GALLEGOS, AUGUSTINE age 74, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015. Mr. Gallegos is survived by his sisters, Emma Gabaldon and husband, Ismael, Stella Bautista and husband, Joe, Christine Castillo and husband, Richard, and Dora Chavez and husband, Ruben; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. MUNOZ, MELECIO JR. Melecio "JuJu" Munoz Jr., age 34, on January 5, 2015 the gates of heaven opened and Jesus welcomed Junior home. He was well known and loved throughout Albuquerque. JuJu was always willing to help his family and friends out. He will be remembered as a loving, giving and funny husband, father, son, and brother (even when he didn't realize he was being funny). The world has lost a great man but gained a guardian angel. Junior is survived by his loving wife Danielle Rodriguez-Munoz; son Randy Munoz; daughters Daisy and Danette Flores; parents Nancy and Melecio Munoz Sr.; sisters Debra and Denise Gallegos, Felma Chavez and Elvira Munoz; brothers-in-law Steve Griego and Ray Chavez. The memory of you will always be in our hearts. This is not goodbye but see you later. Until we meet again we love and miss you. MARTINEZ, TERESA RAFAELA PADILLA age 87, born in Los Padillas, New Mexico to Rafael and Demesia Padilla, passed away peacefully in her childhood home on Monday, January 5, 2015. Teresa was a lifelong New Mexico Educator, beginning her teaching career at the elementary level in San Rafael, New Mexico. She later taught for over twenty years in the Los Lunas Public Schools and loved helping children learn. Teresa became an avid traveler, when upon graduation from Albuquerque High School, Class of 1945,she visited Niagara Falls and New York City with her sisters. Throughout her later years, Teresa traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Holy Land, Mexico and the United States. She loved meeting new people from around the world and hearing about their lives. Teresa received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1948 from the Catholic Teachers College of New Mexico, later known as the University of Albuqueque. Teresa was a devoted, lifetime member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Legion of Mary, serving in a leadership role throughout her tenure, and a member of the People's Eucharistic League. Teresa was also involved as a Lay Minister with Church of the Ascension, her home parish. She relished the opportunity to serve the church in this capacity. Teresa is survived by a daughter, Dr. Berlinda Martinez-Gallegos and husband, Gilbert of Tega Cay, South Carolina; son Richard Martinez and wife, Gerri; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters in law, Predicanda Padilla, Lina Padilla, Alma Martinez, and Stella Ortega; brother in law, Jose Aramante Martinez Jr.; numerous nieces, and nephews, including State Senator Michael Padilla, New Mexico Cabinet Secretary of Taxation and Revenue, Demesia Padilla, and former Secretary of State, Clara Padilla-Andrews; and a host of friends. Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Martinez; her son, Rafael (Ralph) Martinez; parents, Rafael and Demesia Padilla; sisters, Andrea Chavez, Cleotilde (Cleo) Garcia, and Celestina Lopez; brothers, Julian, Ralph, Carmel, and Desiderio (Phil) Padilla. Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by the Legion of Mary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of the Ascension, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. GONZALES, ERNEST M. Age 80, a life-long resident of Albuquerque died after a long illness on Sunday, January 4, 2015 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Veronica Gonzales; three children, Michael Gonzales, Barbara Fuller and husband John, and Dorothy Garcia and husband Ted; grandchildren, Adam, Theresa, David, Dominique, Benjamin, Daniel, Ted Jr., and Michael; great- grandchildren, Victoria Rose, Anthony, and Angelo; sister, Inez Gonzales; and numerous other relatives and friends. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Francisca Madrid Gonzales; son, Ernest Martin Gonzales; and sister, Vidala Griego. He was born in 1934 in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School. He married the love of his life, Veronica Gallegos in 1954. Ernest had family ties to New Mexico that date back to the Spanish Colonial Period through the Mexican Territorial Period, American Territorial Period and US Statehood. He is a descendant of New Mexico's first European Families which include Captain Juan Gonzales Bas, the first Alcalde mayor of Albuquerque. Ernest was educated as a bookkeeper but worked in sales, working for Galles Chevrolet and retiring from Quality Pontiac. He loved to play the guitar, teaching three of his grandsons how to do the same. Ernest was a born again Christian and played in the church choir at San Ignacio Church. He loved animals, especially his four chihuahuas. Ernest was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. till a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. A Christian Burial Mass will be held at San Ignacio Church, 1300 Walter St. NE on Friday, January 9, 2015, 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. GALLEGOS, DAMIAN ZACHARIAH 23 years old, born December 8, 1991 and passed away peacefully on December 26, 2014 at home with his mom and sisters. Damian was born in Albuquerque, NM and graduated from Valley High School in 2010. He was passionate in his love of sports at a very young age. He always had his dad by his side coaching him throughout football, baseball and junior wrestling. Damian worked for the City of Albuquerque and Transportation Co and he planned on getting his CDL license and driving his own big truck. He had a passion for riding his Honda CBR motorcycle which he received as a graduation gift from his dad, Chris Romero. Damian loved his baby "Icon", his beloved German Shepherd with all his heart. He had a love for art, which he expressed in his tatoos, his drawings and his paintings. He loved playing pool, fishing, training his beloved "Icon" to compete in frisbee competitions and loved most of all spending time with his family and all his friends. He was loved by so many and had a special relationship with all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Chris and Geri Romero; his sisters, Michelle, Reese and Sidney; grandparents, Roger and Trudy Gallegos (Pa and Gama) and Viola Hunter; uncles, Joe, (best big brother in the world) Marcel, D.J. and Frank; aunties, Julia (best auntie in the world), Sandy and many cousins. He had a strong bond with his cousin "Heaven". Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Church on Osuna NE, Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. MONTOYA, CRISTOBAL (CHRIS) Cristobal (Chris) Montoya, 81, was called home to be with the Lord on January 2, 2015. He was born on March 28, 1933 in Albuquerque, NM, to Pedro and Delfina Montoya. Chris was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, of 43 years in 2001. He is survived by his son, Anthony Montoya, and wife Lorraine of Albuquerque; daughter Michelle Martin and husband Robert of Sandia Park; and four grandchildren, Anthony, Lisa and Matthew Montoya, and Christopher Martin. Chris proudly served in the Army, completing a combat tour of duty during the Korean War. He enjoyed golf and fishing, but especially loved attending athletic and musical events of his grandchildren. Chris will always be remembered for his devotion to his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 Saint Joseph's Avenue NW, with visitation one hour prior.
