Obituary for VAUGHAN

Richard H. Vaughan Sr., age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011. He was born in Paducah, TX to JD and Marie Vaughan. He was a general contractor throughout the state. Richard served in the United States Marine Corps and participated in the assault on Okinawa from May 27, 1945 through July 7, 1945. Richard received his Purple Heart for wounds received in action. He loved country music, dancing and cooking. Richard also had a great appreciation for western art. He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Louise Vaughan and son, Richard H. Vaughan Jr. Richard is survived by his daughter, Johnna J. Storey of Los Lunas; granddaughters, Jeanette McCall of Colorado and Bonnie Wiethoff of Albuquerque and great-grandchildren, Santana Padilla, Halen Padilla, Caylin Doxey and Milla Wiethoff. A graveside service with full military honors for Ricahrd will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of his life at Bonnie Wiethoff's home. In lieu of flower donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans in Richard's honor. Information may be found at www.dav.org.
