Baca -- Mr. Ignacio P."Nacho" Baca, 83, a resident of Pena Blanca, NM, passed away on April 18, 1998. Mr. Baca is survived by four daughters, Anita Cordova, Diane Baca, Lena Hodges and husband, Kena, and Marcella Baca; one son, Mel Baca; three sisters, Dora West, Josefita"Pepa" Leyba, and Mary Baca; one brother, David Baca and wife, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Baca was preceded in death by two wives, Antonia Baca and Epifana Baca; two sons, Armando and Billy; four brothers, Richard, Trvino, Jose and Roman; and one sister, Melinda. Mr. Baca was a member of the Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and a recipient of the Silver Star Medal. He was a Sergeant in Company C. Infantry Regiment, for Galliantry in Action on August 16, 1944, near St. Mygulf, France. Supported by a tank, Sergeant Baca led his squad against an enemy pillbox whose 88MM gun and automatic weapons fire had slowed his company's advance. Although the tank was disabled by an enemy mine and Sergeant Baca was painfully wounded in both hands, he led his men forward in an aggressive assault on the strong point, which he reduced with a grenade and rocket fire. Sergeant Baca's galliant and resourceful conduct enabled his company to continue the attack and reflects credit on himself and his organization. Entered Military service from Pena Blanca, NM. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Pena Blanca with Charles Aguilar reciting. Visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with visitation at the church after 9:30 a.m. Father Hiliare Valiquette, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:00 noon. Pallbearers will be Matthew Cordova, David Sandoval, Ken Hodges, Sam Sandoval, Oliver Garcia and David Baca. Tafoya -- Edmundo (Moonie) S. Tafoya, 64 years young, born February 18, 1934 in Tafoya, NM, passed away on April 17, 1998. He graduated from Farley High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1956, stationed in Germany. He worked as a bartender in Denver, CO and retired from Peterson Paint Co. in Pueblo, CO. Upon retirement in 1991, he moved to Albuquerque. Moonie was very young at heart, a poet, creative writer, and toy collector. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends and neighbors. He is survived by his sisters, Delia Cordova, Ruth Gonzales and husband, John, Eloisa Martinez and Eulalia Medina and husband, Miguel; brothers, Eladio Tafoya and wife, Stella, Tito Tafoya and wife, Maryann, and Alex Tafoya. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 1998 at St. Jude Thaddeus Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, Albuquerque, NM. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Burial arrangements by Direct Services, 4501 4th St. NW, 343-8008.

Baldino -- Sally Esther Baldino, 86, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 22 years, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 1998. Sally was born January 29, 1912, the daughter of Francis E. and Sadie E. Alvord Wolfgang in Halifax, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. She came to New Mexico from New Jersey. Sally was preceded in death by her husband, James Eugene Baldino in 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Ann Taylor and her husband, Lynn Edward; grandchildren, James A. Yeager and Sherrie Ann Cordova; one great-grandson, Dakota James Yeager. The visitation for Sally will be held today, Tuesday, March 31, 1998 in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Martin Capehart officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to benefit the Hospice Patient Care Fund. Haverty -- Jess Haverty, 98, a resident of Albuquerque, died March 25, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Virgie (Peggy) Haverty, married in 1938; step-son, James L. (Jim) Williams and his wife, Marilyn, all of Albuquerque; and grandchildren on Peggy's side, Debra Benes and her three children, Jill, Ryan and Karolyn, living in Mission Viejo, CA, Mark Williams and his son, Tyler, living in Bellevue, WA. Jess was born on June 20, 1899 at the Albemarle Mining Camp (now extinct) about three miles north of the ghost town of Bland, NM, northwest of the well-known Dixon Apple Orchard. He spent most of his early life in Las Vegas, NM. He went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad when he was 15 years old as a telegraph operator. Later he went into the retail and wholesale business of oil and gasoline products. In the 20's and 30's he had a popular dance band. In 1927 he became a member of Chapman Masonic Lodge No. 2 and recently received his 70 year Masonic pin. In 1943 he returned to work for the railroad and transferred from Las Vegas to Albuquerque in 1945 where he later retired for the railroad. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family and friends. Until recently he was an active member of the First Christian Church. Services will be held at First Christian Church, 10101 Montgomery NE, on Friday, March 27, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. with Deacon Art Cordova officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Special thanks to the staff and support staff at Paloma Blanca Health and Rehabilitation Center. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association. Sena -- Marie L. Sena (Lillie), 84, born in Lemitar, NM, and has been a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, March 20, 1998. Lillie has gone to join her beloved husband, Joe J. Sena and her family and friends in Heaven. Lillie is survived by her sister, Ernestine Lynde of Albuquerque; her niece, Lynda Comitz; great-niece, Michelle Comitz; great-nephews, Joshua Comitz, Jason Comitz, Chanse McCoy; and great-great-nephew, Dominic Vargas, all of Albuquerque; along with many other nephews and nieces. Mass will be held today, 9:00 a.m., at San Ignacio Catholic Church. Pallbearers are Joshua Comitz, Chanse McCoy, Danny Lugo, Joe Cordova, Joe Vigil, and Roberto Mondragon. Gonzales -- Robert Victor Gonzales, born March 26, 1973, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, lost his courageous battle with cancer at Baylor Hospital on March 14, surrounded by is mom, sister and favorite nurses on 6 Roberts. Victor was a change management consultant in the Dallas office of Andersen Consulting. Vic graduated in 1991 with honors from Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, where he served as student body president and homecoming king. He graduated with honors from SMU in 1995. Vic was a Herkimer scholar and was active in many activities, including first year council, Mustang Link, and was a residence man advisor. Also, Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, CHAS, Golden Key National Honor Society, and Mortar Board. He worked as an intern at the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marlin Victor Griggs of Garland. Vic is survived by his mother, Virginia Griggs; and sister, Stephanie Gonzales of Allen; his beloved dog, Snoopy; grandmother, Julia Griggs of Garland; aunt, Andrea Hanna; and cousin, Amy; Godson, Maxwell Hansen of Columbus, OH; aunt, Norma Cassity of New Boston, TX; father, Ronald Gonzales of Atlanta, GA; and his namesake, Lily Victoria Cordova of Albuquerque. Victor appreciated all the help and love from his friends at Andersen Consulting and SMU. Special thanks to Dr. Wynne Snoots, Dr. Robert Mennel, Mady, Deborah, and all the staff on Baylor 6 Roberts. Armenta -- Ms. Rosalie"Rosie" Armenta, age 36, died Friday. She is survived by her children, Jessica Armenta, Melissa Armenta, Jesus Armenta, Mia McKinstry and baby Mariah McKinstry; two granddaughters, Jaylyn and Angelica; mother, Carmen Atencio; brothers, Charlie Atencio, Edward Atencio, Teddy Atencio, and Ernest Atencio; sisters, Josie Lucero, Lucy Sedillo and Shirley Hines; several nieces and nephews; and friend, Ron McKinstry. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward"Hiko" Atencio. Funeral services for Ms. Armenta will be held on Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe, where Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
