ARMIJO -- ANGELINA ALARID A lifetime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 surrounded by her loved ones. Angie was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Ted Armijo. She is survived by her sons, Frank and his wife, Patricia and Ronald and his wife, Haleen; daughters, Regina Olivas and her husband, Ron and Roseann Hoisington. Angie's descendents consist of 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two on the way. Angie enjoyed her life as a wife, mother and grandmother. Angie was known for her patience, her love of the Lord, and being a kind, soft spoken woman who only had good things to say about others. She was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Community. ATENCIO -- LUIS LEANDRO Born February 27, 1925, passed on to eternal life on July 27, 2011. He was the founder of El Paragua/El Parasol Restaurants in Northern New Mexico. CASTILLO -- RICHARD FERNANDEZ JR. Age 51, passed away on July 24, 2011. Richard was born March 12, 1960 in Albuquerque, NM, the youngest child of Richard and Louisa Castillo. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Louisa Castillo; sister Darlene Tafoya; niece Joy Renee Oliva. Richard is survived by his son Richard Julian Castillo; siblings, Preciliano Tafoya, Dennis and wife Carol Tafoya, Prudencia and husband Vaughn Hefley, Johnny Leroy Tafoya, Genaro and wife Carla Tafoya, and Esther Robles. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, 9:00 a.m., at San Felipe De Neri Perish in Old Town. Interment will follow.

DODRILL -- GORDON JERVIS (JERRY) Age 72, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Dodrill; children and grandchildren, Leora Dodrill (Devin and Braden), Brad Dodrill and wife, Jennifer, Lorinda Haugen and husband, Darrell (Ashlee and Bridgette), Sally Preston (Kendall and Samantha), Kristen Preston, Joe Preston and wife, Gail (Tommy and Madeline), and Susan Williams and husband, Skip (Garrett, Caroline, Payton and Sydney); Jerry's sisters, Sandra DeGregorio and husband, Pat, Rebecca Sinclair and husband, Jim and Cynthia Simpkins; and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was welcomed into this world in Follansbee, WV by his parents, Lilith Jervis Dodrill and Gordon R. Dodrill. They moved to Pittsburgh, PA and later Canton, OH where Jerry spent his younger years. After serving in the Navy, Jerry received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Akron University and a master's degree from the University of New Mexico. His entire professional career was with Sandia National Laboratories, primarily in the satellite division. While at the Labs, he also developed tutorials and taught computer languages. A member of Hoffmantown Church, he taught various Bible classes for kids and adults. After retirement, Jerry enjoyed many happy days on the course with his golf buddies. During his last months at home, when dementia took his independence, Rich Smith was his companion for outings and lunch. The last days of his life he was lovingly cared for at The Retreat in Rio Rancho. ESPINOSA -- RUEBEN Age 76, of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011. He will rest in the Lord until Resurrection Morning. He was born in Maxwell and raised in Corrales, NM. He honorably served in the US Army. Rueben volunteered much of his time building churches in Greece, Mexico, and the United States. He was an active member of American Legion Post 13. Rueben is survived by Diane, his loving wife of 51 years; son Steve Espinosa and wife Terri; daughters Carol Little, Cindy Driscoll and husband David; grandchildren, Steve T., Nick, Andrew, Meghan, and Brigid; siblings, Joe, Clyde, Mary, William, Richard, and Arlene. MARTINEZ -- MARTIN F. ,Born in Dawson NM, July 29, 1921 and died July 17, 2011. We say farewell to yet another of "The Greatest Generation". Our beloved Pop-o, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-great-grandfather, in-law, and dear friend, was quietly called on to his eternal home. Preceding him to his eternal calling were parents, Felix V. Martinez and Bonifacia Martinez Y. Montez; sister Charlotte Tellez; brothers Mike E Martinez, Margarito Martinez, Gilbert C. Martinez; grandson Steve Martinez; granddaughter Patricia Lash. Martin (Pop-o), is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Corina; sons Martin A. Martinez, Michael F. Martinez and wife Wendy, Esteban Martinez and wife Carolyn; daughters Eloyda Batista, Rosella Quintana, Elinora Martinez; sisters Hermelinda (Linda ) and husband David Adams, Hortencia (Angel) and husband Martin Rivera, Ernestina Walker; brothers Froylan Martinez and wife Clara, Alfaro Martinez and wife Donna, Lionel Martinez, Arcelio Martinez and wife Yolanda. We will all miss his laughter, big heart, gentle bearing, and deep gravelly voice and detailed stories of kindness, humor, marvel, and mayhem. Martin was born in Dawson, NM and worked as a young man in the coal town's mines. He married Corina Martinez in 1941 before leaving Dawson to serve in the US army from 1944-1946. He participated in the long Pacific-Philippine Islands Campaign, as a military policeman. He was a gifted boxing enthusiast known for his devastating knockout punch, who captured several service championships in his weight class in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was awarded Pacific Campaign, Philippine Service, Military Police, Sharpshooters Badge and Self Defense Tab, National Defense, Good Conduct medals, was undefeated in all of his service boxing matches and was honorably discharged with the non-com rank of T-E 5 from the US Army. He returned to Dawson in 1946 to work in the coal mines where mining operations ceased in 1950. Moving his family to Santa Fe NM in 1946. He then worked in Santa Fe for ICX trucking until his retirement in 1974 where he resided until his earthly departure. Martin was active in his community of Santa Fe and was the Instituting Secretary of the Santa Fe Aries of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and served in many positions with the Aries. When his health permitted, he helped his son, Michael, part time at at Chief Mike's chainsaw and small engine repair shop, was an avid bowler and served as president and secretary of the Santa Fe Bowling Association several times. He was a lifetime VFW member and American Legion lifetime member, and had great love and respect for our nation and all of our veterans. He was one of seven of the eight boys of his immediate family that proudly served in the armed forces and one of the six of them who served simultaneously during WWII-Korea. We are proud and honored, and most of all blessed to have had such a kind, strong, and respectful man in our lives. He was always willing to help and had big shoulders to cry on, to lean on, to sigh on, and a hug to ease any fear or worry. His big powerful hands so gently held all his little and new family members, We all grew up witness to the power of his gentle heart as it touched all who grew to know and respect him. We will truly miss the quiet respect he lived by. We would also like to extend a special thank you and consideration to family members Elinora Martinez and other family members and friends for their contributions in Pop-o's time of need. MILLER -- HAYDOCK H. Jr. Died on July 22, 2011, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Cruse Miller, who passed on in November 2005. His son, Roy Bantz Miller lives in Farmington, NM. His two daughters both live in Spokane, WA. Daughter, Jacquelyn Miller Dibble-Robinson who lives with husband, Michael G. Robinson, and daughter, Carolyn Cruse Miller. The Robinsons have two daughters, Charnay D. Robinson and Angelique M. Robinson. His brother, Dr. Edward T. Miller, a famous geo-physicist, and his sister, Doris E. Miller, both pre-deceased him. Haydock graduated from the Englewood School for Boys in May 1943 and was drafted into the Army on August 1st. He was selected to attend OCS at the Engineers School at Ft. Belvoir, VA., from which he graduated in Oct. 1944 as a 2nd. Lt. He was assigned to the 220th Armored Engineers Bt. of the 20th Armored Div., which was preparing to ship to Europe. They landed at Rouen, France on Jan. 1st 1945. After being assigned as back-up troops for the Battle of the Bulge, they headed towards Munich, Germany. Haydock was one of the first to enter Dachau Concentration Camp. There was heavy fighting on northeast side of Munich where the Headquarters of SS Troops was located. After cession of hostilities, 1st Lt. Miller received his discharge from active duty and immediately started his classes in the Engineering School at Yale Univ. on July 1st, 1946. He and Nancy Cruse were married on November 15, 1946. He graduated with a Mechanical Engineers degree in May 1949. Miller joined Alcoa on August 1st and started work at the Edgewater Plant on the Hudson River in New Jersey, where he rose to Foil Plant Superintendent. In 1967, Miller was transferred to the New Kensington, PA. Operation and ran the Foil Plant there. In 1971 Haydock transferred to the Tennessee Operations as Manager of both Foil and Alcoa Wrap Plants. In 1976 the Millers were sent to Barking England for a year to help in getting the plant there running on a profitable basis, which he did in less than the allowed time. He then returned home to the Pittsburgh, PA office. After various assignments he rose to Manager of Organization Analysis. He took early retirement on January 1st, 1983, after 33 years with Alcoa. Since then he and Nancy moved to Santa Fe. Haydock has been active with several start-ups. He was a member of many service organizations. Haydock was a Charter Member of the S.F. del Sur ROTARY Club in 1984, and has been very active with the Rotary Youth Exchange Program and Camp RYLA. He will be greatly missed by his granddaughters and their parents, the visits by Poppy and Mor-Mor (their names for the grandparents) and the wonderful trips skiing and sight-seeing gave much depth, education and enjoyment to Haydock's extended family. He was always willing to share his experience, strength and hope with everyone he met and willing to put his muscles to work, as well as his mind, to help those in need. Thank you, Poppy. There will not be a funeral, but you can pay your respects at the Veteran's Cemetery in Santa Fe, where he is honored beside his wife, Nancy.

OPPERMAN -- FERN DELORES WOLCOTT Was born October 9, 1914 into a Christian family of Frederick Robinson Wolcott and Laura Mae Bradfield in Waterloo, IA. She had three sisters, Joy, Adaline, and Laura. At a young age, the family moved to Albuquerque for the health of her youngest sister. Fern eventually met and married Arthur Opperman, a preacher, from Kansas, on January 1, 1937. They were married for 64 years before his death in 2001. She had four children, daughter, Donna, sons, Robert and Larry, and daughter, Billie. Fern liked to talk about how romantic Arthur was, buying her beautiful cards and putting sweet love notes in them. Fern loved the Lord with all her heart. One of her favorite scriptures was "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". She was preceded in death by her sister, Laura at age 4; her son, Robert at age 5; husband, Arthur at age 87; and her two other sisters, Joy and Adaline in recent years. Fern is survived by her three children, Donna, Larry, and Billie; six grandchildren, Terri, Shelly, Gina, Eric, and Jennifer; and by eight great-grandchildren, Samantha, Brittanie, Noah, Joey, Ashton, Jaden, Carlee, and Greg. Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at French -University Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. PROVOOST -- WES WARD Age 48, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away suddenly doing what he loved to do on Saturday, July 23, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Denise J. Provoost; daughter, Caitlin Provoost; father, George A. Provoost; half-brother, Jake Provoost and wife, Peggy; niece, Tya Provoost; and great-nephew, Jadon Provoost; father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Irene Rivera; sister-in-law, Olivia DeSantis and husband, Tristan and brother-in-law, Vincent Rivera. Wes was preceded in death by his mother, Carole A. Provoost. Wes graduated from Highland High School. He was a longtime resident of the South East Heights. He worked for, and was part owner of Provoost Construction. He was a perfectionist at carpentry and plumbing in which several awards were attained. Wes was an avid hunter, camper, fisherman, motorcyclist and loved to bake and cook. She was preceded in death by her father, Stephen J. Saiz Sr.; brother, Stephen J. Saiz Jr. Stephanie is survived by her significant other, Phillip Gallegos; her daughter, Sheri Garza and husband AJ; grandson, Urijah Garza; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She worked for APS for 15 years. Stephanie adored her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed cooking, reading and listening to music. A Memorial Service will be conducted at Garcia Mortuary in the Chapel of Angles today, at 1:00 p.m., Inurnment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. SANCHEZ -- AURORA CORDOVA A servant of God, a dedicated daughter, a caring sister, a loving wife and a shepherding mother. She worked hard and persistently, to caring for her children - rising early, taking few breaks and when she laid her head down to rest, she slept like a woman whose work was done. Aurora died July 26, 2011, at 6:40 after a long journey with Alzheimer's. Her husband Jose Francisco and son Benjamin preceded her in death. She is survived by three sisters, eleven children: Antonio, Angelina, Agatha, Andres, Jeanette, Alicia, Bernardo, Maria, Carlos, Catharina, Cristobal and their spouses. She had twenty-five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who were blessed with her love. For each person, who met her, who listened to her, who spent time with her, they will remember her wisdom, her shiny eyes and her beautiful smiles. Please pray for her and her family. Services: Public Viewing on Sunday, July 31, 2011, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Berardinelli Funeral Home and Rosary at 7:30 pm at St. Anne's Church. SAVAGE -- JOSETTE MARIE Passed away Monday, July 18, 2011. Josette is survived by her husband, Ron, of forty-two years. She was born in Albuquerque on January 28, 1939. Josette attended St. Mary's, Albuquerque High and the University of New Mexico. She worked for Albuquerque National Bank/Sunwest Bank for thirty two years as a computer programer. Josette was part of the programing staff that installed the first computer for the bank in the 1960's, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, knitting and traveling in her motor home. STRAND -- JESSE Age 88, a resident of Bernalillo since 1975, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Jesse is survived by his children, Linda (Mel) Swaim, Lorrain (Jim) Lappin, Robert (Carla) Strand and David (Sherri) Strand; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta in 2004. Jesse served in the United States Air Force doing aerial photography. He was a geologist most of his life, as well as a carpenter, and was known for his love of the Lord, Christian ministry, and leading singing during worship. Jesse and Roberta held bible studies and led singing at Rio Rancho Nursing Home for 15 years. He had a love for photography and creating pictures with many types of media. Friends may visit French - Wyoming Chapel on Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. and Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in Santa Fe National Cemetery.
