BLACK -- James Doran Black, born January 5, 1980, graduated from Cibola High School in Albuquerque in 1998 and enthusiastically began working as an apprentice electrician in 2000. He then, with great aspiration, completed his four year apprenticeship program and became a journeyman electrician in 2004. James had a brave and optimistic outlook on life. He also had great deal of consideration and respect for every living being around him. With his humor and charm this spirited young man made his way into everyone's heart. On August 15, 2004 James suffered a massive heart attack and died. He is survived by: his wife, Angela Black; her two children, Calvin and Andrew; his mother, Veda Goslar; his identical twin brother, Patrick Black; his older brother, Ronald Zaitz; his sister in-law, Jennifer Zaitz; his sister, Kiley Black; as well as his father, Glen Black. Memorial Services will be held on Friday Aug 20, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Free Church 900 Southern Blvd, NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124

CAUGHRAN -- James Virgil Caughran, aged, 84, passed away August 17, 2004. He was born October 25, 1919 to Harry Lonzo and Wannie Belle Caughran in Grady, New Mexico. He married his first grade sweetheart Elsie Faith Bliss, June 29, 1941. They moved to Dove Creek, CO in the mid 1940s where he farmed and ran an LP Gas business. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in the mid 1950s and lived here for over 45 years. He was a successful real estate businessman and was the prime developer of Elephant Butte Estates. He loved to spend time with his family at his home on Mount Taylor. Virgil was an avid nature lover, conservationist and enjoyed raising livestock. Virgil was preceded in death by his wife; his son; his parents; his brother; and his sister. He is survived by his niece, Barbara Woodward and her husband, Bob of Albuquerque; and his nephew, Dr. Leroy Coffman and his wife, Carol of Winter Haven, FL; and many, many close friends. Virgil was a loving, caring, husband, father, and mentor to many in his family and in the community and will be missed by everyone he touched. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123, 505 255-5523. EDWARDS -- JOSEPH ROGER EDWARDS AUG 14,1945 - AUG 14 2004 Joseph R. Edwards of Henderson, NV and longtime resident of Santa Fe and Placitas, NM was lost on Saturday August 14, 2004 as the result of a motorcycle accident. Joe was born on August 14, 1945 in Bremerton, WA. He was the son of Ewell and Ruth Edwards of Minnesota. The family moved to Juno Beach, FL in 1961 where Joe graduated from Riviera H.S. in 1965. In December of 1966 Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served at Holloman A.F.B. as a competitive expert marksman until October of 1968. On March 30, 1968, Joe was united in marriage to Susan Cook in Hobbs, NM. The couple were later divorced, but remained life long friends. The couple had two wonderful children, David and Christy who were his pride and joy. Joe then attended New Mexico J.C. and received his Associates Degree and continued on to NMSU where he received his Bachelors in Business Admin. in 1977. Joe was an insurance adjuster with Frontier in the Santa Fe area for 22 years, and he was an avid pool player in the BCA league. He enjoyed the numerous hunting and fishing expeditions with his family and friends over the years. On September 7, 1997 Joe married Jana M. (Murphy) Edwards at their home in Placitas. The couple spent a great deal of time camping and cycling with friends. In 2003 Jana and Joe moved to Nevada as Joe became involved in a thriving business in the motorcycle industry. Those who met Joe even once could clearly see he had a love of life, and he loved to bring joy and laughter to others. We will never forget that laugh as Joe could be heard three counties away when he was on a roll. Survivors include wife, Jana M. (Murphy) Of Henderson NV; one son, David Edwards; and daughter, Christy Edwards, both of Albuquerque; a step-daughter, Karianne (Schoenfelder) Johnson and husband, James "Jake" Johnson of Clarion, IA; step-son, Chad Schoenfelder & wife, Nicole of Rochester, MN; sister, Wendy Smith of Seattle, WA; former wife, Sue (Cook) Stanford of Albuquerque; (9) grandchilderen; and many friends. The family asks that you join them in a gathering to honor Joe's life at the home of Dick and Judy Murphy in Albuquerque, NM. HARVILLE -- James A. Harville, August 19, 1946 to May 8, 2004. My loving son; Tony was born August 19, 1946 and left us, alone and lonely, May 8, 2004, to join his family and friends in a better place. He was a member of the New Mexico Air National Guard serving honorably in the Vietnam War, then Retiring in 2002, after serving with the United States Defense Logistics, both in Colorado and New Mexico. He was a kind and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, generous to a fault, always putting others first. He has left a void in our lives and an unfillable hole in our hearts. Memorial services were held at Las Colinas Village with Rev. David Whitley officiating. American Legion Post #75, of Jemez Springs, flew the American Flag in his honor. Tony, farewell until we meet again! "If my tears could build a stairway like our memories built a lane, I'd climb right up to heaven and bring you home again!" Love, Mom

MAYER -- Joan Patricia Mayer, 76, a resident of Albuquerque for 34 years, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004. Mrs. Mayer was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She will be deeply missed by her family. Mrs. Mayer was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Norman E. Mayer in 1997. MOORE -- Jimmy Dee Moore, born April 4, 1954 in Roswell, NM died Friday, August 13, 2004. He was a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 2000. He is survived by his sons, James Moore and Joshua Moore both of Phelan, CA; mother Othel Moore of Albuquerque, NM; sister Pennie Cornell of Santa Fe, NM; brothers, Johnny Moore of Albuquerque, NM and Timothy Moore of Adelanto, CA; and special friends Arleen Todd and Emerald Lueras. Jimmy served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 6200 Gibson NE. BARKER -- Barbara Barker, 73, died in Albuquerque on Sunday, August 15, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer-related illnesses. She is survived by sons, John and James; daughter, Leslie; brother, Art; and sisters, Elinor, Helen, and Marjorie . Born Barbara Irene Nepstad in Mitchell, SD on November 2, 1930, she went on to live in Evanston, IL from 1938-1960 and graduated from ETHS. She was married to Jack Barker from 1950-1977 and with him lived in many countries around the world. She raised her family under many changing circumstances and always met the challenges of an unusual, adventurous life with resourceful determination. She returned to Evanston and worked in the travel industry until moving to Albuquerque 10 years ago. Barbara had many artistic and intellectual talents and loved to travel the world, to play tennis and bridge, to explore cultures and cuisines. She had many friends wherever she lived. We will all miss her. Thanks to all the wonderful caregivers in the Presbyterian Hospice program. By her request cremation has taken place and no memorial service will be held. We her children join family and friends in holding her memory dearly in our hearts and in celebrating her life, too.
