AGODON -- Arsenia B. Agodon, 69, a resident of Albuquerque since 1998 and former resident of Hawaii since 1993 coming from the Philippines, died Friday, August 13, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Pedro E. Agodon; daughter, Carmelita B. Agodon M.D., both of Albuquerque; sons, Albert B. Agodon M.D. of Manila, Philippines and Romeo B. Agodon and wife, June Jeannie of Laoag City, Philippines; grandchildren, Stephanie Jen T. Agodon and Rom Kelvin T. Agodon, both of Laoag City, Philippines; sisters, Naty Quinto of Honolulu, HI and Pacita Baptista of Albuquerque; brother, Alex Baptista and wife, Arsenia of Porterville, CA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Agodon was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Emilia Baptista; and two brothers, Miguel Baptista and Loreto Baptista. ALDERING -- Flora Martha Aldering, 81, of Albuquerque, died Monday, August 16, 2004. She is survived by her life-long partner of over 47 years, Leon Humphrey; sisters, Barbara Turner of Maine and Katherine Eaton of Albany, NY; brothers, George W. and wife, Blanche "Betty" of Poestenkill, NY, Raymond Eaton and wife, Barbara of East Greenbush, NY, and Amazon Eaton and wife, Judy of Averill Park, NY; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. She is also survived by her family-by-love, Diane Martin, Marion Subjenski, Linda Ray and family, Lorraine Gibson and family, and Martha Barralles and family. She was married to Robert J. Aldering on June 19, 1944, and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1953. Flora was born December 5, 1922 in Albany, NY. She was a member of St. Charles de Borromeo Catholic Church and a Veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy from 1943-1945. BACA -- Julia G. Baca, 82, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at her home in Socorro, NM. She was born July 4, 1922 to Hilario and Priscilla (Benavidez) Gonzales in Lemitar, NM. She is preceded in death by her son, Donald Roy Baca in February 2004. She is survived by her husband, Eliziam Baca of their home in Socorro; son, David Richard Baca and wife, Diana of Socorro; brother, Jose L. Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren: Noel R. Baca and wife, Kim of Seattle, WA; Daniel R. Baca of Albuquerque; Erlinda L. C. Baca of Lemitar; great-grandchildren: Michael R. Baca of Socorro; Ryan Conner Baca of Seattle, WA; Katrina Baca of Lemitar. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church. BARKER -- Barbara Barker, 73, died in Albuquerque on Sunday, August 15, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer-related illnesses. She is survived by sons, John and James; daughter, Leslie; brother, Art; and sisters, Elinor, Helen, and Marjorie . Born Barbara Irene Nepstad in Mitchell, SD on November 2, 1930, she went on to live in Evanston, IL from 1938-1960 and graduated from ETHS. She was married to Jack Barker from 1950-1977 and with him lived in many countries around the world. She raised her family under many changing circumstances and always met the challenges of an unusual, adventurous life with resourceful determination. She returned to Evanston and worked in the travel industry until moving to Albuquerque 10 years ago. Barbara had many artistic and intellectual talents and loved to travel the world, to play tennis and bridge, to explore cultures and cuisines. She had many friends wherever she lived. We will all miss her. Thanks to all the wonderful caregivers in the Presbyterian Hospice program. By her request cremation has taken place and no memorial service will be held. We her children join family and friends in holding her memory dearly in our hearts and in celebrating her life, too.

BENNETT -- Lawrence C. Bennett (known to his friends and family as Larry B.) passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004. He was born on Saturday, February 24, 1934, in Beloit, KS, and is survived by his loving wife, Linda Dominguez; brother, Richmond; sons, John, Aaron, and Jacob; 6 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Larry spent his teen years in Beloit, KS, joined the US Air Force and became a captain as a SAC pilot in his twenties. He then attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL and graduated at the top of his class. In 1961, he moved to Albuquerque where he went to work for Sandia National Laboratory for thirty years as an electronic circuit designer. He retired from Sandia in 1990. Larry was a fifth degree black belt and a member of the board of directors of the Kojosho system of karate. He was much beloved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a program of food for pets of needy seniors, "Senior Pet Food Project," Dept. Senior Affairs, c/o Animal Humane Association, 615 Virginia SE, 87108. BLACK -- James Doran Black, born January 5, 1980, graduated from Cibola High School in Albuquerque in 1998 and enthusiastically began working as an apprentice electrician in 2000. He then, with great aspiration, completed his four year apprenticeship program and became a journeyman electrician in 2004. James had a brave and optimistic outlook on life. He also had great deal of consideration and respect for every living being around him. With his humor and charm this spirited young man made his way into everyone's heart. On August 15, 2004 James suffered a massive heart attack and died. He is survived by: his wife, Angela Black; her two children, Calvin and Andrew; his mother, Veda Goslar; his identical twin brother, Patrick Black; his older brother, Ronald Zaitz; his sister in-law, Jennifer Zaitz; his sister, Kiley Black; as well as his father, Glen Black. CHAVEZ -- Alfred "Fecho" Alfonso Chavez, 86, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004. He is survived by his granddaughter, Alexandria Ferguson and husband, Ben of San Diego, CA; grandsons, Robert Herrera of Albuquerque and Vincent Herrera and wife, Rosemary of Albuquerque, who aided Mr. Chavez as his caregiver; 5 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lita Gallegos and husband, Paciano of Albuquerque; brothers, Edward Chavez and wife, Rosemarie, Nick Chavez and wife, Priscilla all of Albuquerque; special friend, Jane Batten of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Georgia Chavez of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. CSEPREGI -- Frank Csepregi, 61, passed away on August 14, 2004 at the Cleveland Clinic due to complications following open-heart surgery. Frank was born in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to the US in 1956 at the age of 14 following the Hungarian Revolution. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Washington and later went on to become a Mine Health and Safety Specialist for the U.S. Government. Frank proudly served our country as a Green Beret in the Special Forces of the Army. Since his retirement in 1986, he actively served our community as a member of the St. Pius Foundation Board of Trustees, the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque and the Aquinas Newman Center Catholic Parish. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Alice Marosi-Csepregi; children, Cathy Csepregi of Chicago, Nicole Adams and her husband, Jerry of Indianapolis; mother, Magdalena Hollo; sister, Eva Hollo; and mother-in-law, Anna Marosi. A wake will be held Friday, August 20, 2004 at 7:00 p.m., and the funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2004. DAVIS -- Michael E. Davis, 56, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1988, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2004. Michael was born May 16, 1948, the son of Paul Eugene and Phylis Elaine Cruse Davis in Illinois. He served in the US Marine Corps for over 20 years. Michael was a career Marine who loved his God and country. During his 23 year tenure, Mike served in Vietnam twice, by choice - later, he was the instructor for the Marine Corps Junior ROTC at Cibola High School for 13 years. Mike is preceded in death by his father and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Davis of the family's home; mother, Phylis Davis of Oxford, NY; three children, Lori Lunde of Rio Rancho, Lynette Shorkey and husband, Stephen of Rio Rancho, and Michael Davis and wife, Leslie of Apopka, FL; four grandchildren, Jessica Lunde, Christopher Shorkey, Kayleigh Shorkey, and Ryan Stanley; sisters and brothers, Nancee Halsteter of Oxford, NY, Sherrie Kuntz of Merit Island, FL, Maurice Davis of Monticello, IL, Allen Davis of Champaign, IL, Jeffrey Davis of Rantoul, IL, Traci Swisher of Urbana, IL, and Raelyn Davis of Monticello, IL. EDWARDS -- JOSEPH ROGER EDWARDS AUG 14,1945 - AUG 14 2004 Joseph R. Edwards of Henderson, NV and longtime resident of Santa Fe and Placitas, NM was lost on Saturday August 14, 2004 as the result of a motorcycle accident. Joe was born on August 14, 1945 in Bremerton, WA. He was the son of Ewell and Ruth Edwards of Minnesota. The family moved to Juno Beach, FL in 1961 where Joe graduated from Riviera H.S. in 1965. In December of 1966 Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served at Holloman A.F.B. as a competitive expert marksman until October of 1968. On March 30, 1968, Joe was united in marriage to Susan Cook in Hobbs, NM. The couple were later divorced, but remained life long friends. The couple had two wonderful children, David and Christy who were his pride and joy. Joe then attended New Mexico J.C. and received his Associates Degree and continued on to NMSU where he received his Bachelors in Business Admin. in 1977. Joe was an insurance adjuster with Frontier in the Santa Fe area for 22 years, and he was an avid pool player in the BCA league. He enjoyed the numerous hunting and fishing expeditions with his family and friends over the years. On September 7, 1997 Joe married Jana M. (Murphy) Edwards at their home in Placitas. The couple spent a great deal of time camping and cycling with friends. In 2003 Jana and Joe moved to Nevada as Joe became involved in a thriving business in the motorcycle industry. Those who met Joe even once could clearly see he had a love of life, and he loved to bring joy and laughter to others. We will never forget that laugh as Joe could be heard three counties away when he was on a roll. Survivors include wife, Jana M. (Murphy) Of Henderson NV; one son, David Edwards; and daughter, Christy Edwards, both of Albuquerque; a step-daughter, Karianne (Schoenfelder) Johnson and husband, James "Jake" Johnson of Clarion, IA; step-son, Chad Schoenfelfer & wife, Nicole of Rochester, MN; sister, Wendy Smith of Seattle, WA; former wife, Sue (Cook) Stanford of Albuquerque; (9) grandchilderen; and many friends. HARRIS -- Jerry D. Harris died August 14, 2004, after a short illness. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on January 20, 1928 to Marian and Joe D. Harris. Jerry graduated from Albuquerque High School and the University of New Mexico. He was employed by J. Korber & Co. and later by First United Methodist Church. In 1998, he retired from the church after thirty years of service. Jerry was a resident of Albuquerque most of his life. Jerry is survived by his wife, Lucile Harris, and her two daughters: Sharon Bostick and husband, Ken of Pie Town, NM, and Paula Olson and husband, Jerry of Vienna, VA; his step-mother, Freda Harris of Albuquerque; his brother, Jeff Harris and wife, Aletha of The Woodlands, TX; his sisters, Diane Galbraith and husband, Bob of Tijeras, NM; and Debbie Barnett and husband, Rich of Albuquerque; two nephews, Thomas Joe Harris, M.D., and Tyler Barnett; two nieces, Aletha Harris Dodge and Krista Barnett; and several cousins. Jerry was an avid reader with history and ships as his special interests. He enjoyed traveling, spectator sports, especially baseball, and had a great love for dogs. HENRICKS -- Glenn Edward Henricks. There will be a celebration for the life of Glenn Edward Henricks on August 22, 2004 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the home of Tony and Marian Baca, 12309 Crested Moss Road NE, Albuquerque. Glenn was born to Harold E. and Marian Henricks Baca on June 8, 1955 in Kansas City, MO. He passed away peacefully on July 20, 2004. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ethyl and Harold Henricks; his maternal grandparents, Alma and Arthur Lineback; and a cousin, Joy Lynn Stephens Wallace. HUTCHISON -- Cathleen Smith Hutchison, 55, a resident of Albuquerque since 1986, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 after a long battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her son, Erik Fichter of Virginia; parents, Don and Lola Hutchison of Detroit, MI; sister, Janet Ford and husband, Christopher of Centennial, CO; brother, Kevin Hutchison of Sault St. Marie, MI; and much loved niece, nephew, and great-niece and -nephew. Cathleen was born in Detroit, MI and received her BA from the University of Michigan and a Masters from Wayne State University in Detroit. She worked several years at Sandia National Labs and Honeywell. Cathleen was very involved in quilting. She was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and a choir member. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2004, 2:00 p.m., at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 9315 Candelaria Rd. NE, with Catherine Robinson officiating. LUJAN -- Frank M. Lujan, Jr., age 46, beloved father, son, and brother was called home by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 14, 2004. He was a resident of Albuquerque. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Manuelita Lujan. Frank is survived by his son, Isaac Lujan; two brothers, Arthur Lujan and wife, Fannie and Rumaldo Lujan; five sisters, Francis Gennen, Pricilla Lacitor, Eloyda Lujan, Eileen Tapia and husband, Danny, and Marcella Lambert. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members; and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. PEREA -- Rosaline Miera Perea, 74, passed away Monday, August 16, 2004 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel "Archie" Perea; her son, Mell Thaddeus Perea; her parents, Stephen Maurice and Carmen Baca Miera; and her brothers, Steve and David Miera. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in 1946 and the Regina School of Nursing in 1949. She was a dedicated pediatric and newborn nursery nurse at St. Joseph Hospital for over 30 years. Not only did she care for her babies, but whenever any family member was in the hospital she was there for them too. A devoted Roman Catholic, she volunteered at St. Therese Catholic School helping the sisters keep the immunization records of students updated. She is survived by her children, Karen Louise Perea; Gordon Michael Perea (Elsie); Andrea Marie Lancaster (William); Judith Ann Coggins (Tom); Teresa Lynn Espinosa (Steve); Christine Marie Saylor (Dave); Stanley Ross Perea (Toni); and Erika Lynn Ferraro; grandchildren, Claudie Chavez (Erica); Sheila Sisneros; Doug and Bill Lancaster; Tim Coggins; Steve, Nick, and Andrew Espinosa; Jessica and David Saylor; great-grandchildren, Paul Michael Sisneros; Desiree, Gabriel and Marcus Chavez; Jaden Lancaster; Gracie Sanchez; sisters, Lucille Catherine Miera (Vito); Edna Frances O'Loughlin; Patricia Evelyn Young (Ted); and Antonia Norene Light (Bud). SMITH -- Kathryn "Kitty" Smith, our beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 16, 2004. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sophia and Roy Landwehr; and a brother, Roy Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years, Michael Smith; in addition to her three sons, Tony, Jim and Bob; her daughter-in-law, Carol; grandchildren, Alissa Kreuch, Tony Kreuch, Jr., Tal Kreuch, Patrick Kreuch, and Alex Kreuch; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Joanne Landwehr; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Dee Riley; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Jim Harrigan; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Michael Quinn; sister, Sr. Judith Ann; and many nephews and nieces. Kitty will always be remembered as a caring and compassionate person who bore her chronic illnesses with dignity and strength. She had a love of life and an unquenchable thirst for learning. After raising her three sons, Kitty returned to college and obtained a Bachelor's Degree, with Honors, in Communicative Disorders from the University of New Mexico in 1979. She was an avid reader who, later in life, made the decision to re-read as many of the classic literary works as she could, and in so doing gained a new appreciation for these works. She was a wonderful homemaker, and she also was employed for several years as a bookkeeper in the accountancy and healthcare fields, and as a secretary. Kitty had many and varied talents. She raised African Violets for many years and was a member and judge of the African Violet Club, winning awards for her flowers that are too numerous to count. She frequently won awards at the New Mexico State Fair for her afghans and her jam. She also was on the Board of Directors and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for several years. The family would like to thank Kitty's many friends for their kindness, prayers and support. In celebration of her life a Rosary will be recited Thursday, August 19, 2004, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE and a Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 20, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd. STAGG -- Dorothy Elizabeth Stagg, sweet loving wife, and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 13, 2004 after a brief illness. Dorothy was born on March 8, 1915 in Norwick, Norfolk, England to William Edward Victor and Annie Nichols Drew. She came to America to marry her sweetheart, John, in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1935. Together they have four children, John Drew and Suzzane Stagg, Julie Ann and Gary Dunn, Williams James and Judy Stagg, and David Edward and Angela Stagg. They have enjoyed 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Dorothy has always been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she has served in the Primary and Relief Society. She is loved and appreciated by all her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all. Services will be held Friday, August 20, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sandia Ward, Eubank Chapel, 4109 Eubank Blvd. NE. WOOD -- Serpherness Henry Wood, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, died Monday, August 16, 2004. He was born in Hillman, MN to Peter George and Bertha Elnora, both deceased. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine May Wood of Albuquerque; and 4 sisters, Adetha - Mrs. Chester Setterlof of Onamia, MN, Elnora - Mrs. Vernon Jones of Onamia, MN, Ayme - Mrs. Elmer Cain of Sun City, AZ, and Alda Wood of Onamia, MN; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Dora May - Mrs. Gunnar Benson. Serpherness graduated from Onamia High School in Onamia MN, class of 1932. He then served 31 years in the U.S. Army. He received the following decorations, medals, and badges: American Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Korean Service Medal W/2 Service Stars; Army Commendation Medal W/1 Oak Leaf Cluster; national Defense Service Medal W/1 Oak Leaf Cluster; Armed Force Reserve medal - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Awards; WWII Victory Medal; United Nations Service Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campsitu Medal W/1 Battle Star; Army of Occupation Medal (Japan); 7 Overseas Bars; Meritorious Service Medal W/1 Oak Leaf Cluster; and Last overseas Tour: Greece. Prior to his military service he was Mille Lacs County Assessor, MN. He was a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church.
