EICHWALD -- Max Eichwald, age 91 a resident of Pe¤asco and lifelong resident of Cuba, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2004 following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aron (Augustine) and Isabel Eichwald; wife, Quirina Eichwald; daughters, Mariquita and Mary Louise Eichwald; sisters, Emma, Carmelita, Lucilla and Genoveva; brothers, Augustine and Bart. Mr. Eichwald was a member of the Senior Citizen group in Cuba and Chamisal. He was a champion pool player for the Senior Olympics, a Deputy Sheriff and was a Volunteer Fireman in Cuba. He served as an elder in the Cuba Presbyterian Church. He loved fishing and hunting. He loved to travel, he loved his wife dearly and they were great dancers. He attended Menaul School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his daughter, Joanna Valerio and husband, Eloy of Ranchos de Taos, Esther Martinez and husband, Roberto "Tony" of Cuba and Laura Eichwald of San Diego, California; sons, Aaron Eichwald and wife, Roselyn of Peasco and Eric Eichwald and wife, Sherri of Los Lunas; sister, Ida Valdez of Cuba; brother, Alex Eichwald and wife, Serafina of Corrales; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren along with numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. at the Pe¤asco Presbyterian Church with a devotional service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cuba Presbyterian Church in Cuba, NM with interment to follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Cuba, NM. FOWLER -- Tyson George Allen Fowler our Little Angel of, 5 weeks, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 14, 2004. He is survived by his mother, Seina Fowler; father, Troy Dugger; maternal grandparents, Donald and Patricia Fowler; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Vanessa Whatley all of Rio Rancho, M; maternal great-grandfather, James H. Wheelock, Sr. and wife, Carolyn of Albuquerque; maternal great-grandparents, James Fowler and wife, Jean of Spokane, Washington; aunts, Marisa Fowler of Rio Rancho, NM, Genevieve Whatley of Las Vegas, NV and Jessica Whatley also of Rio Rancho, NM; numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Betty Wheelock and a cousin, Sam Wheelock. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Incarnation Church, 2309 Monterrey Rd. NE. GRISWOLD -- Gilbert Ripley Griswold, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, died on Saturday, May 15, 2004 in La Vida Llena Health Care, in Albuquerque. Mr. Griswold is survived by daughters, Miriam Schroeder of San Diego, CA, Martha Griswold of Berkley, CA, and Annette Griswold of Greenbush, WI; four grandchildren; one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Laura Fast Griswold. Mr. Griswold was born in Greenport, NY on October 3, 1911, the middle son of Clyde and Grace Griswold. He moved to Raton, NM at the age of ten and had been a New Mexico Resident ever since. G.R. Griswold received two Bachelors of Science degrees from NM Tech in the fields of mining engineering and metallurgy. During the years of 1933-39, Mr. Griswold was a topographic engineer with the US Geological Survey, mapping rivers, dam sites, and reservoirs in NM, UT, ID and Montana, as an assayer. He went on to the university of Utah and earned a Master of Science. During World War II he served in the Army and was discharged a full colonel in the Army Reserve. Mr. Griswold was president of Chapman, Wood and Griswold, consulting mining engineers and geologists, with offices in Albuquerque, Africa, Australia, and Canada. He was a member of many mining organizations and a Rotarian. Services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2004 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd N.E. HELMER -- Richard S. Helmer, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 due to complications of diabetes. He was 91 years of age. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude of Albuquerque; daughter, Peggy Forste of Golden City, MO, Delayne Lange of St. Louis, MO, and son Richard Helmer Jr. of St. Martin Island; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. No services are planned. Cremation at Fitzgeral Mortuary.

QUILLEN -- Ida Marie Quillen, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed on to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 14, 2004, in San Antonio, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. Ida was born on December 8, 1926, on a farm near Hoxie, Kansas. Ida was the 13th of 14 children from the marriage of Alphonse and Ida Comeau. She graduated from the Girls Catholic High School in Hays, Kansas in 1945. Ida is survived by her husband, James R. Quillen. They were married on November 25, 1947 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Survivors also include daughters, Janis Brennan, Jayme Bundrant, and Jacqueline and husband, Ed Neidel; son, James II; 13 grandchildren, Timothy, Erin and husband, Chris Stewart, Kevin and Kerry Brennan, Lindsey and Abby Bundrant, Jennifer, Jeffrey and wife Kimberly, Joel and John Neidel, Tarin, Matthew and Amanda Quillen; sister, Rosemary Karlin and husband, Art; brother, George Comeau and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ida and Jim Quillen lived in Albuquerque for 38 years and consider it their home. When I am gone, release me, let me go... I have so many things to see and do. You musn't tie yourself to me with tears, Be thankful for our beautiful years. I won't be far away, for life goes on, So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, You'll hear all my love around you Soft and clear. ROBENS-NING -- Christine Robens-Ning, 54, of Albuquerque passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, after a nine month battle with cancer. She was born on Tuesday, May 16, 1950. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jimmy Ning; daughters, Jennifer Vallejos and husband, Alex Jr. and Kari Howell and husband, Zack; stepchildren, Natasha and Jason Ning; mother, Evelyn Carlson; siblings, Bill Robens and wife, Kathryn, Bob Robens, Kathy Robens and husband, David Goldman, and Susan Brannon; in-laws, Mary Chang, Vickie Tusiri, Judy Parnell, David Ning and partner, Elaine Lehmann, Mike Ning and partner, Sherry Jones and Jack and wife, Judie Ning; grandsons, Mateo and Adelicio Vallejos; her close family included, Francis and Susie Chang, Peter and Isabel Chang, many other nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her good friends, Frank and Kathleen Marchi. She was preceded in death by her father, William Robens and stepfather, Jim Carlson. Chris was the Vice President of Finance & Operations at the Manuel Lujan Agencies, where she had been employed for over 26 years. Chris was a charter member of the UNM Leadership Team for the Popejoy Hall Ovation Series. She loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandsons. The rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven, 5310 Claremont NE. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven. SAIZ -- Mr. Eusivio T. Saiz, 78, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 16,2004. Mr. Saiz is the beloved husband of 52 years to Mrs. Lucille Saiz. Mr. Saiz is also survived by three daughters, Kathy Messer, Judy Gallegos and husband, Gilbert, Elizabeth Jacoby and husband, Dean; one son, Archie Saiz; a daughter-in-law, Robin Saiz; two sisters, Telesfora Sanchez and Nellie Gibbons; one brother, Jimmy Saiz and wife, Bruna; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Orlando Saiz; many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Saiz was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. SALIANI -- Anthony Saliani, 70, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, passed away on May 15, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Jeanne of Albuquerque; son, Dean Saliani and Diane Chase of Peta Luma, CA; daughters, Raegina Naul and husband, J.C. of Lubbock, TX and Angela Vincent and husband, Duane of Le Compte, LA; brother, Frank Saliani and wife, Inathe of Brick, NJ; grandson, Bryan Naul of Lubbock, TX; granddaughters, Brittany Naul of Lubbock, TX and Nicole Vincent of Le Compte, LA. SCHIFANI -- Darlene Diane Schifani. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Diane was born November 12, 1926 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and died May 14, 2004 of cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orla Victoria and Clarence Elmer Anderson of Pipestone, Minnesota. Diane is survived by her husband, of 57 years Joseph Daniel Schifani; daughters, Pati Pfeil and husband, Robin Pfeil of Buffalo, N.Y., Cindi Schifani of Albuquerque; son, Ricky Schifani of Santa Fe; two grandchildren, Scott Pfeil and Kim (Pfeil) King, both of Buffalo; three great-grandchildren, Joey, Nick and Alyssa King of Buffalo and several other nieces and nephews.
