Banks -- Lucile Emery Banks, widow of the late Thomas G. Banks Jr. of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in Durango, Colorado after a long illness. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, May 11, 1912. A former resident of Las Cruces and Albuquerque, Mrs. Banks is survived by her three children, Mary Banks Coulter of Allison, CO, Elizabeth Banks Lisle of Gambrills, MD and Thomas Gray Banks III of Las Cruces; her sister, Ida Maude Emery Brett of Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a 63-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a women's philanthropic and educational organization. Her current affiliation was Chapter BF in Las Cruces. Mrs. Banks enjoyed art and painting landscapes of New Mexican scenery, at one time managed a radio station, and earned her private pilot's license before she learned to ride a bicycle. A funeral service will be held Wedneday, June 30, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Las Cruces, NM, with Rev. Loyd Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the P.O.E. Foundation, in care of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50312-2899.
