Alderete -- Moises E. Alderete, 19, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 25, 1999. Moises was the beloved son to Patricia Silva. He is also survived by five sisters, Maria Alderete and husband, Daniel, Elizabeth Alderete, Sabrina Alderete and husband, Adan, Sandra Alderete and Vicky Alderete and husband, Arturo; three brothers, Ramon Alderete and wife, Maria, Richard Silva, and Pete Alderete; paternal grandfather, Pete Alderete and wife, Rosa. Moises was preceded in death by his father, Orlando Alderete, 1998. A prayer service will be held on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. Bailey -- Mr. Don Bailey, age 71, of Albuquerque, died Thursday, May 13, 1999. Mr. Bailey was born May 30, 1927 at Vernon, Texas, the son of Martin Luther and Johnny Barnett Bailey. Mr. Bailey worked as a night watchman at a salvage yard. Mr. Bailey is survived by one sister, Billie Piper of Leonard, TX; two aunts, Juanita Williams of Weatherford, TX and Dorothy Gregory of Ft. Worth, TX; one uncle, Alvin Bailey of Vernon, TX. Mr. Bailey will be buried in the Leonard Cemetery in Leonard, Texas, Tuesday, June 1, 1999, following cremation.

Blakeney -- Kirby Blakeney, age 88, May 26, 1910-May 25, 1999. Mr. Blakeney was born in Dallas, TX. A resident of Albuquerque since 1942, was called home to be with the Lord on May 25, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Jane; sons, Brian W. Blakeney and wife, Janice, Eugene N. Blakeney and wife, Patsy, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Pam Croft and son, Jeffrey Martinez, Tonnie and Greg Doose and son, Andy, Derek Blakeney and wife, Jenny and son, Avis Trent; daughters, Kulani, Heaven, Emily, Ashley and Sabrey, Talie Blakeney and son, Joseph Ray and daughter, Selina and Nalin Blakeney, all of Albuquerque. He was a Civil Service Annuitant who retired from US Civil Service in 1976. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 28, 1999 in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary at 11:00 a.m. with Ken Moore officiating. Gutierrez -- Anna Gutierrez, 62, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 26, 1999. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Rosendo; and her daughter, Lori; as well as her parents, Isidro and Anita; brothers, John, Elmo and Abie; and sister, Mary and her husband, Triny. Anna is survived by three sons, Nash, Steve and wife, Olivia and Sam and wife, Janet; three daughters, Ramona Gutierrez and husband, Joe, Rosenda Ortiz and husband, Bernie and Evelyn Gutierrez; seven grandchildren, Eric, Lori, Leon, Joaquin, Rosendo, Adrian and Jovan; one great-grandchild, Jonathan. Anna is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Sid and wife, Jewel, Angie and husband, Randy, Rose and husband, Paul, Abie's wife, Irene, Elmo's wife, Amy, Tillie, and Willie and wife, Linda. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday morning, 10:00 a.m., at San Juan De Nepomoseno in Chilili with burial to follow at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in Manzano, NM. Herreid -- Scott Freeman Herreid, 49, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died as a result of a motor vehicle accident on May 20, 1999, in Albuquerque. Scott was born in Peoria, IL on November 6, 1949. He attended the University of New Mexico from 1967 through 1971, graduating with a BA in Economics. Upon graduation, Scott worked in a professional capacity for various Economic Research and Development firms in the Albuquerque area. Just prior to his death, he was employed at the Albuquerque Convention Center as the Food Service Manager. Scott is survived by his mother, Blanche Herreid of Peoria, IL; his brother, Brent Herreid of Albuquerque; and his sister, Teresa Herreid of Battle Lake, MN. His father, Wayne, preceded him in death. Scott was a gentle soul who loved the earth, but left it too soon. He was much loved and will be forever missed. Kelley -- Gordon F. Kelley, 77, formerly of Belen, now residing in Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 1999. Gordon was a well-known New Mexican businessman, operating several businesses, including El Rancho Auto Sales, as well as Mac's Auto Sales. He and his wife, Barbara, also managed the Circle K in Belen from 1979 to 1983. Gordon is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara of Albuquerque; two loving sons, Mike Kelley and his wife, Virginia of Los Lunas and Dennis Kelley and his wife, Kerry of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Kraft -- Charlotte P. Kraft passed from this life May 26, 1999. She joins her beloved husband of 49 years, William C. (Bill) Kraft. Charlotte is survived by her three children, Dennis, Jim and Carol; grandson, Josh; brother, noted author J.F. Powers; sister, Laura Powers; and several nieces and nephews.Charlotte died peacefully at home in the arms of her family after a short illness.Charlotte and Bill Kraft have been residents of Albuquerque since 1946. A terrific mother and great wife, she was a true friend and generous church supporter. Charlotte was a passionate and accomplished gardener; her magnificent NE Heights yard is truly a tribute to her creativity and perseverance (as well as being the neighborhood birds' favorite hang-out.)Although with God now, Charlotte will be sorely missed by many.Rosary will be said Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mcdonnell -- Rev. Dessie M. McDonnell, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999. She is survived by her niece, Catherine Neve of Woodland Hills, CA; sister-in-law, Margaret M. Davis and Ada Long and husband, William, all of El Paso, TX; and step-sons, C.P.O. Henry Don McDonnell and family of Virginia Beach, VA and Robert Clayton McDonnell and family of Truckee, CA. Mrs. McDonnell was preceded in death by her sister, Stella Petersen. She was a member of Christ Unity Church, where she was Minister Emeritus. Mrs. McDonnell was a life member of American Legion Post #99, the Military Widows, Women's Army Corps Chapter #60, and the Retired officer's Association. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Yucca Temple #74 and Social Order of the Beauceant, Albuquerque Assembly #76. Nordstrum -- Robert H. Nordstrum, age 86, born July 13, 1912 in Humboldt, Iowa, departed this life May 25, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hazel Nordstrum; one son, Jerry Nordstrum and wife, Norma; daughter, Patricia Wood of Lubbock, TX, Mildred and husband, Allan Kostedt of Los Lunas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley Nordstrum and wife, Sis of Albuquerque; sister, Grace Lovett of Princeton, MO. He retired from Creamland Dairies after 38 years and belonged to the Exchange Club of Albuquerque and the New Mexico Motor Carriers. His hobbies included fishing, bowling, and any kind of sports. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, from the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Speer -- Hugh Brownlow Speer Jr. died May 26, 1999 at St. Francis Place, where he had been a resident since November 1997. He was born October 24, 1910 to Hugh Speer and Augusta Moore in Bovina Center, NY. His early years were spent with his family in Presbyterian pastorates in Omaha, Pittsburgh and Erie, PA. Hugh was a fine athlete, excelling in baseball and football. He attended Monmouth College, and upon graduation, was employed by Marshall Field in Chicago. In 1935, he married Bernadine Jones and they had two daughters, Barbara and Vicki. At the outbreak of World War II, he joined the Navy and was assigned for training aboard the U.S.S. Lake Champlain, an aircraft carrier, and became a Lt. Commander. Following the war, he returned to a new job with the Simmons Co., first in Milwaukee. He soon became supervisor of sales for Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. At his retirement in 1970, he was living in Dallas as supervisor of the southwest area. In 1972, he and his wife, Bernie, moved to Albuquerque. Hugh loved to travel, and his wife loved to travel with him until her death in 1985. Later, he met and married Reta Elliott and they spent happy years together traveling to Canada and overseas. He is survived by family members, including his wife, Reta; Barbara and Dick Sauerman, Vicki and Jerry Smith; grandchildren, Jeff Smith, Kim Smith, Becky Sauerman-Miller, Rick Sauerman and Mark Sauerman; great-grandchildren are Mackenzie and Jake Miller; step-children, Margaret McCormick, Eric Tietze, Pamela Tietze and Mary Jane Witt; and a brother, Wallace Speer of California. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church with interment at a later date. Sturm -- Emma M. Sturm, 96, an Albuquerque resident since 1990, died Thursday, May 27, 1999. Mrs. Sturm is survived by her daughters, Beatrice Rawson of Albuquerque, Dorothy Schievle and husband, Henry of Nekoosa, WI; granddaughters, Linda Campbell of Albuquerque, Karen Ellenson of Augusta, GA; grandsons, Michael Schievle of Hubertus, WI, David Schievle of Heartland, WI, Terrance Schievle of Portage, MI, Joel Schievle of Milwaukee, WI and Christopher Schievle of Watertown, WI; and nine great-grandchildren. Treibel -- Walter E. Treibel, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since the early 1940s, died on Monday, May 24, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet in 1985; and his daughter, Susy Sanders in 1998. He is survived by his son, Wayne Treibel and his wife, Karen, their children, Adam and Ashley; son, Steven Treibel and his wife, Elizabeth, and their son, Daniel; sister, Marion Norkin of New Jersey; grandson, Michael Fisk; son-in-law, James Sanders; and brother-in-law, Robert J. Pringle and his wife, Dorothy of Alabama. Mr. Treibel graduated from the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in New York in 1943 as a Mechanical Engineer. He then worked in an airplane manufacturing facility back east. Some of his associates and classmates requested his assistance on the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, NM, though he did not want to move west. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and sent to Los Alamos, NM as a Technical Master Sergeant. He was the inventor of the trigger mechanism for the first nuclear weapon. He was in the North Bunker at the Trinity Site (First Atomic Bomb Test), in New Mexico. He was one of the original members of the Z-Division of Sandia National Labs. He designed and developed many weapons systems over the span of 38 years at Sandia National Labs. He retired from Sandia in the early 1980s. His career was filled with many accommodations, recommendations, and personal references, including some notable ones from Robert J. Oppenheimer, Alvin Graves, George Landry, and many others. Walt was an avid walker at Winrock Mall. He had many friends in the Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and Livermore Communities. His life was a treasure for all to remember. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Sunday, May 30, 1999, 1:30 p.m., at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle SE, with Rev. John Wild officiating. Vallejos -- Mary Inez Vallejos, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 26, 1999. Ms. Vallejos is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy Baird and husband, Jim and Mary Ann Flores and husband, Fernando; two sisters, Enriqueta Gonzales and Rosa Gallegos; two brothers, Steve Saavedra and wife, Vina and Christobal Saavedra Sr. and wife, Julia; seven grandchildren, Rochelle, Mark, Veronica, Monica, Fernando, Frank and Kenneth; 19 great-grandchildren, Marciano, Armando, Ryan, Noah, Mathew, Anndrea, David, Daniel, Chris, Joshua, Jacob, Damian, Frankie, Derick, Sarah, Luke, Jacqulyn, Justin and Joshua. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Miguela Saavedra; brothers, Marcelino and Victor; and one son, Sonny. She was a member of the Catholic Church, Holy Family Senior Center, participated in the Senior Olympics, Sacred Heart League, Blue Army, and sang in the choir. She was the strength of the entire family. When the family needed a special prayer answered we went to her. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening, 7:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m., at Holy Family Church, with final viewing at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father Jack, Celebrant. Villanueva -- Rose Carmen Villanueva, 56, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 25, 1999. Rose is survived by six children; one son, Humberto Jr.; five daughters, Debbie, Sandra, Nora, Julie, Brenda and Nichole; 16 grandchildren; five brothers; eight sisters; and her mother, Nora Gutierrez. She was preceded by her father, Transito Gutierrez.
