GARCIA -- Juan Carlos Garcia, 36, passed away on February 14, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife Sonya; his parents, Irma and Ismael Barron, Sr.; two daughters, Mia and Aryana Garcia; mother and father-in-law, Ray and Beverly Martinez; brothers, Ismael Barron Jr. (Mayra), from Mexico, Raul Barron, from California; sister, Maritrini Rodriquez, from California; brother-in-law, Jr. Martinez; grandmother, Trinidad Melin. Juan Carlos was preceded in death by his grandfather, Juan Manuel Melin. Juan Carlos was a resident of Albuquerque since 1998. He was a lover of fishing, drawing, and painting, and a hard worker. Juan loved his family, especially his girls. Visitation will be held Friday, February 18, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at St. Bernadette. HERNANDEZ -- Albina M. Hernandez, age 99, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmundo G. Hernandez; and two daughters, Dolores A. and Elodia P. Albina is survived by three daughters, Grace Hernandez Fink and husband, Bob, Juliet C. Richardson, and RoseAnn Hernandez; eight grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She began her college education at St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande, formerly, Catholic Teacher's College then transferred to New Mexico A & M. She earned her Master Teacher's Elementary Life Certificate on June 12, 1953, followed by a Master of Arts degree on June 15, 1962, both from the University of New Mexico. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the Retired Teachers Sorority, as well as a long time parishioner of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the choir. Albina enjoyed reading, knitting and traveling. She will be dearly missed. A Memorial Rosary will be held Friday, February 18, 2011, 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 19, 2011, 11:30 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. JEFFERSON -- Florine R. Jefferson, daughter of Abraham and Pearl Macklin, was born February 15, 1915 in Houston Texas. Florine met and married Fredrick O. Jefferson in Philadelphia, PA. She departed this life on February 11, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. Florine was preceded in death by husband Fredrick and son Elbert. She is survived by: two daughters Charmaine McCormick and Beverly Spurlock; son Wilson Reaves; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; great-great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews, and other relatives and friends. LEWIS -- Elsie M Lewis, 93, passed away peacefully at home February 15, 2011. Born in Montpelier, Ohio she moved to and lived in Albuquerque since 1939. She is survived by her daughter, Sharin Francis of Greensboro, NC; son, Terry L. Lewis of Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mergie Birmingham; and several siblings. Elsie was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed. She worked as a dietician in a nursing home and was an incredible homemaker. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. REICHARD -- Nancy J. Reichard, 72, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Josephson and husband, Ray; a sister, Carole Domres and husband, Ronald; a niece, Debbie Williamson and husband, Denny and family; a nephew, Bob Domres and wife, Sherri; goddaughter, Sandra Ross and husband, John and family; two great-nieces, Theresa and Fallon; her beloved dog, Dusty and five grand-dogs that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther (Granny). Nancy was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and a very sweet lady to all that knew and cared for her. ROMERO -- Candelaria Chavez Romero was called home to Our Heavenly Father on February 16, 2011 at the age of 95. She was born February 2, 1916 in Duran NM, to Mr. and Mrs. Jose Leon Chavez. As a young mother and wife, she was also the owner of a Ladies Apparel store in Vaughn NM. She was preceeded in death by her beloved husband, Santiago Romero Jr.; and two sisters, Alice Gutierrez and Louisita Chavez; and one brother, Jose Lojino Chavez. She is survived by seven children: daughter, Glory Tschabold; son Buddy (Jose Leon) Romero and wife Mary; son Richard Raymond Romero and wife Mary; daughter Angie Kipp; son Jimmy Romero; daughter Barbara Romero; and daughter Liz Romero; She had 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great - great - grandchildren. Catholic Rosary and Mass celebration will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., respectively, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. Private interment will take place at a later date in Duran, NM. Cremation arrangements were provided by Riverside Funeral Home.

SALAS -- Josefita Salas, 95, a resident of Albuquerque passed away with her loving family at her side on February 16, 2011. Mrs. Salas is survived by her loving children, Rosie Alderette and husband, Leo, Tom Salas and wife, Theresa, and Bob Salas and wife, Christina; her brothers, James Armijo and wife, Lilly, and Orlando Armijo and wife, Madeline; her grandchildren, Leon Alderette, Cathy Garland and husband, Edwin, Tommy Salas, Clifford Salas and wife, Lydia, Michelle Brown and husband, Tom, Lisa Gamboa and husband, Louie, Kim Herrera and husband, Eric; her great-grandchildren, Jason Garland, Pamela Garland, Amber McClaren, Diego Herrera, Mia Herrera, Malerie Gamboa, Ryan Gamboa, Brisa Gamboa, Thomas Salas, and Amanda Salas; her caretakers Dolly, Susan, Margaret, Juanita and Nayeli; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Salas was preceded in death by her husband Tom A. Salas in 2000. Visitaiton will be Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m., by her grandchildren. Final visitation will be Monday, February 21, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Rd. SW, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Franciscan Friar. Interment will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. VAUGHAN -- Richard H. Vaughan Sr., age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011. He was born in Paducah, TX to JD and Marie Vaughan. He was a general contractor throughout the state. Richard served in the United States Marine Corps and participated in the assault on Okinawa from May 27, 1945 through July 7, 1945. Richard received his Purple Heart for wounds received in action. He loved country music, dancing and cooking. Richard also had a great appreciation for western art. He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Louise Vaughan and son, Richard H. Vaughan Jr. Richard is survived by his daughter, Johnna J. Storey of Los Lunas; granddaughters, Jeanette McCall of Colorado and Bonnie Wiethoff of Albuquerque and great-grandchildren, Santana Padilla, Halen Padilla, Caylin Doxey and Milla Wiethoff. A graveside service with full military honors for Ricahrd will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of his life at Bonnie Wiethoff's home.
