Wakefield -- M. Elaine Wakefield, 72, a resident of Albuquerque for 19 years, died Monday, January 31, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Walker and husband, Bill; son, George"Tom" Wakefield and wife, Mardie, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Alicia Sandoval and husband, Mike, Melissa Walker, Ryan Wakefield, Kaitlyn Wakefield and Kelsey Wakefield; great-grandchildren, Austin and Shelby. She was preceded in death by her grandson, David Walker, whom she so looked forward to seeing on the other side to give him a grandmother's hug; sister, Barbara Blanchard; and infant daughter, Shirley Wakefield. Mrs. Wakefield worked at the Maine Medical Center for 25 years before moving to Albuquerque where she worked at the UNM Hospital Cancer Research Center. Elaine was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Memorial Services will be held Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Encino House - East, 412 Alvarado SE, with Rev. Winfred Walker officiating. Wanner -- Donald E. Wanner, II, 44, beloved son of Jean E. Wanner and the late Donald E. Wanner, died Saturday, January 29, 2000. He is survived by his sister, Nancy E. Wanner of Placitas; brother, David E. Wanner; sister-in-law, Cheryl A. Wanner; nephew, D. J. Wanne, and niece, Nicole A. Wanner, all of Cincinnati, OH. Donald was a graduate of Highland High School and the University of New Mexico where he studied mathematics and statistics. He will be greatly missed. Goldenberg -- Becky Goldenberg passed away in her sleep at home on January 26, 2000. She was preceded in death by her sons, Murray and Dr. Jeremy Goldenberg and by her beloved husband of 75 years, Max. Becky was born in Russia and came to the United States with Max in the early 1920's. They settled and had their family in New York. She was a talented specialty seamstress/designer, as well as an accomplished and meticulous homemaker."Beebe" and Max came to Albuquerque 20 years ago to be with their daughters. She will be missed by her sister, Rae Hersh and husband, William of New York; by her devoted daughters, Diana Malott and husband, Irving and Helene Hausner and husband, Jerry, all of Albuquerque; by her loving grandchildren, Dr. Joyce Graber and husband, David of New York, Alan Malott and wife, Linda and Bruce Malott and wife, Trisha, all of Albuquerque; and by her seven great-grandchildren, Melanie, Joshua and Jessica Graber, all of New York and Brian, Daniel, Lauren and Jillien Malott, all of Albuquerque. Her quiet strength, creativity, and talents; her intelligent and dry wit; her commitment to our family and her awesome cooking will be remembered with love by us all, forever. Services and burial took place on January 30, 2000 in New York. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask donations be made to any charitable organization. Scott -- Patty Sue Scott, a loving wife, devoted mother and proud grandmother, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 30, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Patty, a resident of Albuquerque for 17 years, was born and raised in Dearborn, MI and graduated from Michigan State University. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, David W. Scott; daughters, Cristy Nowak and husband, Philip of Bremerton, WA and Sandra Scott of Austin, TX; son, Kenneth Scott of Key West, FL; grandchildren, Sam, Elizabeth and Andrew Nowak, all of Bremerton, WA; sisters, Sandra Butler and husband, William of Albuquerque, Sheryl Whiteford and husband, Fred of Wildwood, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Forrest and Vilroe McGuigan. Patty was an Air Force wife who put her family first and foremost by providing a comfortable, loving home and nurturing care while meeting the challenge of 16 moves in 21 years. She held numerous positions in Officer's Wives Clubs and other volunteer organizations in addition to being a supportive wife during her husband's military and civilian career. When the children left home, she began a working career and following her mother's death, dedicated her life to the aging issues through various professional and volunteer organizations. Patty completed many Master level courses on aging at UNM and earned a Nursing Home Administration license. She was dedicated to her work as Director of Resident Services at The Montebello on Academy and as the President of the Alzheimer's Association, NM Chapter. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and those whose lives the touched. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Rev. Allen W. McCallum and Chaplain Lemuel Boyles, Col (Ret), USAF officiating. Private interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Thomas -- Mr. David W. Thomas, 70, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 31, 2000. Mr. Thomas was the beloved husband of eight years to Rose Thomas. He is also survived by one son, Robert Thomas; two daughters, Bonnie Padilla and husband, Paul and Karen Rojo and husband, Roy; three step-children, Sister Mary Pia, Liz and Arthur Ulibarri; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Fina, Lupe and Virginia; a brother, Ray Hernandez and wife, Theresa; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Irene Luna. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his previous wife, the mother of his children, Dorothy Vigil; his son, David Thomas; his brothers, Frank, Salvador and Joe. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with visitation after 8:00 p.m. a second Rosary will be recited Wednesday morning, 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 333 58th NW. Requim Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church with visitation at the church after 9:00 a.m. Father Bibeau, Celebrant. Trujillo -- John J. Trujillo Sr. passed away on January 30, 2000 and went home to with our Lord, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Trujillo was the beloved husband of 30 years to Mrs. Delia Trujillo. He is also survived by his daughters, Helen Chavez and husband, Larry, Bernice C. Trujillo, Betty Ann Roybal, Katie Perales and husband, Al; sons, Larry Trujillo, John Trujillo Jr., David Trujillo and wife, Nancy, Martia Jones, Manuel Jones and wife, Barbara, Steve Jones and wife, Kathy; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Felix Trujillo and wife, Mary, Joe Trujillo and wife, Lucy, Arturo Cordova and wife, Linda; one sister, Lydia Mathews; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Trujillo was a member of the Catholic Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII, a member of WWII Memorial, and a volunteer at the Los Volcanos Senior Center. He was a Purple Heart recipient. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with visitation after 5:30 p.m. Gabriella Nieto reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, 10:30 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW, with viewing at the church after 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Kudo -- With his family at his side, Dr. Albert M."Bert" Kudo peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Marge Kudo of the family home; daughter, Alyssa K. Nunez and husband, David and their daughter, Casia and second child expected in August, daughter, Shana L. Buckley and husband, Brian and their daughter, Mikayla; sister, Mae Arima of Seattle, WA; brothers, George Akira Kudo and wife, Mary of Washington and Minoru Kudo and wife, Judy of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Kudo is also survived by his thousands of students whom he dearly loved and who remember him for his kindness, sense of humor and love for life. Dr. Kudo received a Bachelor's of applied Science degree with first class honors from the University of Toronto in 1960. He received a Masters of Science degree in geology from McMaster University in 1962 and a PhD degree in Earth Sciences from the University of California in 1967. Dr. Kudo was a beloved professor in the University of New Mexico's Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences for 33 years. With his unique, humor-filled teaching method, Bert introduced thousands of UNM undergraduates to geology in his introductory course. His research of volcanoes and igneous rocks took him all over the world and he authored over 100 articles and abstracts. Bert was a member of the Geological Society of American, the American Geophysical Union, and the Geochemical Society. He was also a member of the Advisory Council for the Northwest Regional Science Fair and served as Master Judge Chair. Upon Dr. Kudo's retirement in the fall of 1999, Albuquerque's mayor, Jim Baca, proclaimed Friday, December 3, 1999, as professor Albert M. Kudo Day. He was an avid runner, active in many sports, and loved the outdoors. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna NE, with Pastor Marsh Shamburger officiating. Counterman -- Frances Lee Counterman, 90, a resident of Rio Rancho, went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2000. She was born in 1909 in Middletown, Kansas. Frances married Roy Counterman in Fredonia, Kansas in 1934, and lived in Independence, KS until moving to Salida, CO in 1956. Her husband, Roy, preceded her in death in 1960. In Salida, Frances worked at Salida Hospital and was very active in St. Joseph's Catholic Parish and participated in several ecumenical groups. Following three years living near relatives in Fredonia, Frances moved to Rio Rancho in 1994 and soon became involved in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Frances will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Betty Drobnick and her husband, Will of Rio Rancho and Patti Wright and her husband, Jim of Hutchinson, KS. Frances took pride in her four granddaughters and their families, Deborah and Neil Farnholtz, and sons, Jordan and Jaxson of Rio Rancho, Rebecca and David Baker, and daughters, Antonia and Jessen of Craig, CO, Nathania and Jim Hinkle, and son, Tyler of Pensacola, FL, and Sarah and Brian Lewis of Denver, CO. Frances was also a caring step-grandmother of John, Karen, Kevin, Michelle and Kenneth Wright. Glendoria Brindle and Glossie Short of Fredonia, KS are her surviving sisters. The visitation will take place today, Sunday, January 30, 2000, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the Rosary being prayed and memories shared at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Monday, January 31, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. Frances will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Salida, CO on Thursday following a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Throughout her life, Frances was a prayer warrior and a caring minister to the poor and those in need. Enns -- Karl C. Enns, 94, born in Inman, Kansas on October 9, 1905 to Dick and Millicent Enns, died Wednesday, January 26, 2000. Mr. Enns moved to Albuquerque in 1950. He is survived by his wife, Nettie Darrah whom he married on June 20, 1930; his son, Jack D. Enns and wife, Katherine of Albuquerque; daughter, Janet E. Alexander and husband, Dick of Holbrook, AZ; six grandchildren, Karl David Enns, Beth Enns, Joyce Selfridge, all of Albuquerque, Ted Alexander of Phoenix, Douglas Alexander of Tempe, AZ and Scott Alexander of Phoenix, AZ; and five great-grandchildren, Johannah Alexander of Tempe, AZ, Charlotte Selfridge, Naomi Selfridge, Julie Selfridge and Dustin Enns, all of Albuquerque. Mr. Enns was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Margaret Klassen and Luty Lee White. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Karl was a salesman. Mr. Enns worked at Chief Pontiac, and Quality Pontiac and was also a broker in the real estate business, until he retired in 1969. He loved sports and participated in them in the Inman schools and at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Mr. Enns was an avid Lobo fan for 50 years.
