MAURER -- LORRIE G. 1941-2011 Age 70, a life-long resident of Los Lunas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, July 25, 2011 unexpectedly at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Alejandro "Alex" and Manuela "Mela" Tafoya Gonzales. She was the oldest of six children. In 1957 she met Mike J. Baca of Belen and in 1959 they had their daughter Kathy, although Mike passed away prior to her birth. Lorrie then met John Maurer and married on August 5, 1967, this August they would have been married 44 wonderful years. Lorrie was very active and a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church. She and John were responsible for growing the St. Vincent de Paul Society into what it is today. The society has helped many families throughout Valencia County. This led to her receiving the St. Francis de Assisi award presented to her by the most Reverend Michael Sheehan last October in Santa Fe. Lorrie was so proud of this award. She worked throughout Valencia County most of her life and retired 6 years ago from the Village of Los Lunas working primarily at the Municipal Court where she was a court clerk/alternate judge. She spent her last four years at the Los Lunas Public Library. Lorrie touched many lives throughout Valencia County. Anybody she ever met may have come to her door as a stranger, but always left as a friend. She was preceded in death by Mike J. Baca; parents, Aljandro "Alex and Manuela "Mela" Tafoya Gonzales; in-laws, Jose Ynez Baca and Josefita Trujillo Baca and Gertrude and Henry Pagenkopf; brother, Frank Gonzales and wife, Geri; best friend, Ida Castillo of Hesperia, CA; a special cousin, Mary Garcia. Lorrie is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, John F. Maurer; daughter, Kathy Perea; son-in-law, Johnny Perea; grandchildren, Jon Michael Perea and wife, Christina and Nicole Perea and partner, Antonio Garcia; two great-grandchildren, Karina Salazar and Adrian Garcia; siblings, Pauline Peralta and husband, Eddie of Los Chavez, Eddie Gonzales and wife, Rosie of Los Lunas, Mabel Connelly and husband, Steve of Phoenix, AZ, Joe Gonzales and wife, Jeannie of Los Lunas, and Estella Chavez and husband, Tony of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Maria Gonzales of Valencia; brothers-in-law, Hilario and Sylvestre Baca of Belen; god-son, Eli Gonzales and wife, Barbara of Los Lunas and god-daughter, Carmela Tafoya of Hawaii. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All services will be held at the San Clemente Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Final Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the San Clemente Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eli Gonzales, Frank "Sonny" Gonzales, Chris Peralta, Anthony Chavea, Johnny Perea and Joe Griego. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jon Michael Perea, Antonio Garcia, Joseph Gonzales, Eddie "Gino" Gonzales, Philip Peralta, Morris Chavez, Patrick Baca and all the members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The family wishes to thank Lovelace Medical Center ICU 7th Floor, Dr. Metzger, Dr. Costello, Dr. Tanner, Dr. Joseph Aragon at the Los Lunas Family Practice and staff, Father Doug Mitchell, Deacon Bob Burkhard, Connie Flores, Lina Roybal and the entire staff at San Clemente Catholic Church, Donate Life Donor Services for their compassion and Romero Funeral Home for their kind dealings with our family. SAIZ -- STEPHANIE Age 39, went to be with our Lord and Savior Sunday, July 24, 2011. She was born on January 17, 1972 to Stephen J. Saiz Sr. and Roseanne Trujillo, in Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her father, Stephen J. Saiz Sr.; brother, Stephen J. Saiz Jr. Stephanie is survived by her significant other, Phillip Gallegos; her daughter, Sheri Garza and husband AJ; grandson, Urijah Garza; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She worked for APS for 15 years. Stephanie adored her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed cooking, reading and listening to music. A Memorial Service will be conducted at Garcia Mortuary in the Chapel of Angles today, at 1:00 p.m., Inurnment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. FERNANDEZ -- CLORINDA "CORIE" It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt Clorinda "Corie" Fernandez, age 62 of Bernalillo, NM on Sunday, July 24, 2011. Corrie was born September 14, 1948 in Albuquerque, NM to Benjamin and Priscilla Romero. She was retired from Ethicon Endosurgery. Corie was a loving and generous person who touched the hearts and lives of the many whose paths she crossed. Just as she embraced everyone, we embrace Corie in our hearts. Corie is survived by her partner Simon Garcia; her children, Gilbert Fernandez, Brandi Fernandez and Henry Garcia; grandchildren, Joshua and Isaac Fernandez; two brothers; three sisters; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Bernalillo, NM. GUTIERREZ -- ORLANDO ERNEST SR. Age 71, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife Mary Dolores; sons Michael and fiancee Roberta, Orlando Ernesto Jr. (Ernie) and wife Nicole, Paul and wife Natalie Gutierrez; sisters, Flora Garcia, Vangie and husband, Elfego (JR); grandkids, Breana, Diego, Nathaniel, Nickolas, and Savannah; Aunt Mary; Uncle Diego; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Orlando was born in Albuquerque, NM to Ignacio and Margaret Gutierrez. Orlando lived in Albuquerque (Barelas area) before marrying his wife, Mary Dolores Gonzales in December, 1971 and moving to Bernalillo, where they spent the remaining years of his life. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1958. Orlando served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Safeway for 30 plus years, and finished his working years with The City of Albuquerque Senior Program. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. Friends may visit French - Wyoming Chapel Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 29, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 South Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM. Prior to Mass, friends may visit the church at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 9:30. Interment will take place Friday at 12:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. HERRERA -- ROSELLA (ROSE) JARAMILLO Born August 20, 1928 in Sedillo, New Mexico to Oliveros and Onesima Garcia Jaramillo. Rose passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leopoldo and Adelicio Jaramillo; husband, Robert A. Herrera; son, Robert J. Herrera; and two great-grandsons. Rose is survived by her brother Vivian Jaramillo and sister Merlinda Chavez, her children, daughters Rosalie Herrera, Gina Montez, Sylvia Chavez, Jo Anne Lovato, Phyliss Sandoval; son, Richard and wife, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and her best companion Curly. Rosella worked as a housekeeper - nanny for Dr. and Mrs. E. Castiglia, Dr. Clare Castiglia and family, Mr. Robert and Susan Anderson and family. Rose loved to travel, play bingo and cards at the Princess Jeanne Senior Center where she had many friends. Thank you to Ambercare staff for their love and dignity especially Denise Sullivan, nurse and friend.
