GARDINER, VERA MAE Age 85, passed away January 17, 2015 in Layton, Utah. She was born January 16, 1930 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Fuchs Mechenbier. Vera Mae married Benjamin S. Gardiner on July 4, 1950 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. Vera Mae was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Red Hats. She enjoyed sports, boating, Bingo and being with her family. Surviving are her daughters Nancy E. McHugh, Amy (Rick) Hartle; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Norbert (Tita) Mechenbier; and her sister, Mercedes Ray. Preceded in death by her husband Benjamin S. Gardiner and son Todd W. Gardiner. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Catholic Community Services or your favorite charity. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 26, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, 2532 Vermont NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
