In December of 1966 Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served at Holloman A.F.B. as a competitive expert marksman until October of 1968. On March 30, 1968, Joe was united in marriage to Susan Cook in Hobbs, NM. The couple were later divorced, but remained life long friends. The couple had two wonderful children, David and Christy who were his pride and joy.
