Smith -- Lois L Smith, 75, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died on Friday, October 20, 2000 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lois is survived by her daughters, June Cash and husband, Robert of Indianapolis, IN. and Judy R Smith of McLean, VA; son, Duane Smith and wife, Caroline Gupton of Temple, TX; grandchildren, Jay Miller, Deanna Miller, Ian Groves and wife, Yvette, Kirsty Archuleta and husband, Daniel, and Nicole Smith; great-granddaughter, Shay Lee Archuleta. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, V. Keith Smith in 1998. Lois was a longtime member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. She was past president of the SANADO Women's club as well as the Chapter Apple. Nancy. of Paul. Edward. Oscar. Sisterhood. Ms. Smith was active in many organizations including the Tumbleweeds RV group and several Bridge clubs. Visitation will be Friday, October 27, 2000 from 3:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. N.E. Services will be Saturday, October 28, 2000, 11:00 am. at St John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St. NE. Landess -- Ruth Landess, 76, born on November 23, 1923, passed away on October 23, 2000 after a long illness. Ruth lived in Albuquerque for the past 65 years. Her husband, Asborn Eugene Landess, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Patsy Wilhelm of Albuquerque; brother Rey Bell of Amarillo, TX; her daughter, Nelda Smith and husband Don of Chaparral, NM; son David Landess and wife Paula of Santa Theresa, NM; daughter Darlene Gonzales and husband Frankie of Albuquerque; daughter Dottie Harland of Albuquerque; son John Landess and wife Kim of New Buffalo, MI; and son, Michael Landess and wife Karen of Albuquerque. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was happiest when surrounded by her family. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. Ruth loved the Lord and has now joined Him in Heaven. In Lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to the Diabetes Foundation. Visitation will be at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26 and from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27. Services will be held in the Palm Chapel on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Sandia Memorial Gardens on 9500 San Pedro NE.

Davis -- Our beloved Sister Gloria Ann Davis, of Ft. Defiance, AZ, has journeyed home to God on October 16, 2000. She was born September 5, 1933 into the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians for Red Running into Water (Tachii'nii) and (Kiyaa'aanii) the Towering House clan. She was a member of Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for 48 years. Sister Gloria graduated from the Gallup Cathedral High in May 1952. Sister entered into religious life with the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in August 1952 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. She made her first profession of vows on March 9, 1955. Sister obtained a college BA degree in education at Xavier University, New Orleans, LA in May 1959, and then made her final vows in August 1960. She obtained an MA degree at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois in May 1982. After her profession, Sister Gloria was missioned at several places over 48 years as a member of Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. Missions include Church Point, LA; Corpus Christi, New Orleans; Tekakwitha, Houck, AR; Catholic Indian Center, Gallup, NM; Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Philadelphia, PA; St. Michaels, AZ; Rock Castle, VA; Our Lady of the Rosary, Pinon, AZ, Pala, CA; St. Catherine Indian School, Santa Fe, NM, and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Ft. Defiance, AZ. Sister Gloria is survived by her sisters, Eleanor M. Davis-Smith of Albuquerque, NM, Rose Bernadette Leyba of Albuquerque, NM, Loretta Davis-Chavez of Pinehaven, AZ, Patricia Ann Davis of Tucson, AZ, and Mae Begay of Bluewater, NM; brothers, Anselm G. Davis Jr. of Rio Rancho, NM, Ralph U. Davis of Albuquerque, NM, William P. Davis of Ft. Defiance, AZ, Robert M. Davis of Farmington, NM, Anselm K. Davis of Fruitland, NM; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews & relatives. Preceded in death by her parents, Anselm G. Davis, Sr. and Aileen (Ben) Davis; sister, Pearl Davis-Tome; brothers, Michael Davis and George Davis. Rohrmann -- Madeline S. Rohrmann, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, October 6, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Rohrmann of Albuquerque, Melinda Lorenzen and husband, Charles of Albuquerque, Deborah Smith and husband, Alan of Woodland Park, CO.; grandchildren, Michael Lorenzen and wife, Morgan of Antioch, CA., David Lorenzen of Albuquerque, John Lorenzon of Denver, CO, Steven Lorenzon of Albuquerque, Courtney Smith of Woodland Park, CO. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ewald Rohrmann; brothers, Theodore, Jacob and Francis Siener; sisters, Marie Stonehouse, Amelia Shinkle, Pauling Arvin and Antoinette Swallow. As a young adult, Madeline played the cello with two of her sisters in the Siener Trio. Madeline was a medical secretary at Eli Lilly and Co. in Indianapolis, Indiana. She enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and the world. Memorial Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at La Vida Llena Life Care Retirement Community, 10501 Lagrima de Oro Road NE 87111. Garcia -- Gary"Guermo" Garcia, 43, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Diana Garcia; daughter, Martha Garcia; step-children, Josie Smith, Brenda Smith and Joey Smith; mother, Angie Garcia; brother, Antonio Garcia; sister, Roseann Anaya and husband, Anthony; close friend, Deborah Lucero, all of Albuquerque; and several stepgrandchildren. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his father; and one brother. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 817 Arno SE, with Father Seferino Ledesma, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Smith -- Anthony Hugh Smith, a longtime resident of New Mexico, died recently in his home in Cedar Crest. He was born December 5, 1939 in Rochester, NY to Dr. Hugh Allan and Mrs. Aubigne (Cushing) Smith. Anthony"Tony" Smith grew up in the East, mainly in Bangor, Maine. He graduated from Bangor H.S. in 1957, worked for Picker X-Ray Corporation in Boston, and then returned to school at the University of Maine, Orono, graduating in 1965 with a B.S. in Entomology. After graduation, he moved to Las Cruces and entered New Mexico State University, graduating with his M.S. in Entomology in 1967. During this time, he married the former Mary Beatham. He then worked in New Mexico for the U.S. Forest Service and NM Agriculture Department in entomology for 20 years. He had special expertise on the spruce budworm, and attended nationwide conferences as a speaker. He eventually worked for the State of New Mexico as an environmental specialist for over ten years. Tony enjoyed the outdoors very much, having spent a good deal of his life as a research entomologist in the wild. He also enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor pastimes. Tony was well-liked by those he met and worked with. He was great fun to be around and will be sadly missed. Survivors include his ex-wife, Mary Beatham Smith; his step-daughter, Michelle Smith, both of New Mexico; his sisters, Meryl Deane of Pittsfield, MA, Bethany Greig of Clinton, CT, Penny Guyaz of Winthrop, ME, and Holly Bean of Acton, ME; and one brother, Dan Smith of Manassas, VA. A Memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., October 7, 2000, at the Doc Long picnic area in the Sandia Mountains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your preferred environmental organization or to a children's charity of foundation.
