HENDRIX , HOLLAND LEE (HOLLY) Died suddenly on November 26, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM, of lung cancer. He was 66 years old. Holly was born and raised in Tyler, TX before attending Columbia University in NYC. He received his Master's Degree from Union Theological Seminary and his Th.D. from Harvard University. A Unitarian layman and an expert on the New Testament and archeology, Holly was a professor at Harvard, Haverford College and Barnard College before becoming Dean, and then President of Union Theological Seminary in 1991. As Union's longest running president, he served through 1998 before leaving to run several non-profit organizations. Most recently he was a VP at Hampshire College in Massachusetts, Executive Director of Department of Philanthropy for the Anglican Church of Canada and Director of Advancement for the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. He was a long-time member of All Souls Unitarian Church in NYC, serving on its board, and was a current member of St. Andrew Presbyterian in Albuquerque. He is survived by his brother Dee; and sisters-in-law Charla Hendrix and Gayla Hendrix of Tyler, TX; along with six nephews; five nieces; and a stepdaughter. He was predeceased by his parents Lucille and Ernest Hendrix Jr., his brother Clyde and nephew Cameron. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, at 10 a.m., at Chandler Memorial Cemetery, 620 Old Tyler Road, Chandler, TX.
