SANCHEZ -- Mrs. Emma Candelaria Sanchez, 94, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 16, 2003 at home with her loving daughter, Mary Lou, at her side. Mrs. Sanchez is survived by three daughters, Emily Martinez and husband. Johnny, Rosie Serna and Mary Lou Saavedra and husband, Felix; five sons, Charles Sanchez and wife, Dolores, Willie Sanchez and wife, Josephine, Eusebio Sanchez Jr., Paul Sanchez and wife, Patricia, Johnny Sanchez and wife, Sandra; one brother, Epifanio Candelaria; 37 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; special niece, Frances Gonzales; Special granddaughter, Evelyn Costales; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Sanchez was preceded in death by her husband, Eusebio Sanchez Sr.; her daughter, Lucy Tafoya; her grandsons, Willie Sanchez Jr. and Victor Anaya; and her son in law, Eloy Serna. Mrs. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart League, a pioneer of the San Jose Community, was an avid bingo player and had a great sense of humor. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway SE with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Herman Flores. Final visitation will be Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at the Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Sanchez, Anthony Brown, Brandon Sanchez, Jake Saavedra, Michael Sanchez and Pete Costales. Honorary pallbearers will be Evelyn Costales, Paulette Dugas, Tisha Friesen, Loretta Martinez, Janice Martinez, Sarah Ruiz, Carolyne Tomlin, Emma Kotibi and Angel Saavedra. ABEYTA -- Lucio Abeyta, age 87, passed away September 4, 2003 at the Albuquerque Regional Medical Center following an illness. Lucio was born April 1, 1916 in Puerto De Luna, NM to the home of Espedidon and Isabel Duran Abeyta. He married Arcelia Flores in December 1938. Lucio worked construction as a carpenter. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the San Jose Society. Lucio is preceded in death by his parents, his son Chio Abeyta, his sister Juanita Abeyta, his brothers Pedro Abeyta, Abelino Abeyta, Eduardo Abeyta, Thomas Abeyta and Emilio Abeyta. Survivors include his wife Arcelia of the family home in Santa Rosa, his children Margie Abeyta, Frances Lopez, Josie Pacheco and husband Orlando, Helen Abeyta, Mary Rose Abeyta and Herman Abeyta and wife Violet all of Santa Rosa and his sister Josefa Madrid and husband Blas of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Sunday evening at 7:00 from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church in Puerto De Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 also from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Nueatra Senora de Refugio Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will be Shawn Lopez, Raul Lopez, Joseph Abeyta Esquibel, Gabriel Abeyta Esquibel, Issac Abeyta and Paul Pacheco. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of his grandchildren, Victor Flores, Filomeno Flores, Benny Flores and Blas Madrid. Baca -- Edward"Eddie" Baca, 47, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away at home on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He worked for the Los Lunas Public Schools for seven years retiring in 2001 due to illness. He loved the outdoors and went camping and fishing whenever he could. He was known for building miniature adobe houses and churches, with each little adobe made by hand. He was an artist who never sold his work, but gave all of his miniature artwork away to family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Baca; his brother, Robert Baca and his grandmother, Grandma Frances. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Lou of the family home in Belen; his four children, Vincent Paul Flores of Olympia, WA, Ray Flores of Belen, Yvonne Aragon of Los Lunas, NM, and Beverly Rose Baca of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; his parents, Manuel and Josephine Baca of Los Lentes, NM; two brothers, Manuel and Steve Baca both of Los Lentes; his sister, Liz Otero and her husband, Tony of Los Lunas; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Fedelina Chavez; three brother-in-laws, Delfin Chavez and his wife, Lorraine; Arthur Chavez; and Pete Chavez and his wife, Mary; three sister-in-laws, Evelyn Silva and her husband, Tony, Sally Tafoya and her husband, Victor, and Melva Holly. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews. A rosary will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Father David Gallegos officiating. Rojas -- Sheriff Louis G. Rojas, Sr., age 89, of Los Alamos, died on the 16th of April. Born to Luis and Guadalupe Rojas, in East Texas, in l914, he was the eldest of six children raised in Beaumont, TX; He became one of the first Hispanic ironworkers in the United States. He married Patricia Mendiola, of Houston in 1942, in Oak Ridge, TN; where he worked on construction related to the Manhattan Project."Patsy" and Louis moved to New Mexico in 1947, where Louis began a long career as a rigger at the National Laboratory. Louis and Pat raised six children in Los Alamos; Louis became active in Democratic politics in the l950s, and held the office of County Sheriff for 34 years. He was particularly proud of being President John Kennedy's escort during his Los Alamos visit in l962. He was recently honored at state and national conventions for his 65 years of membership in the ironworkers union. In 2002 he was honored as one of Los Alamos Living Treasures. Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mendiola Rojas; his brother, Charlie Rojas; and his sister, Lucia Flores, of Texas. He is survived by his children, Luis Rojas, Jr., of Santa Fe, Ricardo Rojas and his wife, Mary, of Boulder, CO, Thomas Rojas, of Albuquerque, Christy Rojas-Foster and her husband, George, of Del Mar, CA; Consuelo Rojas, of Los Alamos; and Joseph Rojas, Santa Fe. He has three grandchildren, Enrique, Jess and Nell Rojas, of Boulder. His surviving siblings are Frank, Jess and Anthony Rojas, all of Beaumont. Louis and Patsy nurtured many friends, neighbors, compadres and God-children through their years in Northern New Mexico. Together they contributed greatly to the community life of Los Alamos, and always felt deeply privileged to have the opportunity to raise their family among such loving friends. Louis, like Patsy, will be very warmly remembered. Friends are encouraged to memorialize"The Sheriff" through contributions to the Louis and Patricia Rojas Scholarship Fund, at the University of New Mexico College of Education, Albuquerque, NM Scholarship awards will be for Los Alamos High School Graduates attending UNM. Visitation will begin on Thursday, April 24, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, NM. Interment will follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery. Padilla -- Elfido Padilla, 74, a lifetime resident of Abo, NM, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2003 at his home in Abo. He was born February 22, 1929 to Eulalio Padilla and Venendria (Isquebel) Padilla in Abo, NM., he married his wife of 53 years August 6, 1951 in Mountainair. He is survived by his wife, Armelina Padilla; and their children, sons, Mike Padilla of Mountainair, NM, Gabriel and his wife, Yolanda Padilla of Bosque Farms, NM; daughter, Mary Baca of Mountainair, NM; brothers, Fedil Padilla, Ernesto Padilla; sisters, Lenor Flores, Antinia Sisneros, Lilly Flores, Avrelia Sisneros; he also had 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Elfido was a member of the San Lorenzo Catholic church in Abo. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend he will be missed by those who knew and loved him. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, February 25, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at Saint Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair. A Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 26, 2003, 11:00 a.m. also at Saint Alice Catholic Church with Father Florian Renaud officiating. Flores -- Ernesto Flores, 99, a longtime resident of Deming died in Palo Alto, California on January 1, 2003 at Lytton Gardens Health Care Center. Memorial Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Deming, 1020 South Granite Street, Deming, NM on Saturday January 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon with Reverend David Okerberg, Pastor officiating. Mr. Flores was born in Garfield, New Mexico on December 19, 1903 and resided in Deming most all his life. The son of an ordained Methodist minister, he began his business life in Deming at the age of 12 shining shoes. In 1928 he went into business for himself at the Park News and Confectionery Store. He then clerked in Deming's department stores. After World War II, he purchased the Donaldson Store and became active in local and state civic matters. In addition to his active participation in local civic organizations, his achievements include eight years on the Deming City Council, founding president of the Deming LULAC Council, and being appointed in 1961 by President Kennedy as the Collector of Customs at the port of Columbus. Ernesto is survived by a daughter, Amelia Hill of El Paso, Texas; a son, Richard Flores and his wife, Nancy of Palo Alto, CA; four grandchildren are Ernest Hill and his wife, Aniko of Austin, TX, Rodney Hill of El Paso, TX, Diane Clayton and her husband, Steve of Burbank, CA, and Stephen Flores and his wife, Patricia of Atlanta, GA; six great-grandchildren are Dillon, Rafael, and Yoel Hill, and Mary, Andrew, and Cara Clayton. Busich -- Margaret"Marge" Busich, 74, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 12, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John R. Busich of Albuquerque; daughters, Barbara Flores of Alameda, NM, Julie Averna and husband, Conrad of Allen, TX; son, Matt Busich and wife, Kim of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Joe Rader and wife, Ardelle of Fresno, CA and John C. Radosevich and wife, Dorothy of Monee, IL. Mrs. Busich was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. She was retired from Presbyterian Hospital Services. Gallegos -- Rose A. Gallegos, 85, went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2002. She was born on December 9, 1916 in La Gartita, CO. She is preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert Torrez; and sister, Victoria Rodriguez. Rose is survived by her children, Esther Flores and husband, Meliton of Albuquerque, Mary Louise Gallegos of Albuquerque, Glenda Figueroa and Ruben of South Carolina and Orlando Gallegos of Colorado; sisters and bothers, Pauline Gutierrez and Daniel, Mable Lujan and Joe, Molly Renner and Lee Torrez; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Rose will be deeply missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited by Caroline Mora on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Edwin Catholic Church. Interment will follow a the Pajarito Cemetery. Trujillo -- Daniel N. Trujillo, 89, a longtime Brush, CO area resident, died Saturday, November 16, 2002, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, CO. He was born October 3, 1913, in Ranchos de Taos, NM, to Celso and Josefina Trujillo. He married Andrea Montoya on May 7, 1938, in Las Vegas, NM. The Trujillo family moved to Brush, CO in 1942. Prior to retirement, Dan was a long haul trucking transportation driver. An avid gardener, Dan's vegetable garden was the envy of the neighborhood. Dan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and AARP Survivors include his wife, Andrea of Brush, CO; his children, Placido and his wife, Juanita Romero of Brush, CO, Steve and his wife, Marie Romero of Colorado Springs, Rose Salinas of Fort Lupton, Helen and her husband, Larry Romero of Denver, CO, Ray and his wife, Cheryl Trujillo of Lakewood, CO, Mary Lou and her husband, Tom Trujillo-Flores of Brush, NM, Anthony and his wife, Rosi Trujillo of Brush, CO and Daniel and his wife, Beatrice Trujillo of Papillion, NE; 30 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren; one daughter, Donna; one sister; and his parents preceded him in death. Padilla -- Orlando Padilla, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away November 14, 2002. He was the second of five children born to Solomon and Ida S. Padilla on February 14, 1924. Waiting with open arms to greet him at heaven's gate, along with our Lord, will be his parents, Solomon and Ida; and his only son, Orlando Jr. Orlando was a retired home builder and built many homes in Albuquerque and Bernalillo. He served in the US Army and was a Veteran of WWII, having served in Africa and Italy. Orlando is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Apodaca Padilla; brothers, Leo and wife, Mary Padilla and family, Willie and wife, Terry Padilla and family all of Albuquerque, Solomon Padilla Jr. of Santa Fe; sister, Mary Lou Gomez and family; brother-in-law, Richard and wife, Lena Apodaca and family; sisters-in-law, Viola Jackson and husband, Scottie and family of Whittier, CA., Lucille Flores and Grace Andre and family of Albuquerque; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will miss him greatly; special nephews, James Edwards and Leon Padilla; nieces, Cathy Roland and Arella Brenning. At the request of Orlando, cremation has taken place. Graveside Services will be held at Mt.
