of Denver CO. Harriet was born August 25, 1923 in Denver CO. She grew up in Hurley and Silver City, NM and married E.C. McNeely in Nov. 1947. They had one daughter, Terrie. Following Mac's death in 1966, Harriet returned to work as a secretary for A.P.S. serving at Madison, Cleveland and Monroe Middle Schools. She retired in 1983 to become a full-time mother and grandmother as well as a surrogate mother for many of the friends that she had made while working at A.P.S. In 1988 Harriet married John Tillman. Together they traveled extensively and spoiled their grandsons. Harriet was an avid Bridge player. She was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church and was active in many church activities. Following John Tillman's death in 1993 Harriet became reacquainted with an old friend Lloyd Hughes who was a dear companion for the last several years. Together they RV'd to various locales around the U.S. and into Mexico. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Dec. 30, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Castillo Wilson presiding. A reception at the church will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The Storehouse, Women's Community Association, or Christ United Methodist Church.

Trainor -- Kathryn Felicitas Trainor, 83, was raised in Albuquerque and died Thursday, December 26, 2002. She is survived by her husband of more than 58 years, Lt. Col. (Rtd) Thomas G. She is survived by her sons; Ron Nelson of Albuquerque and Eugene Nelson and wife, Nancy of Florida, devoted daughter-in-law, Etta Nelson; ten grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. Young -- Roy M. Young, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clara Caroline; daughter, Vicki Anderson of Boulder, CO; sister, Jean Crisler and husband, Leo of Los Alamos; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a multitude of loving friends and relatives. Raised in Dalhart, TX, Mr. Young served in the European Theater during World War II. He came to Albuquerque as an employee of Broome Furniture Company. Mr. Young was President of Franciscan Furniture Mfg. Co. from 1949 until 1971 when he retired. His favorite hobbies were fishing, mall walking at Winrock Mall and spending time with family and friends. Graveside services will take place Monday, December 30, 2002, at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Zmolek -- Charles R. Zmolek, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1984, died Thursday, December 26, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Georgiana"Ginni" of Albuquerque; sons, Martin Zmolek and wife, Susan of Denver, CO and Wesley Zmolek and wife, Carol of Freemont, CA; daughters, Lilianne Hurell of Sierra Vista, AZ, Amy Sloan and husband, Daniel of Oak Ridge, TN, and Holly Kienlen and husband, Kent of Powell, WY; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Zmolek was in the US Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked with radios and radar. In the early 1950's, he worked on the DEW Line with defense projects in Alaska and Canada. He was Senior Plant Engineer at Bell Labs, designing clean rooms for computer chips in the 1970's and until his retirement in 1984. He was active in his church, serving a mission in 1989 in Poland. Services will be held Monday, December 30, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12701 Indian School Rd. NE, with Bishop Jim Luke, conducting.
