Sanchez -- Jennie R. Sanchez, 76, a long time resident of El Cerro, New Mexico died peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2001 in Hoonah, Alaska, surrounded by her loving daughter, son, and husband, Camilio Sanchez. She was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Valencia, NM and a member of the Sacred Heart League. She was preceded in death by her son Camilio Jr. whom died in 1968; her sister Nikki Romero; and her brother Ernest Romero. She is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Camilio A. Sanchez; daughter, Jennie Garcia and husband, Greg of Hoonah, Alaska; and six sons; Robert of Arkansas, Manuel and wife, Norma of Beeville, Texas, Raymond and wife, Carol of Virginia, Dennis and wife, Cathy of Albuquerque, Steve and wife, Magdalen of Adelino, NM, and Chris and wife, Barbara of Anchorage, Alaska; her brothers, Frank Romero and wife, Frosie, Frankie Serrano; her sister, Elicia Romero, Helen Montano and husband, Lalo, Tita Chavez and husband, Johnny, Rosie Martinez and husband, Leo; her aunt and friend; Julia Benavidez. She leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Sanchez will be held on Monday, June 4 at St. Edwins Catholic Church, 1205 Barcelona Rd in Albuquerque, where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Garcia, Steven Ben Sanchez, James Sanchez, Matthew Sanchez, Adam Sanchez, A Rosary for Mrs. Sanchez will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. by Stella Chavez with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. at St. Edwins Church. Trujillo -- Johnny George Trujillo, 57, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2001. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Trujillo; father, Porfirio Trujillo; sister, Laura Limon Gallegos; and brother, Porfy Trujillo. He is survived by his wife, Tina Velarde; children, Yvonne Montoya (Nolan), Eugene Trujillo, Michael Trujillo, Robert, Monica, Therese Velarde, Clarita, Carmen, and John Trujillo. He is also survived by his mother, Cordelia Trujillo; sisters, Lydia Paiz (Andy), Cirila Leal (Richard), and Kathy Trujillo; brothers, Gilbert Trujillo (Elida), and Chris Trujillo (Irene); and 13 grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2001. Gomez -- Johnny E. Gomez, a resident of Tracy, CA passed from this life May 25, 2001. He is survived by his wife Christine (Punky) Gomez; John Gomez II, Juanita Loomis & husband, Mike, Frances Gomez-Dessel & husband Bill, Kelly Gomez-Flores & husband, Ismael and grandchildren, Micahel Loomis, Jessica Loomis, Megan Dessel and Jennifer Dessel. He is also survived by his sisters, Ethel Martinez of Tucumcari and Virginia Gonzalez and husband Raymond of Bluewater. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Wells -- Jack "Cracker" Wells, 77, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away in Roswell, NM on May 24, 2001. Jack was born on January 20, 1924 to James L. and Mennel L. (McDaniel) Wells in Gran Quivira, NM. Jack lived in Roswell, NM for 30 years, he was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Marvin Wells. Jack is survived by a special-special friend, Mildred McDonald of Capitan, NM; three sons, Johnny Bascom Wells, and his wife Norma of Albuquerque, NM, Jack Randall Wells and his wife Julie of Edgewood, NM, Rex Wells and his wife Marjorie of Rio Rancho, NM, Bill Wells and his wife Carolyn of Claunch, NM; three sisters, Nora Mae Austin of Estancia, NM, Dora Ellen Hubbard of San Antonio, NM, Lora Ann Morris of Andrews, TX; five Grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Services are scheduled for Sunday, May 27, 2001 at 1:30 pm at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM. Burial will be immediately following the service at the White Lakes Cemetery in Gran Quivira. Officiating the service will be Jacks brothers, Vernie and Ray Wells. Pallbearers are Marlin Austin, J.E. Wells, Jeff Wells, Ken Wells, Wendell Wells, Wes Wells, honorary pallbearers are Chester Riley, L.C. Stiles and Ernest Wright. Simoes -- Jose (Joe) Simoes, age 67, died early Thursday morning, May 24, 2001 at his home in Portales. He was born September 21, 1933 in Cambridge, MA to Rose and Antonio Simoes. Mr. Simoes grew up in Plymouth, MA. He entered the United States Air Force when he was 17 years of age, and served for 20 years. He was a flight steward for much of that time, and flew all over the world. He was stationed in San Antonio, TX at the time of his retirement in 1971. Later that same year he moved to Albuquerque, and began a career with ARA Food Services working at the Indian Institute. In 1978, he moved to Portales and was the Director of Food Services at Eastern New Mexico University until his retirement. For the past six years, he had managed the snack bar at Portales High School. On June 11, 1955 in Plymouth, MA he was married to Belen Rael. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Chapel at Cannon Air Force Base. Joe loved baseball, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and by a sister, Florinda Morency. Joe is survived by his wife of more than 45 years, Belen Simoes of their home in Portales; sons, Russell Simoes of Richmond, VA and Glenn Simoes of Portales; daughters, Patricia M. and Lewie Baker of Clayton, NM and Michelle Simoes of Portales; brothers, Johnny Simoes of Carver, MA, Alcino Simoes of Plymouth, MA and Tony Simoes of Las Vegas, NM; three grandchildren, Evan Baker and his wife, Rhonda of Portales, Virginia Rose Baker of Clayton, NM and Dawn Baker of Clayton, NM; one great-grandchild expected in July 2001. A Vigil Service will be held Monday evening, May 28, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel. Deacon Louis Montoya will officiate at that service. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Chapel on Cannon Air Force Base. Those desiring to attend will be admitted to the base at either gate by simply identifying their purpose in wanting on base. Fr. Antonio Moreno will celebrate the Mass assisted by Deacon Louis Montoya. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Pallbearers will be Evan Baker, Donato Sanchez, Eddie Reyes, Dave Scandalito, Kyle Hultz and Dr. Andy Sae. Honorary Pallbearers will be Orlando Sanchez, Dr. Maximo Torres, Barbara and Dr. Robert Timmons, Dr. Paul Lockman, Gay and Bob Strong, Cecilia Reyes and Zane Pacheco, with a special thanks to Gay Strong and Dr. Maximo Torres. Marchiondo -- Notable Raton resident Joe G. Marchiondo, 80, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2001, with his loving family at his side. His strong will enabled him to fight his illness with hope, grace and dignity. His beautiful blue eyes, humor, great smile and loving spirit will be greatly missed. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, Millie; and four children, Nancy Thrash and husband, Tommy of Lubbock, TX, Rick Marchiondo and wife, JaNee of Raton, Randy Marchiondo and friend, Alice Martinez of Raton, and Linda Marchiondo of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers, Julio Marchiondo and wife, Betty of Raton, and Bill Marchiondo of Albuquerque; and three sisters, Alberina Brandolino, Laurie Scarselli and Carolina Moore. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Anna Marchiondo; and brothers, Johnny, Charlie, Eddie and Tony. Joe was born January 19, 1921 to Tony and Anna Marchiondo, the sixth of ten children. He graduated from Raton High School in 1939 and attended the University of Albuquerque for two years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on November 9, 1942. He proudly served his country in the South Pacific during WWII and received his honorable Discharge as Technical Sergeant on October 22, 1945. He married Millie Mutton on November 23, 1944 in Raton, where they have lived and raised their family. Joe also served as State Representative of New Mexico for the Eighth District, was a member of VFW for over 50 years and a member of the B.P.O.E. 865 for 55 years. Joe had a variety of business interests in his lifetime and received many distinguished awards and honors. At the time of his death, he was the owner and operator of the Capri Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Improvement Fund or the Arthur Johnson Memorial Library. Services were held Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Guy Roberts officiating. Rosary was held at 9:30 a.m. Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements for Joe G. Marchiondo are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home.

Baca -- Erlinda Baca passed away at the age of 42 on Sunday, May 20, 2001. Mrs. Baca was preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Lawrence Baca; her grandson, Lawrence Baca III; and her mother Antonia Vigil. Erlinda is survived by her loving five children; two daughters, Maryann Baca and husband, Michael Sosa and Rose Baca and husband, Vance Chino; three sons, Lawrence Baca, Jr. and fiancÈe Danielle, Maragrito Baca and Seymour Baca; five wonderful grandchildren who she loved very much, Gabriel Baca, Martin Chino, Marisol Sosa, Michael Chino, and Angel Baca; five brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews. Colson -- Christine M. Colson, 53, a lifetime resident of New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2001. Christine was born September 3, 1947 the daughter of Macario Christobal and Talpita Emilina Mondragon Trujillo in Taos, New Mexico. She had been a secretary for the Aeroparts company and was an active member of the Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque. Christine was preceded in death by her son Michael Willems in 1987 and her father, Macario Trujillo in 1997. She is survived by her husband, Joe Colson of Albuquerque; mother, Pita Trujillo of Albuquerque; daughter, Theresa Willems-Gallegos and husband, Robert; step-sons, Christopher Colson and wife, Holly and Bradley Colson all of Albuqeurque; sisters, Lucy Gallegos and husband, Johnny, Sr. Bernadette Lovato and husband, Leonard; brothers, Jake Trujillo and wife, Katherine, Herman Trujillo and wife, Celina, all of Albuquerque, Joseph Trujillo and wife, Dianne of Mechanicsville, VA; grandchildren, Deena and Michael Gallegos and Benjamin and Hailey Colson. Christine is remebered as an excellent, wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a"darn good" Keno player. Visitation will be held today, Friday, May 18, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with the Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2001 in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho, with Pastor David Row officiating.
