BENAVIDEZ, STEPHEN E. Age 55, Stephen unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Neva M. King of Albuquerque; mother, Eva M. Parker; children, Allison N. Parraz, Leslie S. Benavidez; grandchildren Dominic, Jude, Addison, and Ruby; siblings Bernadette Vadurro, Ben Benavidez, Annette Stephens, and Anthony Benavidez; many nieces, nephews and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Nap Benavidez and nephew; Michael Ortiz. Steve proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was a parishioner at Risen Savior Catholic Community and formerly a parishioner, lector, Eucharistic Minister, Scholarship Committee Member, and Youth Group Minister at Aquinas Newman Center. He was active in his profession as a Project Manager Team Leader for SW District, Trane, with an MM98 Mechanical Licensure. Steve was a former president of the NM Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers; member and scholarship chairman of ASHRAE; and served as a committee member at CNM. He selflessly donated 70+ gallons of blood in his lifetime to United Blood Services and during his military service. In addition, he gave one of his kidneys to his brother. Steve was a NAUI certified scuba diver since 1979. He was a competitive racquetball player, earning first place state titles in 2010 and 2011, and second place in 2013. He coached his two daughters in little league and coached/played competitive slow pitch softball, leading his team to an undefeated season (16-0). Always a loyal fan of the New Mexico Lobos Basketball team and the Dallas Cowboys, Steve loved sports throughout the years. He was passionate about many facets of life. Since the age of 13 he walked 30+ years to Santuario de Chimayo, a 26 mile pilgrimage. He was known for his infectious laugh and humor. He always lit up a room with his smile. His kind and generous nature made him a leader by example. Steve was a very intelligent man who loved to read. Always a gentleman, he never missed an opportunity to cherish his wife, Neva, and his love for her was evident to all. Being a grandfather meant the world to him. He was his grandson Dominic's role model and he never missed an opportunity to show his love and support. The legacy Steve leaves behind is an enduring love for his wife, family and friends. Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 10, 2014, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH Wyoming. Friends may visit beginning at 5:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 11, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. CARBAJAL, SANTOS G. Santos, age 68, passed away on April 4th at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born August 4, 1945 in Casas Grande, MX and resided in Albuquerque since 1975. He is survived by his wife Rebecca of 39 years; four sisters; four children; and seven grandchildren. Santos was preceded in death by his daughter who passed away in February. A celebration of Santos' life will take place on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 3:00pm at the Casa Del Rey church; reception immediately following. Santos will be greatly missed by his family and friends. CARPENTER, GILBERT Age 86, who has lived in New Mexico since 1968, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 4, 2014 in Santa Fe. He was born to Clyde E. Carpenter and Gladys H. Bishop Carpenter in Oak Creek, CO on March 10, 1928. He graduated from Fruitvale High School near Grand Junction, CO, then eagerly entered the Navy in 1946, returned home in 1948 after serving in Hawaii, earned an associate degree from Mesa Junior College and married his sweetheart, Patricia O'Dell. Gil's career as a lumberman for Independent Lumber in Colorado and then the A.C. Houston Lumber Company, included serving as that Company's General Manager for many years. His career took the Carpenters far and wide across the west, with one of his responsibilities being the design, construction, and initial operation of numerous yards. These locations included Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, California and Nevada. Their children speak of living in twenty different homes before their college years! Gil was a loving husband and father and thoroughly enjoyed his family and providing for them. He was a treasure to his grandchildren who enjoyed his attending, along with Patricia, their soccer and volleyball games, swim meets and graduations. He was a superb role model for his children and grandchildren and for the managers he trained in the lumber business. Gil's love of playing college football and basketball developed into many joyful years as a referee of high school and college sports. Gil was an active member of the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the New Mexico Amigos, the Woodmen of America, the Elks Club and the Lions Club. Gilbert is survived by his spouse of 65 years, Patricia; their children, Kelly Carpenter, Paula Cook (Doug), Maggie Dorris (Lizard), Stephen Carpenter, and Becca Fowler (Mick); as well as grandchildren, Matthew Craft, Caitlin Dupuis (John) and Ellee Grace Cook; sisters and a brother, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Carpenter and Gladys Wells, stepfather, Billy Wells, and sister, Phyllis Clark. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, April 14, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, NM. CHAVEZ, RALPH Age 89, passed away on April 9, 2014. Born in Albuquerque, to Onesimo and Rosalia Chavez, Ralph spent much of his life in the Los Lunas and Albuquerque area. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence and Onesimo Jr. and sisters Mary and Rosie. Ralph is survived by his brothers, Nano, of Hawaii, and Lolo, of Albuquerque; son, Terry, of San Antonio, Texas, daughter, Patricia, of Albuquerque and son, Ralph, of Albuquerque, along with four grandchildren. The mother of his children, Billie Jones, divorced, but friends in the end passed away April of last year. Ralph started out in the Navy as a Metalsmith first class, during WWII in the Pacific. After the war, he spent time in the shipyards in California. Later on he returned to the Albuquerque area to raise his family and work as a Firefighter on the ladder and in the rescue squad. Known at the firehouse as "Dudley", he spent much of his 28 years at Albuquerque Fire Station's 2, 4 and 15 and eventually retired as a Lieutenant. He was dedicated to his catholic faith and family. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Garcia Mortuary~Chapel of Angels. FARRELL, JOHN "JACK", USAF, CMS (RET.) Age 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Heidi Oury of Albuquerque; and son, James Farrell of San Diego, CA; stepsons, Allen W. Callender of Albuquerque and Edward W. Callender of California; grandchild, Brittany Oury of Albuquerque; sister, Kathleen Farrell of St. Paul, MN; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his wives, Marjorie Farrell and Cora Farrell; son, Kieran Farrell; and grandson, Adam Oury. Jack was born in 1924 in Lawrence, MA and after graduation from the seminary, entered the United States Army Air Corps where he served honorably until his retirement in 1970. He was an avid chess player and a lover of Heineken. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. IMBRO, JAMES ERIC "It's only a Dream" James Eric Imbro, 27 of Albuquerque, NM left this world on April 5, 2014. He was born on a Tuesday, July 22, 1986 in Danbury, CT. His Mom, Stephanie Imbro and Brother, R.J. Garcia know that although his life with them was short, he will live in their hearts forever. He is survived by Father, Broderick J, Imbro - Meriden, CT. Also by the following important men who also loved and cared for James as their own son, Ralph Garcia and David Chavez, Alb. NM and Mario Cordova, Los Lunas, NM. Grandparents Elsie R. Baca, Steve C. Sprunk and James Imbro greeted Jamie in Heaven, while Margaret Imbro, Arthur Baca and Virginia Sprunk wait to see him again. KNUDSEN, NORMAN LEROY August 23, 1927 - April 1, 2014 Norman L. Knudsen, resident of San Jose, CA. Born in Omaha, reared in Council Bluffs; Norman graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, and then enlisted in the Navy in 1945. He attended University of Omaha for one semester, and then in 1946 joined the Navy to become an Aviation Electronics Technician. He was honorably discharged in 1948. He finished his education at the University of Omaha obtaining a B.A. degree in Chemistry. Next, he traveled to New Mexico for graduate studies at the University of New Mexico, where he met and married Evaughn Bennett in 1952. After living in Boulder, CO, Dallas, TX, Albuquerque, NM (Sandia Corp.), and Vancouver, Canada, Norman and his family moved to San Jose, CA to work at Lockheed Corp. from 1974 to 1989. Norman is survived by his wife, Evaughn; three sons, Mark, Vance, and Eric; one sister, Reita Formanek of Council Bluffs, Iowa. His other sister, Janice Fay, died in 2003. LAMONDE, MAURICE "MOE" In loving memory of Maurice "Moe" Lamonde age 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, who unexpectedly passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara; children, Trey, Cory, and Mikael Ann; granddaughter, Isabella; brother from another mother, Al Lujan and wife, Kathy; and numerous other relatives and many friends. Moe was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Loretta Lamonde. He was born in 1949 in New Bedford, MA and after graduating from high school, he drove his VW to Portales where he attended Eastern New Mexico University. He obtained his BS in Computer Science. Moe then moved to Albuquerque where he joined the financial community. He was very active in the community and loved to ski and golf. Moe's first love was Barbara. His passion was his family and there was nothing he wouldn't do for his friends. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Rosary will be held Friday, April 11, 2014, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. MALONE, GARY Age 54, made his journey to heaven on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. He was born in Fort Worth, TX on July 6, 1959. Gary spent most of his life in Albuquerque, NM with his beloved ex-wife, Angela Johnson. Gary was blessed with a beautiful family. Gary was intelligent and very talented with a quick wit and sarcasm that will be greatly yearned for by all. MILLER, CHRISTOPHER Christopher Alfred Miller (54) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. He was born on January 22, 1960 in Albuquerque, NM to his parents Alfred and Elizabeth Miller. Chris was a graduate of Monzano High School, Class of 1979 and worked at Bobby J's Yamaha for over 30 years. In his spare time he loved to hunt, go camping and ride motorcycles with family and friends. He is survived by his daughters Candace Stout (Colt) and Christen Miller; his sister Nicole Castellese (Richard); and his mother Elizabeth Miller. There will be a memorial service held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Glory Christian Fellowship at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow.

PATTERSON, JAMES L. passed away on April 8, 2014 at age 72. He was born April 5, 1942 in Atlanta, TX and is survived by his loving wife; three daughters; one son; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He served 20 years in the US Air Force 1960-1980 and served two tours in the Vietnam Conflict. James passed away after ten years of battling cancer. James was a loving husband, father, and a kind man that will be missed by many. PLUTH, LARRY Larry Pluth, born February 20, 1931, died April 3, 2014 at age 83. Originally from Hawthorne California, Larry and his father Jack were known for their hunting, fishing, and prize game of deer, elk, moose, bear, boar, oryx, and buffalo. Larry, the youngest of two children, hiked the Lewis and Clark trail, cycled from LA to NM, worked in the Peace Corps, served in the Korean War, lived in Salem, Oregon, and Los Angles, CA before settling in Albuquerque NM. Larry will be deeply missed by his remaining family: Greg, Dirk, and Lisa Brogdon.

SCHWAPPACH, JOHN T. John T. Schwappach, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. John was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 4, 1934 to Christian and Eileen (Healey) Schwappach. After graduating from De La Salle High School in Minneapolis he enlisted in the Air Force in 1953. He completed Air Force Flying School and while stationed at Chaumount, France he met and married his sweetheart of fifty-seven years, Micheline of Troyes. A pilot, John was honorably discharged in 1957 with a rank of first lieutenant. A long time resident of the east mountains, John retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1989 after 35 years of air traffic control service. He loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman, hunter, and traveler. Survivors include his wife Micheline and their children: Christopher Schwappach and his wife Mary Schwappach of Tijeras, NM, Michele Schwappach and her husband Lloyd Nelson of San Pedro, NM, Eric Schwappach and his wife Tatiana Schwappach of Columbus, GA, Laurie Orzel and her husband Richard Orzel of Farmington, NM; two grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers. His parents preceded him in death. A Rosary will be held Friday, April 11, 2014 at 6:30 PM followed by a funeral service on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 10:00 AM San Antonio De Padua, Holy Child Parish, Cedar Crest, NM. SNYDER, ALBERT WILLIAM (BILL) Age 88, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on April 9, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Born December 28, 1925 in Halifax, PA, he was the son of the late Isabelle and Joseph A. Snyder. Bill was a WWII veteran having enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and serving as an electronics specialist on the USS Grainger. Following his discharge from the Navy, Bill completed his Bachelors degree in Physics from Franklin and Marshall College, and his Masters degree in Physics from Iowa State University. Bill joined Sandia National Laboratories as a nuclear physicist in 1954 and at the time of his retirement in 1991, he was Director of Exploratory Nuclear Energy Systems. In his space time, Bill was a Master gardener, draftsman, skilled woodworker, and co-builder of an experimental airplane. He loved to design and see his ideas on paper become reality. He loved to read and could often be found in his favorite chair reading books on history or science. He enjoyed the challenge of learning new things; taking up the study of Biology at age 75. Bill was also an avid and expert skier, skiing until age 81, the slopes of the New Mexico and Colorado mountains. He often joked with his daughters how he no longer had to pay for lift tickets, a great age benefit! Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ferne L. Snyder and his sister, Marie Rowe. He is survived by his three daughters, Schelley J. (Snyder) Carlton and husband Larry of Albuquerque, NM, Melanie A. (Snyder) McDonald and husband Denis and their children, Liam and Lauren of Edmonds, WA and Shannon L. (Snyder) Olfers and husband Steven and their children, Erin Grace, Zachary and Callum of Laveen, AZ; and nieces Teresa and Lisa Rowe of Pennsylvania. Bill was a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to thank the loving caregivers at Brookdale Place of Albuquerque, and Dr. Francesco Standoli, Carolyn Pesko, RN and the volunteers with Hospice of New Mexico; all who helped make Bill's final days comfortable and peaceful. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date at St. James Independent Church near the village of Carsonville, PA.
