Banks -- Lucile Emery Banks, widow of the late Thomas G. Banks Jr. of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in Durango, Colorado after a long illness. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, May 11, 1912. A former resident of Las Cruces and Albuquerque, Mrs. Banks is survived by her three children, Mary Banks Coulter of Allison, CO, Elizabeth Banks Lisle of Gambrills, MD and Thomas Gray Banks III of Las Cruces; her sister, Ida Maude Emery Brett of Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a 63-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a women's philanthropic and educational organization. Her current affiliation was Chapter BF in Las Cruces. Mrs. Banks enjoyed art and painting landscapes of New Mexican scenery, at one time managed a radio station, and earned her private pilot's license before she learned to ride a bicycle. A funeral service will be held Wedneday, June 30, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Las Cruces, NM, with Rev. Loyd Cain officiating. Bickel -- Sister Juniper Bickel, 62, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rochester, Minn., who served as an educator and health care provider, died on June 25, 1999 at Assisi Heights, Rochester. Born Mary Priscilla Bickel on December 19, 1936 in Portsmouth, Ohio, Sister Juniper entered the Franciscan Congregation in 1954 from St. Mary Parish, Portsmouth. She made profession of vows in 1957 and began her teaching career at St. Priscilla Parish, Chicago. She taught in various schools in Minnesota, Ohio and Colorado. Sister Juniper is survived by her Franciscan Community; and by brother, David Bickel and wife, Kathleen of Albuquerque; nephew, Michael Bickel, wife, Carla, and Godson, Charles Michael; nephew, Stephen Bickel and wife, Boo, and niece, Karen Almos and husband, Michael. She completed the nursing program at the College of Saint Teresa, Winona, Minn. In 1984. She ministered in the nursing profession in Albuquerque with Presbyterian Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sunday, June 27, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, Assisi Heights, with the Reverend Jack Krough officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Assisi Heights at the wake service at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 27. Borough -- Jane S. Borough, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Friday, June 25, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Rex Borough of Albuquerque; son, Hayes Keeler and wife, Georgene of San Francisco, CA; daughters, Marcy Keeler of Milpitas, CA, Sherry Perry of Corrales and Linda Borough of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Bowra. Mrs. Borough was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority at the University of Colorado. Cooley -- Dan W. Cooley II, 24, a resident of Chicago, IL since 1996, and a former resident of Albuquerque, died in Chicago as a result of an auto accident. He is survived by his mother, Shelley Cooley; father, Daniel W. Cooley and wife, Paula; grandmother, Betty Self, all of Albuquerque; aunts and uncles, Peter Cooley of Albuquerque, Cherryl Lingo and husband, Dean of Flora Vista, NM, Randy Self of Carlsbad, and Rick Self and wife, Brieta of Sherman, TX; and numerous cousins. Dan was born in Albuquerque in 1975. He attended Del Norte High School and the University of New Mexico. He then moved to Chicago, IL in 1996. He was a loving son, grandson, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cox -- Hazel L. Cox, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, died Thursday, June 24, 1999."Why do we wait 'til someone dies to say or write fine words of praise? 'Tis the living who should daily hear accolades or an inspiring phrase." She is survived by her daughters, Mary Jo Juul and husband, Bob of Bosque Farms, Alice J. Brannen of Albuquerque, Loretta Jean Edgar of Bonham, TX; sons, Cecil L. Cox and wife, Sherry of Edgewood and Miller Dean Cox and wife, Irene of Albuquerque; and a legacy of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Miller L. Cox in 1995; and her daughter, H. Nadine MacDonald in 1998. Mrs. Cox was a member of Central Assembly of God Church. She was a great mother and grandmother who spent her life taking care of her family. Mr. De La O was a member of the Catholic church. Gerken -- Rosanne Holler Gerken, age 86, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died June 22, 1999. She is survived by her brothers, Edward and Richard Holler; a niece, Jeanette Ross of Los Lunas; and other family members. A graduate of Fordham University, Mrs. Gerken taught school and served in the U.S. Navy (WAVES) during World War II and received an Honorable Discharge on December 13, 1945. She traveled extensively with her husband, Lt. Col. Fred Gerken, during his long military career in the U.S. Army. Lt. Col. Gerken preceded her in death in 1984. An active Catholic, Mrs. Gerken supported the work of several religious communities serving the poor and homeless. Friends are invited to attend the 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha NE, on Thursday, July 1st, with a coffee reception to immediately follow. Gorman -- A Memorial Mass for Vincent and Margaret Gorman will be held Thursday, July 1, 2:00 p.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. Vincent was a resident of Albuquerque since 1938 and died February 19, 1996 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was a pharmacist. Margaret died August 26, 1998 in Norman. She was a registered nurse at Presbyterian Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital. They were members of Annunciation Church, New Heart, and Annunciation Golden Agers.

Mr. Holmes served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict. He had a 25 year career at Sandia National Labs. Mrs. Holmes was a loving and devoted mother. She enjoyed handicrafts and sewing. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes never met anyone they didn't like. Jojola -- Santa Cruz Jojola, 85, passed away Friday, June 25, 1999 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. He was born April 14, 1914 to Daniel and Raquel (Atencio) Jojola in San Marcial, NM. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna T. (Ramirez) Jojola in 1983. He is survived by his sons, Daniel and wife, Eva of Albuquerque, NM and Henry and wife, Julia of Albuquerque; daughters, Mary Ann Ornelas and husband, Cruz of Albuquerque, and Stella Gutierrez and husband, Jose Heridia of Albuquerque; sisters, Ramona Padilla of Alamogordo, NM, Grace Vallejos and husband, Manuel of Sierra Vista, AZ and Rosela Lukesh of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited Monday, June 28, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Kolodner -- Ethel Z. Kolodner died June 16, 1999. She was born September 24, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Albuquerque for many years, where she was an artist and an architect. She and her colleagues started the first all woman architect firm in New Mexico and designed a number of fire stations that were built around Albuquerque. She is survived by her brother, Allan Zelnick; her two sons, Richard and Paul Kolodner; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her family is grateful to her many friends, whose company made her very happy. A memorial service is being planned for the near future. Cremation arrangements were made by the Sunrise Society of NM, 891-8200.

Meyer -- Charlotte Herman Meyer. Mrs. Ben F. Meyer passed away Friday morning, June 25th. She was preceded by her husband, Ben F. Meyer; daughter, Charlene Smith Shrum; brother, Carl Herman and sister, Anna McCollough. She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Meyer of New Orleans, Jane Zerby of Messilla and sister, Sister Carlanne; a sister of Lorreto residing at the mother house in Nerinx Kentucky; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Born July 27th, 1906 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, she is a member of one of northern New Mexico's oldest families, Charlotte was the daughter of Marie Antoinette and Charles Herman and granddaughter of Charles Blanchard and Marguerite Des Marais Blanchard. She was also the great-granddaughter of Michael Des Marais who came from the Province of Quebec to New Mexico in the 1820's and became one of the founders of the city of Las Vegas in 1835, and Dona Deluvina Vigil y Montes de Des Marais, whose home still stands on the plaza of West Las Vegas where as a matriarch of a large family of descendants, Dona Deluvina was almost a legendary figure in the annals of San Miguel County. On October 7, 1925 Charlotte married Mr. Ben F. Meyer of Estancia Valley, also from a pioneer family of New Mexico. Charlotte and Ben lived in Las Vegas, Taos and Santa Fe before settling in Albuquerque where they raised there three children. Charlotte a devout communicant of the Roman Catholic faith, lived with complaint or judgment, only acceptance. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Moore -- John Z. Our beloved father and grandfather, John Z. Moore Sr., 86, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 23rd, amid the love and thoughts of his family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vivian, two years ago, and by his loving son, James H. Moore, who died in 1996. John is survived by his sons, John Z. Moore, Jr. of Albuquerque and most recently of Stringtown, OK and Duane D. Moore, a member of the Information Technology Department for Bernalillo County, and by four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. John was a loving member of the community and touched the lives of everyone whose path he crossed. He was a resident of Albuquerque since 1952 and, prior to his retirement was an integral member of the Fedway Department Stores Receiving Department and later owned and operated a chain of award winning "Gasamat" stations throughout the city. Dad, every time we see a bucket of popcorn or a pair of stereo headsets, we will think of you. Friends are invited to a celebration of his life Saturday, June 26, 1999 at 10 AM at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano Road, NW, between 2nd and 4th Streets. Watson -- Trarell Watson, four months, died Friday, June 25, 1999. He is survived by his parents, Leroy and Darvania Watson of the family home; sisters, Ashley, Victoria, Leandra, Japiera, and Ashanti; brothers, Yorel and Marcus all of the family home; maternal grandmother, Jean Steed of Albuquerque; maternal grandfather, Jerry Jeffery of Albuquerque; paternal grandmother, Marsha L. Watson of Memphis, TN; maternal great-grandfather, Omar Jeffery of Dallas, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Graveside services will be held Monday, at 3:30 p.m., at Fairview Memorial Park, with Pastor Eddie Mirabel officiating. Zudick -- Thomas Ezio Zudick, born Bronx, New York, December 12, 1925, died Albuquerque, June 18, 1999. Served in the United States Navy Pacific Campaign, WWII; graduated UNM and worked at Sandia National Laboratory for 37 years. Tom was a supervisor in the photography division at Sandia Labs and was much beloved by his co-workers. His love of the arts, music, and human creativity led him on a path in life with many dear friends and great spirits. Tom studied photography with Ansel Adams, photographed Laura Gilpin, Edward Weston and other famous New Mexico artists. He was one of the few artists to photograph Georgia O'Keefe in her home. His portrait of John D. Robb appears in"Photography in New Mexico" by Van Deren Coke, and he contributed photo work for"The Art of Raymond Jonson Painter." Thomas was active in a variety of civic and charitable organizations: Founding Member Board of Directors, Rehabilitation Center, Crippled Childrens Association, Volunteer, Suicide Prevention Center Hot Line, and Eucharistic Minister, St. Joseph's Hospital Volunteers. Tom was once called,"Old Faithful", by a friend. A truer statement cannot be made by those to whom he had given himself. He is survived by his son, Carter G. Zudick; daughters, Claudia Z. Williamson, Regina Z. Earnest, Cynthia W. Zudick; grandsons, Jesse C. Williamson and Wesley T. Williamson; and sisters, Joseph and Alma Lemli of New Jersey; the Venturi Family of Long Island, NY, Peter and Blanche Wakker, and sons of North Carolina. On Monday, June 28, 1999, a public service will be held for friends at St. Charles Borromeo Church at 1818 Coal Pl. SE, Albuquerque. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery with honor guard ceremony and bagpipe at the Gazebo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Presbyterian Hospice Center or charity of choice. Cremation arrangements made by the Sunrise Society of NM, 891-8200. .DMP
