PATTERSON -- Velma June Patterson died on February 3, 2004 at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born Velma June Anderson on April 7, 1939 in Gunnison, Colorado, she graduated from Salida High School in Salida, Colorado in 1957. Son Douglas Martellaro preceded her in death. Velma is survived by five children; Alan Martellaro of Carbondale, Colorado, Brent Martellaro of Fairbanks, Alaska, Cynthia Cooney of Missoula Montana, Evan Martellaro of Salida, Colorado, and Phillip Martellaro of Bozeman, Montana. She also has four grandchildren; Tara and Jason Martellaro of Carbondale, and Jesse and Jose of Fairbanks. For the past 15 years Velma worked for the US Department of Agriculture Rural Development, formerly FMHA, in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. She was loved by us all and will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at Lewis and Glen Funeral Home in Salida Colorado on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. There will also be a memorial service in Albuquerque on Tuesday February 10, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at the Faith Chapel Church, 1726 Girard Blvd. NE.

PEREA -- Mr. Joe H. Perea, 64, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 7, 2004. Mr. Perea is survived by his wife, Erlinda; his children, Mary "Beatrice" Bozell and husband, Ken, Mary "Liz" Anaya and husband, Joe, "Larry" Joseph Perea, and Michelle Pino and son, Michael P. Pino; one sister, Linda Gutierrez and husband, Lowrey; two brothers, Robert Perea and wife, Susanna, and Pancho Perea; five grandchildren, Nathaniel Pino and wife, Sara, Kendell and Kellie Bozell, Flora Marie Perea, Ashley Perea and Daisey Baca; a special aunt, Juanita Anzures; many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Perea was a member of the Catholic Church. He loved music, and loved to play the guitar as a member of Del and The Tempos. A visitation for Mr. Perea will be Monday evening from 6:30pm until 7:00pm at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm by Ernestine Ortiz. A final visitiation will be Monday morning from 8:30am until 9:00am at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00am. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Tommy Torres, Diego Duran, Nathaniel Pino, James Gutierrez, Christopher Perea, Oscar Garcia, Joe Jaramillo, and Richard Galaz. STEPHENS -- Isabel Stephens, 69, passed away February 5, 2004. Isabel was loved by the children of Griegos Elementary and La Luz Elementary, and had retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools in 1993. Isabel was a life long member and officer of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 100, and was always there to lend a helping hand and care for others. She was the loving Mother of daughter, Kathy Silva and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Amanda Gonzales, Monique Silva, and Ruben Silva; great grandchildren, Desiree Gonzales, Joseph I. Gonzales, and Steven Daniel Martinez Jr.; special friends, Randy and Carole Ward, Sarah Grimm, and Pricilla Grimm. The angels have taken our beloved mother, grandmother, Great Grandmother, and dearest friend to join God In Heaven. God Bless You and Keep You Isabel. TIEFA -- Burnell K. Tiefa, resident of Albuquerque since 1962, passed away February 3, 2004 at his home. Burnell was born in Arvada, CO, July 26, 1932. He was an athlete, a Coastguardsman, graduate of Colorado Univ, and computer programmer. He loved Beethoven, art, and feeding the birds. Burnell was the loving son of Edith and Reinhold. He is survived by his children, Marc, Kurt, and Cathleen Tiefa; grandchildren, Aaron, Daniel, Diane, and Alexis Tiefa; and his loving companion, Sandra Bilberry. Now he is with his beloved dog, Buddy. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Animal Humane Society.

BECKSTROM -- Kenneth W. Beckstrom 85, long-time Albuquerque resident, passed away February 5, 2004 in Littleton, CO. Born in Raynesford, Montana in 1918. Received Engineering-Physics degree from Montana State University in 1939, served in US Army Air Corps/USAF from 1940 to 1962, retiring with rank of Lt. Colonel. Retired from NM State Highway Department after 18 years of service. He married Marie M. Noll in 1951, who predeceased him in 1990. hey raised four children, son Eric (wife Jamie) of Albuquerque, daughter Martha McKinley (husband Bill) of Parker, CO, daughter Mauria Vokaty (husband Craig) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and son Charles (wife Lisa)of Parker CO. He served his country in WWII in the South Pacific with the 43rd Bomb Group and in Europe with the 398th Bomb Group completing a total of 63 combat missions. He was awarded the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart, and Distinguished Unit Citation with One Oak Leaf Cluster. He served as Squadron Commander in the Korean War. He is survived by his four children, four grandsons, Brad Beckstrom, Connor and Casey McKinley and Ryan Beckstrom. He married Dorothy Francis in 1993. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to a Hospice Program of choice. Memorial services pending. CORKRAN -- Mrs. Alberta J. Corkran passed away Saturday, February 7, 2004, in Albuquerque. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Ray R. Corkran in March of 2001. Alberta was born Alberta Jean Headley in Smith Center, Kansas on January 9, 1915. She and Ray met while attending UNM and were longtime residents of Albuquerque. Alberta worked at Sandia National Lab for many years and upon their retirement, she and Ray enjoyed extensive travel throughout the world. Alberta is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Rajeane and J.T. Jack and Nan and Jay Hamner, both of Albuquerque; two grand-daughters and their husbands, Kristy and Rick Waldraff and Kara Lea and Steve Nixon, both of Abilene, Texas; one grandson and his wife, Jim and Kimberly Jack, of Arlington, Texas; seven great grandchildren; and an extended family of friends. Alberta's family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Harold (Trish) Davis for her professional expertise, loving care, and friendship. A family service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park. COTINOLA -- David Louis Cotinola, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, January 29,2004. He was preceded in death by his wife, Toni. Mr. Cotinola is survived by his children, Lorraine Cotinola, David Cotinola Jr., Frank Cotinola, Marty Cotinola, Corrine Harvey, Daveene Lawhon, Janet Booth, Janice Wines & Patti Bump; 18 grandchildren; six great-granchildren; A sister, Marcella Ortega; a brother, Henry Cotinola; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place and a private Memorial service and celebration of this precious man's life was conducted by Ron Gallegos; Rosary was conducted by his friends, Nancy and Richard Tapia; songs of praise were sung by Johnny and Karla Zabalza; and granddaughter, Rachel Harvey at the home of his daughter. He will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved him.

GALUSHA -- Mabel Margaret Galusha, age 90, and a long time resident of Albuquerque from 1926 to 1989, died Thursday, February 5, 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is survived by her daughter, Agnes Berdahl of Phoenix, AZ; son, Ray Galusha and wife Barbara of Seattle, WA; two sister in-laws, Marie and Lola Adams; four grandchildren, Robert Berdahl, Corey Gulusha, Sue Graves and husband Patrick, and Karen Galusha; one great-granddaughter, Allie Graves; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mabel served many years doing work for the Baptist Convention. She served as a dietician for The Baptist Camp for many years. Mabel worked with the youth at Highland and Hoffmantown Baptist Church for many years as well. She also served as President of Osteopathic Hospital Guild. Services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Broadus D. Hale Officiating. Graveside services will be at Sunset Memorial Park. GARCIA -- Tommie Garcia, 73, a life long resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, February 5, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joe Garcia of Albuquerque; daughter, Cecelia Patricia Klieaslima and husband, Ray of Corpus Christi, TX; son, Jimmy Lee Garcia and wife, Lorraine Rita of Albuquerque; 5 grandchildren, Anthony and Ramona Jaramillo, Desiray and Nicole Trujillo and Cynthia Baca; 3 great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Rsaiah Trujillo and Jasmine Baca; sister, Rose Lewis; and brother-in-law, John Jojola. Tommie was a member of San Ignacio Catholic Church. She worked for Albuquerque Public Schools for 20 years before retiring. Tommie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed. A rosary will be recited Monday, 6:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. GIBBENS -- Carolyn S. Gibbens, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1987 passed away on February 7, 2004. Carolyn was born in Newport News, VA on November 13, 1932 to Eva and Clarence Roberts. She is survived by her children, Jerri Dianne Johnson and her husband, Harry of Rio Rancho, Jeannette Darlene Berndt of Adelanto, CA, Jerry Donald Gibbens and wife, Marie of Albuquerque; Jennifer Denise Edwards of Albuquerque; brother, Clarence Roberts, Jr. of Hickory, NC; sisters, Gwyn Harrel of Dinwiddie, VA and Eldine Baker of Kill Devil Hills, NC; grandsons, Dennis Rasmussen, Jacob Gibbens, Christopher Rasmussen, Brandi Edwards, Clerrissa Edwards, Jessicca Gibbens, Alyssa Johnson, and Taryn Johnson; 2 great-grandchildren, Jennifer-Deen Gibbens and Daniel Rasmussen. Her main goal was to be Worthy Matrons of the Order of Eastern Star and twice Past Royal Matron in the Order of Amaranth and she belonged to the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She liked to do crafts and ride her bike with her grandson, Jacob. She worked at Albertson's in Rio Rancho.
