VALDEZ -- Lawrence G. Valdez Jr., 67, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2004. He was born on March 22, 1937 in Bernalillo, New Mexico. He is survived by children, Robert Valdez and wife, Renee, Jane Gallegos, Rhonda Garcia and husband, James, Pauline Galloway and husband, Joe, Ray Valdez and wife, Christy, and Bruce Sanchez; one step-son, Daniel Valdez and fiance, Kim; one brother, Dick Galloway and wife, Denise and one sister, Annie Armijo; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Valdez will be missed by his loving family. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the Church. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be John Lambert, Benny Barry, Wilbert Bruce, Aaron Valdez, Gilly Valdez, Martin Archibeque, Ernie Benevidez and Juanito Trujillo. BUSCH -- Pauline Busch, a longtime resident of Albuquerque's North Valley and Los Lunas was called home to heaven on Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Busch, sisters, Mollie, Katie, Elizabeth and brothers, Cooney, Louis and Phillip. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, William Ross Spear. She is survived by her children, Roger D. Busch of Amarillo, Marilyn K. Cannon and husband, James R. of Los Lunas and Patricia Busch of Florida as well by her grandchildren, Darrell Busch, Bret Busch, Paula Spear, Naomi Spear Martin and husband, Jeff, Aaron Busch, and these great-grandchildren, Ross Allen Martin, Mitchell Ian Spear and Chandler Kay Spear. Pauline was born in Hastings, Nebraska shortly after her family arrived in the United States as German immigrants from Russia. She was raised on a farm in Bayard, Nebraska. There she met and married Peter at the age of 26. Peter and Pauline moved to Albuquerque in 1942. In 1952 they opened Busch's Bakery on N. 4th Street and worked side-by-side there for many years. Pauline will always be remembered and respected for her integrity, her sense of humor, her compassion but most of all for the unconditional love and devotion she gave to all of her family. LOVATO -- Augustine I. Lovato 49, a beloved and devoted father and grandfather, passed away April 17, 2004 after a long illness. He is survived by his sons; Mike, Gene and Jacob and one daughter; Sandra; his beautiful granddaughters; Alana, Luciana, Isabel and Aniston; one sister; Josie Velasquez and mom Lucia Serrano. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 20th at 7:00 PM at The Chapel of Sunrise, Sunrise Funeral Options, 7601 Wyoming Blvd, NE, Albuquerque, with a second visitation Wednesday night at 7:00 PM in Canones, NM at the San Miguel Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Thursday morning, April 22nd at 10:00 at San Miguel Catholic Church in Canones, NM. ADAMS -- Miller Harold (Hal) Adams went to his creator April 15, 2004 at 10:58 a.m after a long three year illness. Mr. Adams, 75, was born March 15, 1929 in Harrisonburg, VA, to Stella Miller Adams and Franklin Adams. He lived in Staunton, VA, until he joined the Air Force in 1948. Mr. Adams was stationed in San Antonio, TX, Cheyenne, WY, and New York. His overseas assignments from 1949 to 1954 were in Tripoli, Libya; the American Embassy in Rome, Italy; and Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Paris, France. Mr. Adams worked for General Narstod and his wife, Juanita (Fay), at SHAPE where she too was in the military. After SHAPE, he was assigned to the Pentagon and worked for the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1954 to 1958. Mr. Adams was married to Fay while stationed at the Pentagon. They were married in Stanton, VA, in December of 1954. In 1958, he was transferred to Sandia Base. In the summer of 1961, he went to Izmir, Turkey and worked for NATO where his wife and oldest son joined him. From Izmir, Turkey, he came back to Sandia Base. Mr. Adams was First Sergeant of the Air Force Squadron. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years in 1968. Mr. Adams went to work at Sandia Base Federal Credit Union days after his Air Force retirement. He was a loan officer, then president/CEO at the SAFCU until 1994 when he retired at age 65. Hal enjoyed being a little league coach where he coached both sons in the Roadrunner League. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 49 years, Fay and two sons; Martin H. and William F. He is also survived by sisters; Dorothy Heffington and husband Linwood and family of Virginia Beach, VA, Betty and Bob Thompson of Bridgewater, VA; brother Larry and Isabel Adams and family of Staunton, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving Hal are his sisters-in-law, Lita and Ernest Vigil and family of Santa Fe, Elsie Brown and family of Austin, TX, Margie and Ruben Mares and family of Albuquerque, many nieces and nephews and a dear childhood friend, Philip Stanley, of Staunton, VA. There are also many dear cousins in the Sanandoa Valley and Washington, D.C. areas. Mr. Adams shied away from mentioning the fact that one of his ancestors was John Quincy Adams. Hal was a descendant of the Adams who first settled in Virginia (mostly farmers) and Maryland area. He was distantly related to the politician, Sherman Adams, who was from the Maryland Adamses. To his wife and sons, he was the wind beneath our wings. He was our Rock of Gibraltar. Our love for him goes beyond words. He told us he was going to heaven and would be waiting for us. Our most sincere thanks go to the Presbyterian Hospice personnel who were so helpful and kind: nurses Cathy and Jan, caregivers Mary, Rebecca, and Vera, Chaplain Pat and Sister Norma. Thanks also to the Presbyterian Hospital staff at SAC on the 4th floor. The care they gave was outstanding. Thank you, Dr. Klager. ARENA -- Chris H. Arena, 21, died Friday, April 16, 2004. He is survived by his big brother and best friend, Tim Arena and Tamra Parada; daughter, Leticia (Star) Arena; Jeanette Gonzales, her daughter, Maria, and unborn son; father, Tim Arena Sr. and Tina Wilson all of Albuquerque; mother, Lydia Arena and Audie Holmes; grandparents, Ray and Agapita Owens all of Las Cruces, NM; grandparents, Willie and Margene Harrell of California; aunt and uncle, Layle and Raymond Owens of Las Cruces; nephews, David and Devin Bracamonte of Las Cruces and Jeff and Cody Harrell of California; step-brothers, Timmy and Tommy Wilson of Albuquerque; great-grandmother, Conny Arena of California; grandfather, Joe Arena of California; two uncles, John Arena and Matt Harrell of California; cousins, Twilla Arena, JJ, Josh, Christine and Selina Garcia. Chris was loved by his best friends, Martin and Dominic Montoya and Travis and Gatlin Ortiz, "we love you." Christopher was an avid motorcyclist, and he enjoyed remote controlled vehicles, trucks and working with engines. He enjoyed life to the fullest, and he will be missed and loved by family and friends alike. Anyone that ever met Chris knows that he left a part of himself with them. MCDANIEL -- Donna McDaniel, age 74, Passed away April 10, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen and wife, Sue and Martin; three grandchildren, Jennifer George and husband, Dan, Brooke McDaniel, and Jeff McDaniel. Donna is also survived by her two precious great-grandchildren, Andrew McDaniel and Kelley George. Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery on April 15, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of choice.

ORTEGA -- Medardo Ortega, passed away Easter Sunday April 11,2004. He was born May 22, 1915 in Chimayo NM. Medardo is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jennie of the family home. Sons, Eloy Ortega and wife, Mary Ann, Gus and Reggie Castillo. Daughters, Bonnie Narvaiz and husband, Tony, Rose Weatherly and husband, John, Dolores Baca and husband, Robert. Brother, David Ortega; and special nephew, Robert Ortega both of Ortega's Weaving Shop in Chimayo. Mr. Ortega was preceded in death by his parents, Nicasio and Virginia Ortega; brothers, JoseRamon and Richard Ortega; and sister, Martha Maestas. He leaves 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. The Rosary and Funeral Mass will both be held Thursday, April 15, 2004 at San Martin Catholic Church, 8321 San Martin SW. ADKISON -- Marilyn Francis Adkison, 66, a longtime resident of Moriarty, NM passed away Sunday April 11, 2004 at home in Moriarty, NM. She was born October 18, 1937, in Artesia, NM, to Floyd and Ruby Pearl (Denson) Massey. She is survived by two daughters, Dana and her husband Don Graham, of Moriarty, NM, and Lana and her husband Gray Fielder, of Moriarty, NM; six brothers Jerry and his wife Debbie Massey, Tom and his wife Shirley Massey, Sonny Massey, Joe Massey, Fred Wilson, and David Massey; Two sisters Maxine and her husband Kenneth Clark, and Patsy and her husband Robert Johnson; a special friend Ed Morrison, and four grandchildren. Marilyn F. Adkison will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. JIRON -- Candido (Candy) Rudolph Jiron, 72 years old when our Lord took him from his family. He passed away April 12, 2004, at 12:00 noon. He was at Kindred Care Hospital with his loved ones by his side and he passed away in peace. Candy lived in Albuquerque, NM for most of his life. He was born on June 29, 1931. He was a very strong, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Candy is survived by his wife, Sally Jiron; two daughters, Louella Lopez and partner, Joe Jarimillo, Sirilia (Seda) and Lawrence Pacheco; two sons, Rudy and Jenny Jiron, Greg Jiron all from Albuquerque, NM; two brothers, Maria and Liz Jiron, Tony and Melba Jiron both from Albuquerque, NM; and one sister, Helen Lafabre from California. He had ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Candy was employed at Route 66 Casino as a shuttle driver, he enjoyed his job. We will always remember grandpa Candy and his love for sports. He was very active in coaching his children and grandchildren at baseball.
