ARAGON, AURELIA "ABBY" Aurelia Aragon (Abby) born October 22, 1926, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, September 9, 2013. She passed peacefully while surrounded by her loving family and leaves behind a devoted brother Manuel Aragon and special friend Mabel Bustos. Also, nieces and nephews Olivia Archibeque, Emily Montes, Mel and Charles David Aragon, Michael, Charles and Rudy Aragon, Vincent and Larry Cordova and numerous other relatives and friends. She was born in Mountainair, NM and was preceded in death by her parents Quirino and Antonia Aragon; sisters Theresa Aragon and Carmen Cordova. She worked all her life and retired from General Electric. She showed tremendous courage and Christian spirit throughout her illness and never lost her faith in Jesus Christ. Aurelia had a kind heart and was extremely generous. Her passion was cooking for her family and those who were ill and was known for the best green chili in Albuquerque. She always shared her time and talent with others. Aurelia was a true gift from God and an angel to her family. Her laughter and loving spirit touched all those around her. She will be deeply missed. We love you with all our hearts dear sister, aunt and friend. A Christian memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2013, at Garcia Chapel of Angles. CORDOVA, THOMAS "TOMMY" A resident of Ensenada, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Cordova. Mr. Cordova was retired Major from the Rio Arriba Sheriff's Office. Mr. Cordova is survived by his wife, Olivia Jane Cordova; children, Tom "Ty" Cordova, Tamara Cordova, James Cordova, Mary Jane Cordova and Modesta Cordova and husband Jack; grandsons, James A. Cordova and wife Antoinette, Ricardo Cordova and wife Andrea, Sam Cordova, Carlos Cordova and Lennon Deleon; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. also at the San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos. Burial to follow at the Ensenada Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, James A., Ricardo, Sam and Carlos Cordova, Adam Maestas and Donald Valdez. SIMMONS, ALICE Age 75, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, was born on July 12, 1938 in Roy, NM. Alice went to meet our Lord and Savior on September 4, 2013 after a short illness. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Simmons. She is survived by her five children, Rocky Clark and wife LeAnne, Michelle Marquez and husband Gene, Wade Clark, Gail Simmons and partner Chuck, and Sylvia Gallegos and husband Carlos. Alice was the proud grandmother of Amanda and Garrett Clark, Candice Clark and Matt Cordova, Rebecca Clark, "Ray Ray" Gallegos, Sonya Gallegos, Gabriella (Gaby) Gallegos, Tanner Walton, and Jeff and Melisa Marquez. She was also very proud of her great-grandchildren, Nicolas Cordova, Kylie Cordova, Gabriella Hernandez and Jo'el Marquez. TORREZ, MANUEL PETE 10/14/53 - 7/30/13 Manuel Pete Torrez, 59, of Owensboro, KY passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in Evansville, IN. He was born in Santa Rita, NM to the late Ascencion Q. and Grace S. Torrez. He is survived by his wife Cindy Bruner-Torrez; four children Angela (Jeff) Bammel, Macomb, MI, Crissy Sexton, Amanda (Chad) Graves and Manuel Jr (Jessica) Torrez, all of Owensboro, KY.; his five siblings, Shirley (Manuel) Trujillo, Tijeras, Eva (Joe) Garcia, Bernalillo, Gilbert (Donna) Torrez, Belen, Elizabeth (Robert) Cordova, Albuquerque, and Michael (Karen) Torrez, Tijeras, all of NM. Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. Following Mass, a gathering of friends and family will be held at Elizabeths' and Roberts home at 9408 Reba Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM. Interment of his ashes at the Santa Fe National Cemetery will be done at a later date.

JARAMILLO-HOVEY, ELMER "SONNY" Age 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, August 26, 2013, while surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM and a member of the Catholic Community. He fondly known by many as "Sonny". Elmer enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Las Vegas, NV; he was the family jokester, and loved spending quality time with his grandkids who he loved so much. Elmer was a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served his country during the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne Ranger; while serving in Vietnam he was Prisoner of War for 17 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lydia Jaramillo and Ben Hovey; brother, Orlando Jaramillo and wife Yvonne; and sister, Frances Sanchez. Elmer is survived by wife of 41 years, Jeannette Jaramillo; his children, Carl Loy, Ted Jaramillo and Amy Chavez, Angela Jaramillo and Joey Nassar; his precious grandchildren, Michael Ortiz, D'Angelo Jaramillo, Alyssa Jaramillo and Kareem Nassar; sisters, Patricia Cordova and spouse Eddie, and Ruth; and other numerous relatives and friends. CORDOVA, ROBERTO L. Age 80, of Rio Rancho, died Friday, July 26, 2013. If heaven could possibly be better, it is now. The Lord now has a great man by His side and without a doubt, will have His ear talked off. We have lost a great friend, and this world will never be the same without him. He is greeted by his son, Jaimie; mother and father; sister, Elsie; brother, Steve; cousin, Ross Anderson; and too many other friends and relatives to mention. He leaves behind Jennie, his loving wife of nearly 58 years; his daughter, Valerie; sons, Randy and Chuck; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He'll be missed so much. SANCHEZ, NORA A. Nora A. Sanchez, age 92, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Refugio "Ray" Sanchez Jr. In 1983; her loving son, Ray Robert Sanchez in 2003; parents, Epifano and Elena Armijo; in-laws, Refugio Sr. and Agatha Sanchez; siblings, Fernando Armijo and wife, Cecilia, Rumaldo Armijo, Richard Armijo, Frances Silva and Nancy Maron; brothers-in-law, Daniel Sanchez and Samuel Sanchez; nieces, Jeanette Welch and Louise Durand; nephews, Chris Armijo and Gabriel Armijo and many extended family members and friends. Nora is survived by her daughters, Linda Valdez and husband, Geno, Rita Cordova and husband, Joe from San Diego, and Judy Sanchez-Torres; her grandchildren, Christine Martinez, Elaine Martinez, Albert Martinez Jr. and wife, Jessica, Matthew Martinez and wife, Jessica, Adrian Cordova and wife, Sasha from San Diego, and Patrick Ray Torres; great-grandchildren, Alysia Martinez, Nicole Pinge, Albert "Berto" Martinez III, Angelique Martinez, Gabrielle Martinez and Makala Martinez; sisters, Viola Durand and Esther Chavez and husband, Roy of Tucson; sisters-in-law, Victoria Armijo, Mary Armijo and Janice Sanchez of San Diego; brother-in-law, Jose "Joe" Silva and many nieces, nephews, God children, extended family members and friends . Nora spent her entire life being an inspiration, example and mentor to her family. Nephews and nieces would seek advice from her and would lean on her big shoulders in times of need. Originally born in the community of Los Griegos, the Armijo family moved to south Broadway one block from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where the family worshipped. She went to Albuquerque High School after which she worked Downtown in finance and JC Penny. She and her sister, Frances loved to dance and loved to attend the Old Town dances with their mother as chaperone. In 1948 Nora and Ray married and bought their first home on Mountain Road where their first two children were born. They then moved to a new house on Manzano Street which to this day is still the family home. She was a wonderful cook and passed her talent on to her daughters. Christmas was special and full of New Mexico flavors of posole, chile colorado, chile con queso, biscochitos, empanadas, and old school chile rellanos, friends and family on Christmas Eve. As a devoted wife she loved and took care of Ray for 20 years who was ill with Parkinson Disease. She was with him faithfully till the day he died. She lost her only son on 2003 at the age of 47 and lost the twinkle in her eyes and suffered from a broken heart until her passing. She was a devout Catholic and was active in Our Lady of Fatima's Woman's Guild, even serving as President for one year. Her entire life was devoted to serving the Lord and being there for her children and grandchildren. We would like to extend our deep gratitude to St. Catherine's Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and The Hospice of the Sandias for their respect and kindness they showed Nora and her family.
