Padilla -- Anita"Annie" Padilla, 72, a resident of Jarales, NM, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at an Albuquerque hospital. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She worked as a nurses-aid for the Belen General Hospital, which later became Belen Presbyterian Hospital, and retired after 32 years of outstanding service. Her specialty was taking care of newborn babies and their mothers for many years. Until her passing, she was always approached by many thankful mothers who she had helped through their pregnancy and delivery for the kindness and gentleness shown to them. Anita and her husband, Jacob, willingly made many sacrifices needed to see that their children were well educated. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Jacob Padilla in 1991. Anita is survived by her loving children, Ted and wife, Theresa of Albuquerque; Edwin and wife, Kathy; Veronica Padilla; and Yvonne McCloud and husband, Randal, all of Jarales; six granddaughters, Jessica Padilla; Colleen Padilla Hanley and husband, Kieran; Kimberly Padilla; Geneva Padilla Carter and husband, Carey; Carrie McCloud; and Frances Padilla; three grandsons, Robert Elvidge Padilla and wife, Melissa; Diego McCloud; and Jacob Padilla; four great-granddaughters, Rosa Padilla; Caitlyn and Kiera Hanley; and Brooklynn Carter; one brother, Pete Maldonado and wife, Sharon of Roswell, NM; four sisters, Ruth Haway of Albuquerque; Antonia Kincanna and husband, Fred of Rosemead, CA; Juanita Aragon of Tome, NM; and Emma Castaneda and husband, Carlos of Jarales; and her very special comadre, Tomasita Valdez and husband, Ramon of Torreon, NM. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. in Romero Funeral Home with a rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 12:00pm in Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Belen Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be Randy and Diego McCloud, Robert and Jacob Padilla, Carey Carter, Joe Manuel Zamora, Colleen Hanley, and Kimberly Padilla. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM 87002.
