BAUER, MARGIE FLORINE We honor an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and steward of God's love: Margie Florine Bauer. She peacefully passed on Friday, November 28 in her home surrounded by the warmth of family, love, and laughter; a fitting environment built during 62 years of marriage to her beloved husband Alfred (Fred) Bauer. They shared an incredible bond that began as a childhood friendship and blossomed into first love turned true love forever. Their love and faith in God and each other could also be felt in everything Margie touched. Margie unselfishly shared her natural caregiving personality with others throughout her life. She moved to Albuquerque as a toddler with her parents Ralph and Dorothea Barger and attended Highland High School. Her strength and love nurtured everything from the gardens and flowers she tended to the many tiny toes and paws that walked her floors over the years. Her unconditional love for family, friends, and the many animals and people she rescued flowed forth beautifully wrapped in her ever-present smile and words of encouragement. Margie's caring soul and leadership helped her succeed in all that she did, from providing outstanding service as postmaster for 16 years at Cards 'N Such to many years as co-captain of the neighborhood watch with Fred. These characteristics were also foundational to her work on the Care Committee for the First Church of Christ Scientist. Faith was of utmost importance to Margie and she was a pillar of the Church for more than 55 years. She was committed to providing love and hope to all she cared for. In addition to her husband Fred, Margie leaves behind five children whom Fred describes as "the orneriest kids in the world that turned out to be the best in the whole universe"; son Fred Bauer of Albuquerque (wife Donna), Debi Wilcox of Corrales (husband Bud), Barbara Bauer of Moriarty (husband Gary Sedillo), Susan Shelton of Albuquerque (husband Kent), and Pamela Bauer of Oregon (partner Darci Knobel). Her extended family includes her brother, Virgil Barger (wife Jane); brother-in-law Ed Bauer (wife Pat); eleven grandchildren, Stephen and Amanda Bauer, Deanna Trujillo (husband Jody) and Kristen Hatch (husband Shawn), Royce Bass and Maryjane Gold (husband Daniel), Eric Bauer (wife Astacia), Brenda and Shannon Shelton, Shawn Stewart (wife Kelleen), and Stephanie Stewart; eleven great-grandchildren; and lots of grand-pups and grand-kitties. There will be no memorial service. If you wish to honor Margie, please give to the First Church of Christ Scientist in Albuquerque, or Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in Ramah, or Animal Humane, New Mexico. Margie's generosity, kindness, strength, and love can and will carry on in all of us.

CODDINGTON, PAUL M. Paul Coddington, 64, died at home on November 24 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father Stanley and his mother Juliette, and in the Albuquerque area he is survived by first cousin Neil Coddington (wife Betty Jo) and many other cousins in the large Clarence Blankenship family. He also leaves behind long-time friends in various parts of the country. A 1968 graduate of Highland High School in Albuquerque, Paul studied broadcast journalism at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, and during the early '70s he worked at radio stations in El Paso and Tucson. When times were tough, he took whatever kind of work he could find. In the late '70s, he worked for Capital Records in Dallas. Later, Paul got into the fields of value engineering and computer support before returning to Albuquerque in 1998 to care for his mother. Paul will be remembered as a witty, loyal, and generous friend and an appreciative neighbor who was always up for a lively discussion about popular music, education, politics, or just about anything else he knew something about. An inveterate "news junkie," he had strong and informed opinions. For better or worse, Paul lived life his own way; but there is reason to hope that when presented with the ultimate choice, he took the hand Jesus offered. A memorial service is being planned for a suitable time well after the Christmas holidays. Anyone interested in participating is welcome to call Phil Scott at 505-265-1983.

GALLEGOS, PACIANO "P.L." In Memory, gone, never forgotten. August 25, 1924 - December 14, 2005 Daddy, it has been nine years since you went to be with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You are with me always. All your nieces and nephews say you were their favorite "Tio", they loved you so much. I love getting together with the Mccoy/Gallegos family. That is when I feel closest to you, because of all the LOVE they have for each other. One of my favorite memories, as a child, was going to La Jara on weekends. It never failed as soon as we were on the highway to Cuba, you would stop and pick up a hitch hiker, put him in the back of the truck in the camper shell with us kids and a bucket of chicken. I always got mad, and you would just laugh. So here we go with the hitch hiker, eating chicken and laughing all the way to Cuba. Not once did you ever say no to someone in need, even if it was just a ride and some food to eat. Deacon Bob Contreras says "Hi my friend". I have a special place in my heart for Deacon Bob. You brought Bob into my family and we have truly been blessed for that gift. I send you my favorite Bible verse, John 14, 1-4. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. Renee Marie Romero

KERRIGAN, RITA In Loving Memory Rita Kerrigan died November 29, 2014 after battling a long fight with a rare blood disease, passing at home in the care of her partner, Kathleen Brixner, with whom she shared her life for the last 40 years. Rita was an athlete in youth with a focus on basketball and softball. She left home at 16 after high school graduation, getting a small apartment and a job in an insurance company, filing. She took training to be an x-ray tech in the 1950's and worked at that for many years, getting an overdose of radiation when the industry was young and inexperienced in the dangers of x-ray poisoning. That misery has since been corrected for today's x-ray techs. She recovered & took qualifying entrance exams for college, receiving a full scholarship from NYU, graduating with an M.A. in 1964. She thought about taking a PhD. in Anthropology-Art, but decided living a life of adventure would be preferable. She worked as a teacher in the Virgin Islands, St. John, then took a couple of years off to live in Portugal to fmd herself as an artist in painting (and did). When she came home, she helped her Mother make repairs to the Brooklyn home where Rita was raised, which was then sold and her Mother migrated to the warmth of Florida. Rita moved West at the invitation of an old pal from Manhattan, worked for him as a rental manager, painting her nonesuch imaginative art every chance she got. In 1976, she & Kathleen went into business as stone carvers for a small company, making tiny animals with drilled holes in them to be used as beads. They expanded stone work to include inlaid stone in jewelry and were self-employed in the jewelry business together for thirty-five years until they retired, talk about adventures. What a surprise life turns out to be. Both partners continued making art and exhibited it for many years with the Rainbow Artists group and other venues. Rita worked on the two public art installations at the Wyoming and Main Children's Libraries. As well as painting, she was an imaginative sculptor working in many media - welded steel, stone, wood and ceramic. She continued making art until she was quite ill, a bonvivant who enjoyed her good life with all her might. She is sorely missed by her friends and loved ones and family. Survived by her partner Kathleen; her niece Linda Meadows and children Natalie and William; nephew Gordon Teakle and his wife Joan and their children Patricia & Melody; Mark Teakle and his wife Leanne and their children Joseph and Ryan; two great-nephews Ian and Alex Sanchez, children of her deceased niece Joann Teakle. She was cremated and her ashes will be spread under her beloved apricot tree, a memorial for her will be held later next spring. We think of her always but especially in Spring when the pink apricot flowers bloom and later when sweet apricots are ready to eat. Forever in our hearts.

ZAWADZKI, JEROME ANTHONY Age 59, of San Diego, CA died November 30, 2014, after a 5-year battle with brain cancer (glioblastoma multiforme). Jerome is survived by his wife, Doris Grotkopp; children, Marianne, Lukas, Marlena, and Tristian of San Diego. He is also survived by his parents, Jim and Marianne Zawadzki, sister Laura, brothers Nick and Jeff, all of San Diego; brother Chris of Conyers, GA; sister Angela of Woodstock, Canada; brother Andrew of Albuquerque, NM; wonderful brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews; and many other relatives and good friends throughout the country. Jerome was born April 16, 1955, in Chicopee, MA. His dad served in the Air Force and in the early years Jerome's family also lived in Bangor, ME; Bermuda; and Portsmouth, NH. In 1968, his dad's assignment to Cannon AFB, brought the family to Clovis, NM. Jerome graduated from Clovis High School in 1973 and attended Eastern New Mexico University from 1973 to 1977. He moved to Albuquerque in 1977 intending to finish his degree at UNM and to find work in some area of biology research. Not finding work in a research lab, Jerome volunteered his services at a UNM cancer research lab until they eventually hired him. It was there that Jerome was introduced to the concepts of flow cytometry and cell sorting, which led to a distinguished 35-year career in biotechnology research and industry. In 1981, Jerome left Albuquerque to follow career opportunities in Denver, CO; Boston, MA; and Princeton, NJ. In 1984, Jerome met Doris in Boston, they married in 1987 and started their family. In 1998, a career opportunity took Jerome and his family to San Diego. In 2004, Jerome was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He endured many painful treatments and in 2009 this cancer was considered in remission. In July 2009, he was diagnosed with GBM and told he had a year to live. Jerome battled his cancer with courage and lived his life to the fullest no matter the effects of cancer treatments. In December 2013, Jerome ended his professional career with retirement from Becton Dickinson Biosciences. Jerome was truly a special person. He was a wine enthusiast, fantastic chef, avid gardener, and lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. He loved the Southwest, and in particular New Mexico, where he made many good and lasting friendships first formed in high school and college. Roasting and cleaning Hatch green chili was an annual ritual in his household. He collected Southwestern rugs, paintings, jewelry, and was particularly fond of Native American pottery. Jerome had an independent mind and heartfelt nature. He was a thoughtful person and could surprise you with his opinions, which were usually very well thought out and convincing. When he wanted to, he could be the most charming and charismatic person. He was always ready with a smile and hearty laugh and treated everyone with the utmost respect. He was stubborn, quick to anger, but quicker to forgive. His modus operendi was always to "kill them with kindness." He was a blessing to all he encountered. Jerome requested he be cremated and his ashes scattered at favorite locations in both San Diego and New Mexico. Two celebrations of life are planned, one for late January in San Diego and another for late May in Albuquerque. A special Facebook page has been established under Jerome's name to receive condolences and to post your favorite memory or photo.
