Allison -- William Shirley Allison, 80, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 16 years, and coming to Rio Rancho from Alamogordo, New Mexico passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2002. Shirley was born April 18, 1922 the son of John H. and Arelia M. Sykes Allison in Walnut Hill, Florida. He served in the US Navy during WW II after which he worked in the Civil Service under the United States Air Force for 20 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed his family. Shirley was preceded in death by one son, John Robert Allison. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Allison of Rio Rancho; three children, J.R. Allison of Paradise Hills, Jim R. Allison of Artesia, NM, and Frank W. Allison of Alpine, AZ; nine grandchildren, Jeffery, Jeremy, Wesley, Kimberly, Clinton, Clay, Jonathan, Justin, and James: eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Woodrow Allison; two sisters, Doris Engle and Margaret Millican. The Visitation for Shirley will be today, Wednesday, August 21, 2002 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with the Service on Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho, with Pastor Terry Morris officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steve Hadley, David Bowie, Bobby Newberry, Jeffery Allison, Clint Allison, Clay Allison and Billy Phegley. Allred -- Ralph Marlin Allred, Jr. of Amarillo, TX passed away August 20, 2002 at age 88. Born in Wildorado, TX he was a graduate of Hereford High School. Ralph lived in New Mexico for several years and was employed by Noor Mfg. in Albuquerque as a machinist for 17 years . He married Peggy Mitchell in 1933, she died in 1977. In 1980, Ralph married Katherine Kelly of Amarillo, TX. He was a member of San Jacinto Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Gayle Bachicha of Denver; grandson, Chris Bachicha of Albuquerque; stepdaughter, Jan Hollingsworth of Albuquerque; Bill Kelly of Houston; and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Rena Hobbs of Amarillo; brothers, Jim Allred of Albuquerque and Don Allred of Viega. Private Family Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 23, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque. Memorials can be made to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Cannavale -- Michelina (Nicoletti) Cannavale born September 15, 1913 went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 8, 2002. She is survived by her son, Dr. Louis Cannavale and wife, Vickie and son, Jason of Albuquerque; sister, Rose Nicoletti of Brooklyn, NY. She was born in Manhattan, NY, grew up in Brooklyn, NY, moved to Rutherford, NJ with her husband, Frank and their two children, Louis and Francis in 1953. She moved to Albuquerque about 12 years ago following the death of her beloved husband, Frank and their son, Frances. She was one of eight brothers and sisters, six of which have gone home to be with our Lord. She was living with her son, Louis and his wife, when she quietly went home to her Lord. She will always be remembered for the love, life and faith she instilled in her family and because she loves God unconditionally. A Memorial Service will be conducted by David Snyman on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Monday, August 12, 2002 in Brooklyn, NY.

Chacon -- Viola Chacon, 84, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, August 13, 2002, while on an extended stay in Harlingen, TX. Viola was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Antonio Chacon. She is survived by three children, Tony Chacon and his wife, Lydia of Albuquerque, Ed Chacon and his wife, Pat of Valencia, CA and Josie Maselli and her husband, Bob of San Ramon, CA; seven grandchildren, Mike, Jim, Eddie, Druana, and Mark Chacon and Jason and Christie Maselli, all of California; and four great-grandchildren. Viola was born in Penasco, NM and lived there until she and Antonio were married. After marriage the couple moved to California where they spent most of their work life before returning to New Mexico. During her lifetime, Viola enjoyed travel and loved music and dancing. She was devoted to her family and friends and was known for her generosity and hospitality. A Mass celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 811 Guaymas Place, Albuquerque.

Chavez -- Christel A. Chavez, age 27, died on August 7, 2002, doing what she loved to do - flying for the U.S. Air Force. She is survived by her mother, Jennifer Townsend of Tijeras; her father and step-mother, Thomas and Celia Chavez of Santa Fe; her sister, Nicolasa Chavez of Santa Fe; her nephew and niece, Noe and Alexina of Santa Fe; her grandparents, Antonio and Marilyn Chavez of Las Cruces, and many other relatives and special friends who dearly loved her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ronald and Sylvia Townsend. Christel graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1993 where, for two years, she was a first-team, All-State, basketball player. She graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in social science. She recently was promoted to the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force. She particularly loved to fly airplanes, play basketball, and fly-fish. Christel had a strong passion for everything she did and she touched people's lives with her grace and humor. A Memorial Celebration of Christel's life will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2002, at the National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico, 1701 4th Street S.W. (4th and Bridge), with a reception to follow. An interment service with full military honors will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please honor Christel by making memorial contributions in her name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3150 Carlisle N.E., Suite 35, Albuquerque, NM 87110.

De Caterini -- De Ann F. De Caterini, 84, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2002. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Bertello; and her only sister, Pauline Eben of Fremont, CA. On retirement in 1979, Ann moved from Washington, D.C. to Rio Rancho, NM, and in 1991 to Albuquerque. She worked as secretary for the U.S. State Department Foreign Service for 28 years, serving mostly in overseas assignments. Ann was ever grateful for all of God's Mercies to her. Resurrection Mass will be celebrated, Thursday, August 22, 2002, 5:30 p.m. at St. Bernadette's Church, 1800 Martha, NE, followed by cremation at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual Blvd. NE. Pereira -- Alberto E. Pereira, 88, died on August 20, 2002 in Albuquerque. He had been a resident of Albuquerque since moving from Portugal in 1973. A proud day in his life was when he became a U.S. citizen in April 1996. Mr. Pereira was an avid fan of World Cup Soccer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Maria I. Pereira, on November 25, 2000. He is survived by a daughter, Luisa M. Benavidez and husband, Ray of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Albert Benavidez and wife, Renee of Albuquerque and Lori A. Benavidez of Los Lunas; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ian; beloved nieces and nephews; and special friends, Vicky and Henry Baca. Mr. Segura was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalia Garcia; his father, Pedro Segura; and two brothers; David Segura and Joe Garcia. Mr. Segura is survived by his wife, Lorrie (Lorraine) Segura; two sons, Lawrence Segura and wife, Jodi and Carl Segura and wife, Elena all from Albuququerque; one sister, Sara Cody and husband, Roger from Cedar Crest; seven brothers, Marvin Garcia and wife, Cindy, Narcisco Garcia Jr. and wife, Kathy, Larry Garcia and wife, Carmen, Jerry Garcia and wife, Teresa, Estevan Garcia and wife Dora, Albino Garcia and wife Marie and Robert Garcia all of CedarCrest, NM; four grandchildren, Michelle, Ramon, Anthony and Sara all of Albuquerque; five great-grandchildren, Patricio, Erlinda, Elena, Roman and Marisol all of Albuquerque and several nieces and nephews. Snow -- Burton Stanley Snow passed away peacefully on August 18, 2002 at the age of 88. He was born on April 22, 1914 in British Columbia. Survivors include son, Gary Snow and wife, Judi of Rio Rancho; son, Ronald Snow of Sandia Park; daughter, Judi Stewart and husband, Dick of Sandia Park; daughters, Dorothy and Jan Snow of Cedar Crest; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burt served his country honorably in WWII as a captain in the US Army. He worked for 25 years at Sandia National Laboratories as an engineer and retired in 1972. Burt was a wonderful father and great friend. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
